Disclaimer: I was recommended to utilize David Zhang's expertise by a family friend of David. This review is not on the employee (who was pleasant) but it is on David. I first went to consult David back in March 2022 and he was great. He answered all my tax questions and I was in and out of the office in no time. I thought to myself, great, I just found an amazing accountant in my neighborhood. During that time, I explained to David about my situation and he responded to come back to me when tax season is over and all he has to do is to file a 1040x (to amend my tax return - 1040). (Side note: The issue that I had was that I initially e-filed my taxes. The federal rejected it but the state accepted it. Which is why I went to seek professional services in resolving the problem). So on December 12, 2022 at 1:30pm I went to see David and his office was busy. I told David I did not have an appointment and I asked, "should I make an appointment"? He decided to hear me out at first but then he passed my case to one of his employees. The employee explained to me that since I did not file my taxes 2020 taxes with them, there is nothing that they can do and I would have to come back during tax season. I tried to explain to them what David told me back in April (to come back after tax season) and David told his employee in Chinese "just ignore him, he is too annoying". Yup, just because someone doesn't speak the language, doesn't mean the person does not understand. The funny thing is that, just over the weekend, the same family friend asked me how was my experience with David because she wanted to file her taxes with him for the upcoming year. I raved about how great he was the first time around but after this experience, it got me to think: if a family friend doesn't even use your service in the first place, it is extremely telling of your professional demeanor or the lack thereof. This review will probably not affect the business but if you are looking for a tax accountant in Elmhurst, stay far away from this place. read more

This guy talks barely any English. I called for very simple tax work where most of the work was done & it would only take 10mins to complete which he wanted $150 for & when I said it was too much can he offer me a better price he told me go find someone else then & hung up on my face. So here is your very well deserved rating! Very unprofessional service where you are not valued as a customer....I will recommend to take your business where you are valued as a customer & not rudely hung up on! read more

He is extremely unethical and a liar! You CANNOT trust him. I asked him several times to password protect my tax returns but they are emailed without any security. He FORGOT to file my 2019 NY and NJ state taxes and I didn't find out from the state tax agency until 4 years later that I owe $7000 in penalties and interest! He requested a penalty abatement on my behalf by lying to NY state that the accountant went into labor while doing my taxes. I requested that he pay for his responsibility of $3700. He would only agree to pay for $1000. He claims it's my responsibility to audit him and tell him that they were not filed. I am suing him in small claims. read more

David is one the of extraordinary CPA I have ever met in my life. I have been working with him since 2019. He is professional, caring and efficiently. I highly recommended him. read more

I still haven't received my tax refund. It's been over 8 months. I emailed him asking about it but he hasn't not replied. I would never use his service again. read more

I would not recommend unless you can speak the dialect of the person that answers. I asked about a consultation she said no we don't. I asked if I can just book an appointment she did say something that I'm sure isn't English and hung up. I called 7/19/22 4:14PM read more

Worst. Still didn't get my refund. When I call to ask them, the guy said he doesn't have time and hang up on me. Bad service. Only nice when you go to give them money. read more

If I could give David ten stars, I would. I came to him with a complicated tax issue and he helped me resolve it within days. He is prompt, courteous, and makes himself available when you need him. I wholeheartedly recommend David as a tax professional! read more

David is excellent - I will be returning for years to come and recommend him to others. I've been searching for a CPA in Queens that will sit down and talk. I found David on Yelp, and he did not disappoint. I visited the office to file my taxes and asked him a set of questions regarding my financial plan, which he answered very thoroughly and honestly. I'm usually a procrastinator with filing my taxes, but his services were seamless, effective, and comedic. I will be filing early with him next year. read more

He filed my tax wrong three years ago, now IRS audit me with extra interest. I went back to talk to him, he refuse any reimburse. You have to PAY FOR HIS MISTAKE! He claim nothing you can do to against him, he can do whatever. He also did my friend's tax for three years, now she receive IRS audit letter for every year! Apparently IRS only go after you, choose a better accountant. read more

This was a mistake for me and I regret it. I recognize the company has done a good job for others, but this had impacted me personally. 1. My taxes were filed late, when I had submitted my forms on time. I received my tax refund 5-6 months later, when this is normally not the case - this was most likely due to the late filing. I did not know it was even filed late, until I received an unexpected letter from the IRS - the company did not tell me. 2. The staff is not very responsive via phone or email - during busy season or not, since I had many questions with my circumstance. English is also rather poor via email or phone, so communication is sometimes difficult. I will not come back next year to file my taxes even if it is of less cost considering my experience. I do not recommend to come here for your taxes. read more

Which I could give zero star. It was my first time to filed my tax with this company. David, the owner he was nice at first. But I'm not sure if he or his employee did something wrong to my tax. It filed my tax 2 - 3 years behind. I ask them, will I get penalty or have to pay anything? They told me no and said I'll get refund around $400. Now, I got a letter from IRS that I have to pay them $1,100. So, I called him and tried to ask. He hung up and block my number. Hung up and block is very immature. Such a bad service and unprofessional. read more

I've been filing my LLC and personal taxes for the family with Chatham Accounting services for 3 years, David manage to provide me with a very good experience each visited, I've never had any problems afterward. For those who prefer filing in the city, he also recently opened up another location in Midtown, 5 Penn plaza. Compare to other services, David is very informative, and skilled, I got to David by the recommendation from one of the bank agent that i used. You could ask right in front of him about your taxes and your situation, and he would explain to you the reason behind each number, rather than charging you and left you hanging, the service fee is very reasonable and not too excessive. For time sensitive clients, you can book with David and he would finish up the tax for you right away without having to come back and pick up. The only downside is, in taxing season, you might find it to be a little difficult to get your tax done without appointment, I walked-in in my first year and it took me 2 hours waiting on the line. If you'd like to book with David, I suggest email a week before. read more

Very reasonable priced! Great accountant! He does taxes in front of you while you wait. Other places make you drop off and come pick up the following week. He has a paperless office atmosphere. read more

David was great! My schedule is somewhat difficult and came earlier into the office for me. I was nervous about the process since it's my first time filing since I graduated but he walked me through the steps of filing both my Corp and personal taxes. He was efficient and made the whole process painless! I would definitely recommended his services! read more

Worst accountant EVER! It is a waste of money! Bad service, the guy hangs up on me when I called them. Took them a months for a single person regular tax filing, almost missed my deadline. i will not come here anymore. read more

As a new customer, I just asked a couple of questions over the phone. I was shocked these questions made Mr. Zhang to loss patience. I do not know why! read more

David is great! Been using him for years now. He knows all my info and I'm out there in less than 20 mins. He's extremely professional and doesn't give you the run around. I've referred all my friends and family to him. Not everyday do you get to have an accountant who's great and a comedian at the same time. read more

I came to David on the recommendation of two friends of mine and I was very impressed! Very honest, professional, and quick! Unlike other accountants that ask you to drop off your documents at their office and come back a week later, he does your taxes in front of you and talks you through it - I truly felt like I could trust him and that he knew exactly what he was doing. He is everything I was looking for in my new accountant - very smart, very careful, and has your best interests in mind. Great guy and very easy to work with! I will definitely be coming to him from now on. read more

I used TurboTax for years but felt my taxes were a little bit more complex this year after buying a coop. Preferred going to an actual human this time around to be sure everything was handled correctly. David was quick, friendly and helpful. The whole process was simple, I will be going back here again next year as I prefer having a tax human to refer to instead! read more

Great expertise, provided spot on advice related to LLC accounting. Very reasonable fees for service as well.

They were very easy to work with and went the extra mile to make doing my taxes as painless as possible

I came here to do my taxes this year. David was very patient and extremely knowledgable. He tried several options with various itemized deductions to help me save money and we ended up with a bigger refund than I had expected. I will definitely come back again. read more
