Funnest store in Monticello hands down! I just love perusing the aisles for nothing in particular,…read morebut when I needed supplies for gardening, the lawn, home repairs, play clothes (like overalls, $30.00 jeans, rain boots), pet food, toys, tools, hardware, etc., I love coming here. There's more selection and the people are more knowledgeable than at Walmart. The prices are great too. If you're a guy, this is probably your dream store for big, heavy, industrial tools. They have serious stuff that contractors use, not just for the Do It Yourself people. Their flowers, greenhouse and gardening supplies outside during the spring and summer covers a little of everything. The prices are comparable with the nurseries, but not cheaper than Walmart's or Ace's. I think the previous homeowner of my home bought all their plants here because only Rural King had every single plant in my yard. I love the fact that they also assist Happy Tails Animal Care Center in letting them showcase the animals, sell baked goods and crafts and have a visiting veterinarian a couple times a year to provide cheap vaccinations for their customers' cats and dogs. You're also allowed to bring your dogs on a leash into the store anytime. During Halloween, they even have a costumed pet contest. I buy the Duralife 40 lb. bag of cat food for $18.00 my feral cats outside, and I buy the brand name, 40 lb., clumping cat litter for $14.00. Can't find that anywhere else in town. They are the most pet friendly business in town.

Well update on Tractor from previous review. Still No Tractor. Keeps getting pushed back. Ordered…read morethe RK25 back at the end of August and still nothing. Was waiting on 3rd function valve for grapple I guess from a phone call i finally received awhile ago. Figured since told me middle of December they might of called with a update but nope nothing. Think I've about given up that I'll ever get it. Thinking I need to go to a different location to order it or something. Idk. Not to mention when I ordered it that it was $2k cheaper so we shall see what price they end up trying to charge me if it ever comes in. At this point I'm not even hopeful anymore.

Somehow Menards retains employees for years and they just keep getting better. I especially like their lumber, door assortment, cabinets (Shrocks are often on sale), plumbing. they have a great long aisle of toilets which shows all the features and water savings ratings of each. Their fastener (screws, nails, etc.) selection is first rate plus. They have the best assortment and price on the newish CFL lights and a display which allows you to see how they will look. They are the first to begin carrying LED lights, and also have wind turbines and solar panels for sale! Their power and hand tool selection is very good and they carry a full range of price and quality in each individual tool. I like their garden shop whether for playground equipment, mulch, sand, paving blocks, or vegetable seedlings. Yeah Menards! My favorite hardware stores in Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana.

Hoo boy! Some nasty reviews here. Yikes…read more I'm sitting in the parking lot of West Lafayette Menards writing this. I had such a good experience I wanted to share immediately. It's 11:35 am Saturday, Jan 21, 2023. For all those people who had trouble in the past, it's safe to come back. Or try again. I had a return and was met at the counter with a smile and a "no problem!" even though the error on the custom paint was my own. I got what I needed and the check out staff were lovely and a random staff member walked by and offered to take my empty cart. Store is fully stocked and fully staffed...and apparently fully trained. Either that or they only hire nice people. Way to go Menards HR! And to all the Menard's crew that helped me today, thank you!!

Hi folks! *wave* It's very handy to be fixing up an old house and have a hardware store so close. We've bought paint, electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, gardening stuff, and more from them. They have a little bit of everything, although if you want specific brands, or if they don't carry a random specific widget you need, you'll have to go into town. For example, if you want any lumber, they don't have it, which is pretty frustrating since going into town for lumber requires renting a truck, but if they sold it, we could just walk it home. My one kvetch is their hours. Specifically, they don't seem to keep to them. They're guaranteed to be closed on holidays and during the Apple Popcorn Festival (generally, the festival plus a few days before and after). However, sometimes they close on a random day that isn't a holiday, so we end up having to go into town anyway. They also tend to be a little more expensive than some of the big box hardware stores, but we look at that as paying for convenience.
