Well what can we say about DXL?? They sell designer big man's clothes. Actually I love this place. They do have the most comfortable clothes. I would stick to in store shopping and not ordering thru online as it takes forever to get. Just my experience. If you go to the Irvine center store on jamboree. Carlos is a rockstar. His customer service is top notch. And he is so personable. The other props in there are cool as well. But Carlos shines. Since my first review of this location in 2019 I've been back in this store multiple times mainly to pick up online orders. Today I decided to stop by and browse to see if anything got my attention. The vibe is still the same here. After reading several other reviews my speculation was spot on. Three associates saw me and not one said a word. One lady was dressed like a superhero (maybe Wonder Woman) walked near me twice (as if I were up to something), you guessed it, not a word. There were other customers (white) where and the sales associates were very friendly and engaging with them. After browsing for about 20 minutes and trying a few pairs shoes I decided that the few things that caught my attention I would visit one of your other stores or purchase online. BTW, there was an older (male) associate that clearly felt guilty as I was leaving and came over to assure me that I was not being ignored and left alone. Yes this location (and only this store) has an issue with a certain segment of the population. FYI, I'm a 59 year old black man who clearly has money to spend. Trust me, I'm no threat!! read more

Well Destination XL is taking the country by storm as more and more of them are popping up to replace Casual Male Stores. This particular store would be considered my "LOCAL" store even though it is about 15 minutes away. The selection is vast and the staff is very friendly. The prices are a bit steep but the clothing is high quality....and I have been a customer for years with the Casual Male stores. I am huge fan of Destination XL but the reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because while the T-Shirts are high quality they shouldn't cost 40 bucks. Also they got rid of the store credit a couple of years ago and I know for a fact that is why they have lost some customers. This is an excellent DXL location! They have friendly and knowledgeable employees and a wide selection of merchandise. They don't always have the sizes that you need but they are always willing to get them for you. They will order what you need and have it delivered to your home. Awesomeness!!! The store itself is well kept, always clean, and well stocked. There's seating throughout the store for those that aren't shopping and the fitting rooms are nice and spacious. Stopped in here yesterday to pick out some business and casual clothes for my son. AJ was so helpful. He pulled the file with the size information and directed me to specific sections with everything I was looking for. It's so helpful that the size info can be pulled up no matter what location you choose. They didn't have the size I needed in a couple of things but AJ ordered them and they will be delivered in a couple of weeks. I really like this location, the staff and the selection. If I can't find what I am looking for, they will order it and have it sent to the store or my home. Hubby LOATHES trying on clothes, I know his size and his taste, and let's face most girls love to shop. Depending on the day and the mood, I can be up for it. This way, too, I know he won't be running around in thread-worn clothes any longer than necessary. The quality of the clothing is exceptional. Avoid this place. About a month ago I went their to buy cloths for work and other occasions and as soon as I walked in a nice lady (no names necessary) greeted my wife and I and she made us feel welcomed (great at selling) but boy was I wrong about their/ her customer service and how they scam you. I went their 3 separate times and spent close to $2000 on buying pants, jeans, Lacoste shirts... (not a cheap place) and within a month I had gone on a hard cleansing diet and lost 20 pounds and unfortunately did not even get to wear half the stuff I bought a month prior so I called the same lady to let her know that I would like to exchange some of the items as they had gone too big and she said no I can't do that because of store policy does not allow her to as she could not restock or resale those items back after I had taken the tag off!!!!! ( I've never heard of such a thing) normally when a customer returns an item it doesn't go back on shelf and instead it would go back to the wholesaler/ manufacturer I asked to speak to the manager and she said she already did and he also said no. Well after I spent $2000 of cloths that I can't wear now I feel duped. Make sure you know what their exchange policy is if you ever need to and don't be tricked by their sales tactics. read more

The perfect shopping spot for those of you that have bigger/taller/chubbier men in your life (or if you yourself are a bigger man) that don't really enjoy shopping to begin with and just want the process to be as smooth as possible..... enter DXL!! I drug my husband into this place last year before leaving for a business trip to Atlanta. Prior to that he had done a mix of shopping online (and sending back more than half of what he received), picking up random pieces of clothes where he could find his size, and feeling pressure from salespersons in the big box stores (like Macy's, JC Penney, Dillard's, etc) when they see a customer that doesn't fit the "average size" mold.... he desperately needed a change. DXL on the outside is a bit misleading because it seems like the store will be small and a little dark, but once you open the door you are met with a bright, huge, impressive store filled with selections of everything from pants to shoes to swim trunks for men sizes 1X-6X and all the in-betweens like tall, slim/athletic fit, etc. The staff are absolutely awesome and every time we've been in since someone greets us and asks for questions and then that's it...no hovering or helicoptering around so that you are made to feel uncomfortable. And when you're ready to try something on just grab one of them and they will set you up with your dressing room that is quite spacious - and each door has a chalkboard with your name written in by the staff so you don't forget which is yours and accidentally walk in on someone else - oops! This also allows you to shop freely and come & go with different sizes or options to try on without fear of losing your dressing room. Oh and don't let me forget the complimentary water bottle that is offered!...cause we all know trying on clothes one can work up a sweat! Haha The DXL store also has ALL the name brands and newest fashions for men's wear in the sizes that the big box stores don't think are important or lucrative enough to carry.... hmm? In the meantime we will continue to shop at DXL and learn to love shopping again!! read more

Dricel immediately jumped in and began helping us. She treated my father with such respect, going above and beyond to hide, at my request, the price of the clothing. Through her efforts to hide the prices, and her genuine kindness in helping us find the right fit, she gifted my father some of his dignity he has lost due to Alzheimer's/dementia ! I just left this location and I'm disappointed in the lack of customer service. I have been a "platinum" member for years and this is the first time I have had a bad experience to the point causing this review and probably discontinuing my business. My wife and I walked in and were greated by the representative, Travis, who was very polite and asked what he could do to help and explain current promotions. He stated current promotion for this weekend was spend $100 dollars plus you would get $30 dollars off. I explained I had received another coupon for being a platinum member which was $25 off $75. Travis went on to say if my totals were over $100 and with the $30 coupon applied still remained above $75 I could use my $25 coupon in the same transaction. I said stated awesome and started browsing. The entire time we are in the store there is no interactions with sales staff. We are in the mind set to meet these amount goals to take advantage of current promotions and coupon. We get to the register and this is where things go wrong. Now granted, Travis, salesmen is helping another customer check out. Our checkout salesman begins to say both coupons cannot be used in the same transaction. Which at this time I look over to Travis and he says under his breath, "what" while looking at the salesman. I then say, it was not explained to me that both coupons could not be used in the same transaction. Travis leaves at this point which I thought was a poor customer service move since he was the one that stated this from the first 15 seconds in the building! Our salesman then gets on his walkie talkie and asks Roderick the manager if coupons can be combined and that it was explained to me by his employee I could use both. Roderick states no coupons can be combined. After a few minutes of again explaining I wouldn't be doing what I am if it was explained differently. I then say if they are not going to honor what their employee stated I will leave with nothing. The salesmen says, "ok". I begin to walk out and turn around and ask for the managers name (I didn't know it prior) and he says Roderick. I turn around to walk out and another lady associate says would you like to talk to him. I said yes and bring Travis out here too. Roderick comes up and both my wife and I explain exactly what was told to us upon entering the store. Roderick says I just talked to Travis and he explained the story and he thinks you may have misunderstood some where along the lines. I state no the miscommunication is between your employees. Roderick does nothing to handle the situation but allow a platinum member walk out. I've shopped here countless times and spent thousands of dollars and did actually like the staff which is why I kept coming back. I'm to the point I will find another location (maybe) or another big and tall business. Get your employees on the same page or stop promoting stuff that will not be honored! Save yourself the hassle and poor customer service and find another business to give your money too! read more

I went in today and asked the manager if I could get a store credit of $20. For the second time I had a shirt (fabric isn't durable) tear a small hole in the back. I bought this 2nd shirt on 10/22/15. I wanted to purchase another shirt for work but different fabric. She insinuated that it's me and I'M TOO FAT. I had also bought a Cardinals shirt on 10/22 and wore it the same amount, without any tears. I felt humiliated. I was very polite and asked very nicely several times. I really like the store and all the variety for someone who does weigh 300 pounds. I won't be going back. read more
