My father passed away at the end of 2016. Dealing with the loss of my father was difficult enough,…read morebut added to that was the fact that my father was a CPA and had been doing my taxes my entire life. This would be the first time anyone other than my father would guide me through this process. I was lucky enough to find Josh, who not only is a total pro with a quick turnaround time, but a really good human being. He's now been my CPA for the past 8 years and I always look forward to our annual Skype tax meeting.

I can honestly say that I look forward to tax season because Josh is my accountant. Josh picked me up as a last minute client in April of 2019 (a week before taxes were due!), when I was told my accountant of several years was no longer doing taxes. Since completing my 2018 taxes, he help me set up my LLC, breakdown my C-Corp, and apply for PPP loans. In March of 2020, Josh + his office sent out an email on a Saturday to all clients to go over what was covered under the CARES act- who was eligible for unemployment benefits, what loans were available for small businesses. I forwarded this email to my friends and they also found this information very helpful- their accountants didn't do this for them. It says a lot about what Josh and his team does for his clients. Josh and his team are much more than just "tax accountants"!

I hired this firm to prepare my taxes last year and paid $400 for their services. Recently, another…read moretax professional identified a potential error related to the depreciation claimed on my rental property...something I would not reasonably be able to catch or verify on my own as a non-accountant. When I reached out to the office for clarification, I was told it would cost an additional $250 just to review the return and address questions or corrections. I do not believe it is appropriate to charge a client to fix or explain a potential error made during the original preparation. What's more concerning is that I was told that because I reviewed and signed the return, they are not responsible for assisting further. This is unrealistic...clients rely on professionals for their expertise, especially for complex areas like depreciation, which are not easily understood or verified without specialized knowledge. This experience reflects very poor customer service and lack of accountability. I would not recommend this firm and would advise others to seek a preparer who stands behind their work.

Mr. Slott is a genius who offers to help each of us whose lives are so terribly unfairly impacted…read moreby the utterly ridiculousness of the apparently intentional needless complexity found in the voluminous and ever changing Internal Revenue Service's tax codes, rules and regulations. They are written in a language understood by no one, a language so foreign to even those who write or modify the countless Volumes of their alleged understanding surely they privately express wonder that the vast majority of Americans who have full possession of their sanity and senses have never unitedly demanded the IRS be subjected to the most basic of all legal concepts, the "Reasonable Man" test. Are we really so afraid of and vulnerable to the inexplicably of the undeniably pointed and viciously unfair nature by which the Federal Government determines how to demand that the most be taken from the many who have the least that there is no end to our collective consciousness of ourselves as a "Nation of over which said Federal Government rules, rather than "acts" in a manner meant to be "of the People, by the People and for the People", the principal tenant of our brilliant Founding Fathers. Those exceptional men feared the financial system, especially the banking system allowed by the principles of Democracy. President George Washington, the first President and one of the few to follow who were arguably the only Statesmen to be elected to serve (NOTE: "serve") the people as our Chief Executive Officer and Commander in Chief over what was never meant to be a "standing army", used to colonize the countries of the world, openly worried about the negative effect on our new Nation financial entities might be, for though he believed in the goodness of Mankind he recognized the evil of its inherent Greed when given the freedoms of the Democracy of the newly created Republic. Mr. Slott explains the important and legitimate difference between the legality as well as the desirability of AVOIDING TAXES versus the illegality of EVADING TAXES. Far too many American Taxpayers are caught in the spiders web of crushingly unfair taxes, placed upon the Fruits of Our Labors-the money we are paid for the work that we do-meant to enable the enjoyment of the thoughtful and throughly debated Freedoms earned and by no means "given" to us all by virtue of our Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights, the very foundations of our Republic. Thomas Jefferson referred to it as our "great experiment in Democracy". More importantly to me is the answer given by Benjamin Franklin when he was asked, Is it a Republic, Mr. Franklin?!". "It is if you can keep it, Madam.", his reply. Search high and low in The Constitution of the United States of America and you will find that our glorious Nation was conceived and dedicated without mention of taxes on a Citizens Income. Such a proposition would literally have been heralded as in direct opposition to the very principles upon which this great Nation was founded. Such punishment placed upon the efforts of the very citizens without whom we "cannot long endure" is tantamount to "shooting oneself in the foot" or worse-for the citizen of greater wealth as a product of either a superior education or inherited monetary superiority, enabling them to purchase the expensive services of those far better equipped than they to find or to create tax "loopholes" for those who proudly wear the now well recognized badge signifying the power and pride that the "sense of Entitlement" bestowed upon this motley crew of citizens for whom the "Deck is Stacked" in their favor and they do not hesitate to sneer stupidly behind closed doors about their fellow citizens whom they mock for "bringing knives to a gunfight". In other words, for failing the reptilian vile test of behaving illegally as they do, without consequence. Far from receiving the consequences meant to be placed upon and suffered by those who behave illegally, these clever thieves brag openly in the same grandiose manner of the Emperor who displayed "The Emperors New Clothes" and after only a few brief moments of silent success, was treated rightly as the Fool he had proved himself to truly be. Mr. Slott places into the hands of the many information once allowed only the Emperors Devotees. It's every bit as important as the accomplishment of which Neil Armstrong described as "One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for Mankind"-modified only slightly to say, " That's one small step for a Man, one Tsunamic Leap for the average American Citizen!". Read this book and read every book Mr. Slott has written to share the secret truth once known only to the Emperors People, now available to each and every citizen of our "great experiment in Democracy". We are a Republic first and a Democracy only if we are able to be the Republic required for even the hope of Democracy to survive.

Throughout this time, we reached out multiple times for assistance, only to receive surface-level responses limited to what we needed to provide, with little meaningful effort or follow-through on their part. After getting our local congressman involved, Wolfsohn amazingly discovered an error in their reporting of our withholdings, which forced us to start the entire process over again with an amended return. This was the third time the process had to restart, first due to two IRS errors, and finally because of theirs, which was the most critical since it started the IRS delay. What is most frustrating is that their error could have been identified back in March when we first sought their help. Had proper diligence been exercised then, this situation could have been resolved months ago. Instead, we are left paying the price for their oversight. We have been long-term clients, close to 20 years, and have always paid a premium fee, with the expectation that their professional tax services include not just data entry, but genuine follow-through and client support when issues arise. That is part of what we pay for. Unfortunately, this experience has shown us that once the paperwork leaves your office, the responsibility ends there. That is not acceptable, especially for loyal customers who have trusted them for years.
