It wasn't until the end of the process that I was hit with a $500+ tax prepation fee - and note there was nothing special about our documents, a few W2s and that was it! And there was nothing spectacular about their preparation; in fact they had a new hire do it! Having shopped around now and asked for quotes upfront I am blown away by how equally competent firms in the area are able to offer the same service for less than half the cost.
