I had the good fortune to be referred to Marisa Palermo at this salon. Marisa, by far, is the absolute BEST hair professional that I have ever had. After traumatically losing all my hair last year, it finally was growing back but in an odd color. Marisa is very meticulous , detailed and patient and helped me get my hair to a beautiful, platinum/silver color. This took several visits and each time it just got better and better. Ask yourself why someone would go out of their way to write a one star review about some random salon, clearly this is not fake. You took the time to go through all my reviews and couldn't even read that my oldest one is from 3 months ago. All my reviews are personal and are from experience. I can even call your salon and have them look up my treatment in your office records, and how you made me pay an extra 90$. Don't get me started on how rushed I was and the customer service. I'm a super low maintenance gal and don't get my hair done that frequently...because of this, my husband got me a gift card to Dylan Keith because it's near our place, knowing it's a "treat" for me to do my hair. I didn't ask for anyone specific and was lucky enough to get booked with Kristen! She took her time with me, asking what it was I wanted and what kind of time I wanted to spend on my hair. I wanted more blonde and 12 inches cut off and she did a FABULOUS job! This was back in Nov and I STILL get compliments on my cut and color! I got a balayage, which I'd never done, and it's growing out very naturally. She made it so that I WANT to get my hair done more frequently and that's not even my thing! I have strawberry blonde hair and I came in the other day to get some partial highlights and had a very specific look in mind. Thick streaks throughout the front, not too much, not too little. BUT she still took care of me, didn't rush or make me feel rushed, put me at ease and was easy to talk to and knows her stuff! I was refereed to this place by a friend who lives in Burbank. So I went to check it out. I just went in for a trim and a glaze on my hair. My normal hair lady is not close by and I really just needed a quick fix. I have to say the ambiance is nice, however, I care more about how my hair looks. When I walked in I was quoted a different price that was on the website, so I asked about it and the woman at the front said that I'd need to speak to the manager, I was like OK...then the girl that was going to do my hair came out and introduced herself and gave me the same price that was on the web so I went along with it. All was well until she started cutting my hair. I told her I only wanted a little off because I am growing my hair out. She cut more than I wanted from the first cut and then she's like, Oh i can just blend it, and I was kind of in a bind at that point because how would it be even if I didn't let her cut the rest that length? So I told her to just cut the rest of it that length. She also thinned out my bangs on one side, which she did without asking so I told her not to do that and instead of trying to fix it, she just left one bang thin and the other side the same. YEAH...good job. I told her at the end that it looked uneven and kind of like the ends were worse now than when I came in and she got really offended and told me that she did everything she asked me to do. I ended up tipping her well because I felt bad for complaining but I would not go back. Overall feedback, my hair is shorter than I wanted, the cut is not smooth and I was not allowed to give feedback without her getting offended. No bueno. I normally give pretty good reviews, and am fair, but this place was bad. I would not recommend. read more

I feel really bad giving this salon a bad review because it is very nice inside and the owner is sweet but I had an experience with them months ago that I am still paying for. Went to Dylan Keith to get my highlights retouched and get lowlights. My stylist acted like she heard what I was saying but apparently she did not understand. She proceeded to bleach my entire head of hair with so many highlights that I was 100% ultra orange blond. In fact, I was so blond that you can see my scalp which was itching tremedously. The stylist must have known what she has done because she kept me far away from the mirror and when I went to get my drink and saw the orange in my hair and freaked out, she started explaining herself and promised to fix it. Well, there is not fixing the damage that it left on my already fine hair. This happened many months ago and my hair still looks damaged. And every time that I get a new color to cover the orange, it returns back to it within weeks. I literally spent two days at Dylan Keith at about 6-8 hours each day in an attempt to get my hair fixed. I did not allow the initial stylist to do my hair after she messed it up but the poor replacement couldn't do enough to fix it. The owner was sweet but she should have stepped up and offered free conditioning treatments to help restore my hair but she did not. I still have a remainder of my gift certificate but I will not be stepping foot in that salon. I am sorry Dylan Keith but you need to hire more experienced stylist. This was one of the scariest hair experiences in my life thus far. read more

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Mitra. I came in on a Groupon looking to find a stylist closer to home. I went in worried I was going to treated differently because I was on a Groupon, but that wasn't the case. Mitra was warm & friendly. My hair started out just above my belly button, & I decided on a cut just below my shoulders (I decided to go short last minute). We talked about it first, She didn't want me to regret my decision which I appreciated. It gave me a moment to really take in the fact that I was cutting off something that took so long to grow. When I was ready, she began. I have to say, I think I look beautiful. I will absolutely be back to Mitra, I found everything I hoped for in this salon. read more

From the street the salon looks beautiful - but it falls short. The chairs are horribly uncomfortable - if you have to sit for more than an hour it's just awful. The salon is kid friendly, which is great... if you don't mind the noise. I love kids, but use my hair as an excuse to go relax, it's impossible to relax in this salon. I received highlights and a cut. The highlights were just a touch up and the stylist messed up the color. I now have a yellow glow to my hair. As she cut my hair she talked about how horrible my previous haircut was and how she hoped she could fix it. For the record, I didn't have a bad haircut before coming to this salon. They charged me $20 more than what they quoted and when I asked the girl checking me out she said she was new and didn't know anything. I paid $150 for 3 hours of kids running around, an uncomfortable chair and was insulted by the stylist. AND to top if off, my color is off. read more

I suppose you get what you pay for. I went to this salon about 5 times, it's pretty inside and pretty low-priced (I wrote a happy review in 2010, but that stylist is long gone). However, the staff changes all the time (I have gone to 4 different stylists there in 2 years), and the hiring standard seems to lean toward untrained apprentices/students. I have long, straight, blonde hair, and on my final visit I requested a straightforward trim. A girl gave me a terrible haircut that was actually 3 inches longer on one side in the front that the other. She also told me stories about her life that involved animal cruelty on her part (threw her cat into the pool because she doesn't like him) and sprayed solvent around the chair while I was in it (I was newly pregnant, and had told her that already). Total carelessness and shockingly bad service. I screwed up the courage to call and complain (the hair in the front was laughably longer on one side), and was told that the owner herself would fix it in a few days, she called me personally and was very apologetic. However, when I arrived at the salon at the agreed-upon time, the owner had FORGOTTEN why I was there and seemed shocked to have to deal with me. The "fix" she did was done in a very "on the fly" sort of way, with dry hair, no hair combing or measuring, she just took thinning scissors and hacked with no precision until the front matched the other side. The "haircut" took place with me STANDING in the hallway near their bathroom, because the acrylic smell from the nail salon was totally overpowering. ZERO accommodations to make me feel valued or comfortable. The hack fix took 2 minutes. When I expressed polite embarrassment at all of the trouble I felt I was causing, the owner told me: "That's OK, when I was pregnant, I was a bitch, too." I mean, did she think my behavior was "bitchy?" I'm standing in the hallway trying to be polite, for Goodness' sakes! In the end, I cried when I drove away. I felt completely mown down. The end, you're done. It felt like: "Hope you're happy, you pain in the ass." Sloppy management makes this place an "enter at your own risk" sort of establishment. You may be happy a few times, but the staff is undertrained and unprofessional, and if something goes wrong, you're on your own. read more

I found my way to Dylan Keith Salon this weekend via yelp after looking for a place a bit closer to home and a bit easier on the pocketbook - and yes, I typed pocketbook & am leaving it because it reminds me of something my Nana would say. =) It's always a bit scary trying a new stylist, but Gaby was wonderful. She listed to what I wanted, and didn't get scissor happy. I've been trying to grow out a shorter cut for the past year, and was so pleased that she believed me when I said I just wanted to trim the ends. She added a bit of texture and offered tips on how to style my hair to increase volume.
