Unfortunately this experience very much less than friendly. I had gotten poison Oak on the Oregon Coast that was so severe on my body that it required me to go to a clinic in Medford, Ca to seek medical assistance. They prescribed me prednisone and 30 days later I was in Lone Pine, Ca to do some some photography (I live full time on the road as a professional landscape photographer). I was still having an extreme reaction to the poison oak so my doctor prescribed me gabapentin for the excruciating burning I was feeling below my skin. This medication is used to treat the nerves that are so enflamed. If you've ever had poison oak, you know it is like a non stop torture to your skin and your mind, trying to fight the urge to itch. Dwayne refused to fill my prescription saying "I don't feel comfortable giving this medication to an out of towner...They don't prescribe gabapentin for poison oak", he says to me. This is such false info, you can google and see it is very commonly prescribed for poison oak. I drove 60 miles one way because this was the nearest pharmacy and I can't stress the amount of pain my skin was in. I don't drink alcohol or use any recreational drugs(not even pot). I called my Dr to tell him this pharmacist won't fill my script. I can hear Dwayne talking rudely to him on the phone and making a scene so all the employees and customers were looking at me. I was not only in extreme pain from the poison oak but now feeling embarassed and singled out as if I'm some kind of junky becuase he "didn't know me". I presented the visual evidence of my poison oak all over my arms and hands. After waiting for an hour and all this back and forth (which was extremely embarassing) he agreed to give me 10 pills out of the 40 I was prescribed. Here we are weeks later and I only took I pill a day for 5 days so I have 5 of them left. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend staying away from this place if you're an "out of towner". What a horrible experience!!! read more

Wonderful to meet and watch Dwayne aka Dr. Wilson at this charming pharmacy in Bishop. Even take a visit on his pharmacy page and they have services catering to his community in which he has been a member of for the last 30 years. Not feeling well? They have delivery direct to your home. I recall an agitated man shouting the Pharmacy wanting to blame his situation on our President, Dr. Dwyane responded calmly and communicated perhaps knock on the person's door who is responsible. Excellent. The technician had explained and given the same advise before, but at times hearing it from Dr. Dwayne was surely comforting and no complaints ensued following his counsel. Dwayne's is a go-to pharmacy with a whole lot more! Moderate parking space. Parking lot is clean and in great repair with flowers in flowerbeds. Building is clean and in excellent repair. Automatic doors open and the cashier greets you. Everyone greets you unless they're helping a customer. Permanent selection is excellent from OTC medicines to OTC external appliances. Seasonal selections are fun and reasonably priced. Card and gift section are very good with a good selection. They have clothes and hardware and office supplies and -- it's almost an old-tyme pharmacy that's almost competing with old-tyme hardware stores. The candy selection is limited, but high quality. La parfumerie est tres bonne! AND. The pharmacists (pharm Ds and pharm techs) and assistants are amazing. They learn your name. They listen to your questions. They answer your questions at a speed and complexity that you can understand. They know the prescriptions, the interactions, the prices, and the insurance co-pays. They know their OTC products and can provide instantaneous advice and recommendations. (I had a fistful of OTCs. Geoff said I only needed two and explained why.) Friendly indeed! Came in and was welcomed with a smile and a friendly "hello". We're camping in Lone Pine from Central California and needed to have the hubby's prescription transferred. Had a delay on our pharmacy's side, but the staff at Dwayne's were diligent and quick to fix the problem. My most favorite gift shop in Bishop!! Every single time we go to the eastern sierras I MUST make a stop at Dwayne's on our way back home. I love Dwayne's! When we first moved here, I was sort of amused by the name "Dwayne's Friendly Pharmacy," but really, it's perfect. Dwayne is the owner/pharmacist, and has a handlebar mustache just like on the sign - and he's really friendly! Everyone there is, and helpful, too. I've even met Dwayne's dad, who started the business, and he's wonderful, too. They have a lot of fun things in the store - some kitschy, but some really cool funky stuff, too - good place to do random Christmas or other gift shopping. More importantly, they are actually the best pharmacy in town - always having what you need in stock, even if it's not that common, and they have good hours, and are easy to work with, and fast. We've used both Von's and Rite Aid pharmacies, and they are fine, but Dwayne's is better, so we usually use it now. read more

This is how people should treat other people on an every day basis. We were on vacation and forgot my little girls inhaler. Needless to say we thought it would be a complete hassle to have somebody get the scrip changed and let us pick up from a different place. When at home in So Cal it is like pulling teeth to have a pharmacy tech make a phone call to get your scrip transferred across town. In fact they act as if it the end of the world to make a simple call for you. The guys and gals at Dwaynes are amazing. No questions asked just made the call with a smile on their face. Cute place . Get your meds quick and pick up a nice candle or little trinket for your house . Only gripe ... When picking up meds they'll ask your name and occasionally ask what the medication is. Now this isn't a problem for me but once I'd like to say "it's cream for a horrible burning rash inside my vagina." Just to see their reaction.
