After over 20 years of personal and home office tax accounting, and them reaching out to make an…read moreappointment for this year 5-6 weeks ago, they cancelled with a few hours' notice, after I had uploaded all documents to their secure portal. My last straw with a declining business. This stems back to a dispute from last tax year--they did not review my return carefully, resulting in a careless error in reporting out of state income I documented and a five-month delay in getting my state refund. They were casual and non-communicative about a letter from the state with a deadline for response, to which I had to rush a reply to get a postmark to be in legal compliance. They were indifferent that a significant refund was at stake. In a previous year, a server went down and they lost all returns. Careless. Another year we had to submit additional documentation to the state as they said that their software had a glitch which affected many clients' returns. Bureaucratic and unreliable. Tony used to provide a personal touch. But it's a large bureaucratic operation, he doesn't even give a simply reply like "I'm working on this matter" when he is CC'd on an urgent matter. The receptionist tell you "it was on Tony's calendar for last week," not "Tony has taken care of this." It used to be in person annual appointments, then went to Zoom, and then became by telephone. The amount of time was reduced very year, even as fees outpaced inflation. It's overpriced, and the service and reliability are not at all what they used to be. Tony used to be a nice guy and very professional, but he's only a shadow of what he used to be.

Disclaimer: I was recommended to utilize David Zhang's expertise by a family friend of David. This…read morereview is not on the employee (who was pleasant) but it is on David. I first went to consult David back in March 2022 and he was great. He answered all my tax questions and I was in and out of the office in no time. I thought to myself, great, I just found an amazing accountant in my neighborhood. During that time, I explained to David about my situation and he responded to come back to me when tax season is over and all he has to do is to file a 1040x (to amend my tax return - 1040). (Side note: The issue that I had was that I initially e-filed my taxes. The federal rejected it but the state accepted it. Which is why I went to seek professional services in resolving the problem). So on December 12, 2022 at 1:30pm I went to see David and his office was busy. I told David I did not have an appointment and I asked, "should I make an appointment"? He decided to hear me out at first but then he passed my case to one of his employees. The employee explained to me that since I did not file my taxes 2020 taxes with them, there is nothing that they can do and I would have to come back during tax season. I tried to explain to them what David told me back in April (to come back after tax season) and David told his employee in Chinese "just ignore him, he is too annoying". Yup, just because someone doesn't speak the language, doesn't mean the person does not understand. The funny thing is that, just over the weekend, the same family friend asked me how was my experience with David because she wanted to file her taxes with him for the upcoming year. I raved about how great he was the first time around but after this experience, it got me to think: if a family friend doesn't even use your service in the first place, it is extremely telling of your professional demeanor or the lack thereof. This review will probably not affect the business but if you are looking for a tax accountant in Elmhurst, stay far away from this place.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, your reply reinforces the very concern raised in my…read morereview rather than addressing it. Your response is also very similar to responses I have seen from your firm to other clients who have described concerns with the level of service, communication, and support they received. Rather than addressing the underlying feedback, the response appears focused on defending the firm's position. Regarding the notice itself, I think it is important not to minimize what occurred based solely on the title of the document. Whether your firm characterizes it as a New York State Request for Information rather than an "audit," it was a tax-authority inquiry concerning my tax filing that required documentation and a response. The distinction in terminology does not change the fact that I contacted the tax professional who prepared my return because I needed guidance and assistance responding to that inquiry. As for my records, they were ultimately provided, but only after multiple calls to your office followed by an email advising that the documents needed to be released by a specific date and time. So while you can accurately state that the records were eventually delivered, that does not address the communication and service issues that led to the escalation in the first place. More importantly, the issue regarding depreciation was not simply that I later became interested in obtaining a depreciation schedule. During the engagement, I was not clearly advised that this documentation was necessary to properly establish the depreciable basis or appropriately allocate the property between land and building. As the tax professional engaged to prepare my return, I expected your firm to request the information necessary to properly prepare the return and to guide me through those requirements. That did not occur. That is the feedback I believe your firm should take from this experience. Rather than focusing on defending the wording of a review or distinguishing between an audit and a request for information, I would encourage the firm to use this feedback to improve clarity, communication, documentation requests, and client education during the engagement. Those are the issues that ultimately matter to the client.

Tax expertise at its best! Back in 2025, I desperately needed to find a certified public accountant…read more(CPA) to handle my taxes. I had a sensitive and unique issue that could only be addressed by a CPA. But not just any CPA, I needed someone that was knowledgeable and would be able to defend their work in case of an audit. After searching around, I came across Ahad & Co and what a relief and blessing they are. I simply called them, explained my issue, then I was connected with one of their professionals. The CPA confirmed that it was something they could tackle and we began the process. At the time, I was working with Tarikur, an absolute treasure to work with! He explained what needed to be done, asked all pertinent questions, and guided me thru the process. In the end, I came back with an awesome refund, and greater than that, I had a peace of mind with regard to my situation. Fast forward to 2026, I did not hesitate to have them prepare my taxes again. Unfortunately, Tarikur is no longer there, but I was assisted by Akram. There were some delays but he completed my taxes before the deadline and his did a great job preparing everything. I found it very easy to review my return and understand his rationale for his preparation. Furthermore, I received a great return again and I could not be more pleased! Aside from my experience with the staff, I really appreciate their customer portal. There is no need to email anything because you can upload all of your documents to their secure portal. You can also chat with your rep, pay your invoices, and download your returns, all in one place. I especially appreciated that as a returning customer, all my documents were there, so Akram was able to see what was done last year. Super efficient! In terms of pricing, they will seem high if you are used to doing your own taxes or maybe you've gone to a local tax preparer. However, it's important to understand that these are true tax experts who can navigate any situation, so you're in good hands. If you are dealing with a sensitive tax situation and want a peace of mind, I highly recommend using them. I will definitely be returning in the future, even if I do not have a sensitive situation, as I truly appreciate their service. Thank you Ahad & Co.!

I reached out to them months later inquiring about the filing for another matter and they casually informed me they never filed them. They offered plenty of excuses, blamed me for filing them within the legal submission parameters (i.e. on/by April 15th), and offered zero compensation for their egregious error. They actually proceeded to charge me the full amount to file and even expected me to pay the late-filing & extension fees that I incurred as a direct and sole result of an accounting firm's inability to file taxes! Every single representative I have dealt with is allergic to accountability and deals exclusively in excuses. Shameful and unprofessional behavior all around... especially from Edderkys Gonzalez and the ceo, Ahad Ali. He is full of excuses all while admitting they screwed up. They offered $100 off of preparation service for this year...I immediately declined. Then they offered $200 off and I immediately declined. That is a fraction of what they cost me already from last year in late penalties alone and the ceo told me the absolute most he could discount tax preparation at his own company was $200. Clearly a lie. He's the ceo of a small, private, company...not the ceo of Goldman Sachs.

The firm stated that everything I asked to get written off was included in the return. I had to come back twice on the top of my original visit with each time finding out not everything was written off. If I didn't check, the firms negligence would have cost me an additional ~$5,000 in federal and state taxes.
