The one and only reason this company received one star from me is because of Elvis. He was very personable and kind. Firstly I was told that this tow truck company would come and retrieve my car in less than an hour. It took over three hours with them constantly pushing the time later and later each time I called. Thankfully Elvis managed to get my car to the auto body shop in one piece and all was well! Upon getting my car from the auto body shop this morning and driving home i noticed that the tow hitch was still in the front of my car which i tried to pull and get out. I called the company since they mistakenly left it in and spoke to rich, Richard, who would not give me his last name although he obviously knew mine. He told me try to do it myself or come to Manhattan. I told him i couldn't and i wasn't coming out to Manhattan from Brooklyn for something that was their fault. He then had the nerve to ask me if i had a boyfriend or a husband to which i responded no I'm a single woman what in the world. He was beyond unprofessional and unhelpful!!!!! These guys are awesome! I called for an oil change- they said after 1. I got there at 12:30 and they took me right away. They let me sit in the office to do some work while waiting. They were fast and nice. While there they noticed my tail light was busted. They ordered one right away and told me to come back the next day in the afternoon. I went two days later. I just showed up- they said stay in your car. They did it for me right there while I was waiting. Fast and nice and that's what I want. I can not speak to prices because it's a fleet vehicle so I never see the cost. This is not a fancy place where you go in, wait, have coffee in the lounge etc. It's a dirty- greasy garage- and as long as they stay as fast and courteous as they were- that's plenty good for me. read more

He saved my girlfriend and I by towing our car on VALENTINES DAY after I got a flat tire picking up my shnookums from work (thanks babe). Bobby was so awesome and polite that my girlfriend and I were actually happy we got a flat tire and had the privilege to have someone as awesome as Bobby help us out. Customer service like this doesnt come around very often. He actually gave us a handshake. WHAT!? He was very accommodating even after he towed our car by making a U-turn to give our battery a jump after it died during transportation, lol. These guys were terrific! I broke down outside of the Lincoln Tunnel on a Friday afternoon. Smoke was streaming outside of the hood and the Port Authority, although courteous and helpful, was not happy. They diagnosed the problem, poured in my fluids and assured me that I would make it back to Jersey through the tunnel, which I did. The traffic was horrendous, with lots of stop and go, but the old trooper made it back in. My only complaint was that it took the Tow Truck 2 hrs to get there. But the driver was courteous and cooperative. I even thought above feeding the pidgeons. It was $40 and mostly, my fluids. But it was quick and a lifesaver. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I used E & M Auto for emergency roadside assistance through GEICO. Their tow truck driver, Bobby, made a terrible situation a lot better in several ways: He arrived fast, and greeted me with a friendly handshake. He got the car on the flatbed quickly. He drove very safely through Manhattan. He was very personable. I hope E & M knows what a teriffic asset they have in this driver. Bobby is a first class professional. I'm with other reviewer - Bobby is fantastic and helped me out with a stuck car in a tight spot. The GEICO folks (from somewhere down south) just couldn't understand what I was explaining about lifts and parking lots in Manhattan. One of the other toe companies that they contacted simply gave up and said they couldn't help. Bobby, however, agreed to first take a look, and then figured out what needed to be done. My insurance company scheduled a tow from this company and the tow truck driver NEVER CAME! This appointment had been made 2 days in advance for an 8am tow. Usually, the tow truck person will call ~10mins in advance to confirm the location. I called them at 7:50am to be sure someone was on their way and I was assured the tow truck was just getting gas and should be there shortly. I called back at 8:15am (since no one had called me to update me) and I was told the driver was 5 miles away. I called back at 8:30am and there was no answer. I finally called my insurance company and I rescheduled with a different tow truck company. E&M never came and gave me false information about a driver who was supposedly "on their way" for almost an hour. I would have understood if they called me to inform me of a delay but they never initiated communication with me. I DO NOT recommend this company at all. They seem highly unprofessional. I ended up using PANJSHIR TOWING INC and they were amazing!!!! I highly recommend them if your car needs to be towed. Very professional and prompt. read more

I went here for the first time at 5pm on a Friday before labor day weekend so I'm not sure if my experience was typical, with that said: Right from when I pulled up, the attendant was extremely helpful and nice. The guys working there were very focused on what had to be done which, while they skipped a few social niceties, was actually appreciated because I wanted to get in and get out quickly. I went in to have a plastic piece re-attached to the bottom of my car and while the car was on the lift they pointed out a nail that was in the back tire (which was amazing since I was going on a road trip the next day!). It took literally 10 minutes to fix both. The only thing that stops me from giving this place five stars is the boss was a little unclear as to how he got to the price he did. He kind of just mumbled a price range when I asked him how much it would be. I don't know how much car repair costs so I could be blissfully ignorant of how much I got ripped off, but, it cost $20 to plug the hole in my wheel and $30 to screw in the plastic thing. The attendant kind of laughed (in a pleasant although somewhat concerning (!) way) when I told him how much the boss said it would be but $50 almost seemed like a bargain for a quick, no fuss job - especially in Manhattan. Will definitely go here again in an emergency / in general if I can confirm the pricing is fair. read more

Incredible service. I agree with the previous review - Manny was wonderful! My car was dead and I called GEICO for a tow and it turned out it wasn't the battery. Manny came quickly and was so friendly and helpful. He diagnosed my car in the rain (properly!) and brought my car all the way to the Audi dealership on the west side from York avenue. I would definitely recommend E&M. I hope they know how great of an employee Manny is!! read more

Completely agree with the review about inspection. They wanted me to change four tires and my alternator or i would get failed. I had to argue that i got them changed last year and that ive had no problems with my alternator. It was the only place in hells kitchen that was available as my usual place was full. This place was great. When my 2002 car was stopped, blocking traffic, at 9pm on a busy Saturday night in Greenwich Village, GEICO called E&M to come and tow my car. They said 20 to 30 minutes. They were there in 19 minutes. They explained that they would have to store my car until the service center at the Brooklyn dealer, or my usual mechanic was open. They also offered to try to service the car if I wanted them to, but I preferred my mechanic or a Subaru dealer. When I called E&M ay 8am Monday and gave them the address of my mechanic in Brooklyn, the dispatcher said, "I am sorry but your car won't leave here until 10am. I have four other cars before you". At 10:20 the E&M tow truck driver called and asked if the name of my mechanic's garage was ......I had only given them the address. The car was already there and the E&M driver was just checking before he dropped the car off. Great service, great communication. If there's a next time I'd even trust them to service the car!!! read more

I went in needing an estimate for damage on my 2013 Mercedes E 350 and was planning on doing the work there but the 2 men working on a Saturday were so rude from the beginning. They even told me to go to the dealer which makes no sense if i wanted to go to the dealer I would have and then they told me to leave. Wow!! Stay away!! read more

These guys are scammers - do NOT use them! Like an idiot I waited till late in the month to get my car inspected. E & M wouldn't pass me unless I got two new tires. They put "Verenti" tires on my car and charged me $200/each. They told me the tires were distributed by Goodyear but I discovered online that they're low-end Sears tires that retail for $77/each! So besides the labor I paid E & M $246 in bogus mark-up fees. To top it off, I had to replace these crappy tires after only 16K miles. Rip-off artists! read more

This towing company is very unreliable. Ordered a tow truck from this company E & M Auto Shop in NYC through my insurance company and it took them 4 hours to pick up my car. They had excuses after excuses (tow breaking down, traffic, etc). DO NOT let your insurance company or do not call yourself these people because you will not have a good time. On top of that, after 4 hours of waiting I let them take the car to the shop and I went to the subway but not before the tow truck driver asking me for a tip before leaving. Ridiculous!!! I do not mind giving anybody a nice tip for good or even average service but I felt stupid giving this guy a tip after waiting 4 hours!! I had to let them take my car to their shop because by the time they got to my car my preffered had already closed. So they offered to take the car to their shop until next morning to then tow it to my shop. I do have to admit that next day they promised they would deliver my car to the shop by 930am and the next morning it was there just a little after 930am and that is why I rated them with 3 starts. read more

On Friday June, 27th 2014, I arrived in Manhattan from Toronto, Ontario in my Lincoln Zephyr. As I arrived at my hotel, my car began experiencing serious transmission issues. I found E & M on Google and it was located close to my hotel. I contacted E & M at about 5:30pm and I spoke to Richard who advised me that we would stay late in order to allow me to bring the car over. I dropped the vehicle off with Richard who advised me he'd look at it on Saturday morning. On Saturday, he advised me that the car would likely need a transmission but would have a transmission specialist look at it to confirm. The car was fixed by July 1st (the day I was scheduled to leave). It turned out Richard's colleague was able to repair the transmission as opposed to replacing it, this saved me time and money. At all times E & M was professional and honest. I was really apprehensive about getting the car repaired as I assumed that I would be taken advantage of because I was from out of town. This was not the case at all. Richard was respectful and caring and ensured that my car was repaired properly and in a timely manner. I picked the car up on July 1st and drove it straight to Toronto (8 hours) and it ran perfectly. I would highly recommend this shop. Extremely disappointed with this company. Improperly charged me $59 "for tolls" when my job was covered by insurance and the actual amount of tolls was no more than roughly $25. I asked them for a receipt two days after I used them, and they told me to "call back in a few days." Called them back in a few days and they, again, said "call back in a few days." Called back in a few days and they told me to prepare an email request. When I did not get a response to my email, they told my insurance company that my receipt had been destroyed in a flood. When I followed up with them after that, they told me that they always destroy their receipts after a week because they "have no use for them." They then proceeded to hang up on me twice, when I started to explain why I thought they should come up with a receipt in any event. They didn't have the patience or the attention span to stay on the line with me for more than roughly 30 seconds. I am shocked that my insurance company would employ such a shady outfit. read more
