TLDR ; It's a tasty kebab place with a large menu and very friendly staff. I wish them all the best! Highly recommended!
This new kebab place just opened, taking over what used to be Express Grill, and I must say that it's been a very welcomed change. They renovated the place to create a much cleaner and more open space. The design is "fast-food-like" with flashy colors and rows of tables. However, what stands out even more is how bright the room is and how the overall minimalistic approach creates a welcoming atmosphere. For once, a restaurant isn't drowning in soft and dim tones that make you feel you just lost 50% of your vision and with every inch of the wall covered in cheap memorabilia. It's clear and a very positive change. Whoever was responsible for the restaurant's design deserves an award.
The food itself is generous and delicious! We had the platter for four, which enabled us to sample a wide variety of meats, and overall, we were very pleased. On a side note, this is a platter for very hungry four large adults. The beef cubes (shish) were well charred, giving them a nice grill taste while being properly cooked (more on the medium-well side, which is traditional for such a dish). The chicken and beef slices (doners) were also very well prepared, although I found the chicken slightly on the oily side. Finally, the beef "patty" (Adana) was well-seasoned and very enjoyable.
But to me, the highlight was the lentil soup, which was absolutely stunning! Don't get me wrong, their fundamentals are strong. The lentil soup is something I just didn't expect to see at a fast-food kebab place, especially a soup of this caliber. It was heartwarming, rich, delicate, and delicious. Honestly, I could see myself going there just for the soup, which will definitely help those who want something other than meat.
The restaurant also offers your typical poutine for those who want something as Turkish as maple syrup. It was a very nice poutine, so I would be comfortable telling a friend to order it if that's what they wanted. However, given how good their Turkish dishes and the soup are, it would certainly not be my first choice.
Finally, the staff was friendly and fast. Clearly, they carry the fun vibe of a newly opened restaurant, which is why I started by wishing them the best of luck because despite how good their product is, they will face tough competition. There's another Middle Eastern restaurant just across the street. Their menu is large, which helps them tailor to more tastes, but will make it more challenging to manage. And running a restaurant in this economy is certainly fraught with numerous obstacles. But it's a place that definitely deserves patronage, and I hope more people will have as enjoyable a time as I had. It's certainly an exquisite addition to the neighborhood! read more
