DuZan got a much needed and well deserved face lift. I stopped going to this place years ago because I felt like the twin brother that worked/owned the place were always rude and would say comments that crossed the line- however I am on a 21 day vegan fast and needed a delicious option so I went back a couple of days ago. Lucky for me the brothers weren't there! I ordered the falafel platter- let me start off by saying falafel is not my favorite I would never order it otherwise but the one at DuZan can't be beat- it's delicious and fresh- not sure how they do it! Go-to place for ordering Mediterranean shwarma food. One of the main differences is how much healthier it feels. Most shwarma is oily and fatty, but the platters here cut the oiliness with fresh veggies and bread. Best in its category! Get the meat platter with lamb/chicken shwarma and a beef kebab. You get two sides. Usually I get the veggies, which are tomato/cucumber along with some pickled veggies and also the fries! The platter comes with pita bread, so you can make your own pita with the meat/veggies/fries. The platter is so big you can feed 2 normal people with. Leftovers are super delicious warmed up in the oven. For the pita bread, if you have a steamer, put a little bit of water in so you get fluffy bread back. There are 6 different sauces, but my favorites are the garlic spread, Duzan, and white sauce. Hummus is super fresh, with tons of olive oil on top. Baba Ganoush is super fresh as well. Overall, definitely order from here if you're craving some authentic food. read more

Ordered this via Grubhub. Food was yummy however I was a bit disappointed by how it was packaged. I got the chicken shnitzel bowl with a side of rice, hummus, and duzan sauce. This also came with pita. The pita came wrapped in foil, and the sauce in little cups with caps. The rest was all packed together in a square to go box. This wouldn't have been an issue, however they placed all the hummus on the bottom of my box. So there was a layer of hummus, and then they put a layer of rice on top. The hummus and rice were not separated as sides. I actually wanted the hummus for my pita, not mixed into my bowl. I ordered the hummus as a side but instead it got mixed with my rice. If everything was separated and the rice wasn't mixed with the hummus, I would've enjoyed the food far more. Was disappointing because I know it tasted good, but who wants rice mixed in hummus.... You get several different options for meat. The Have it All combo lets you pick 3 meats + 2 sides + sauces, so we got the lamb and chicken shawarmas, kafta kebab, basmati rice and hummus with the Duzan sauce and white sauce. And two of their fluffy pitas on the side. Every piece of the meal was good on its own, so of course it was great all together. I have to say, this place is pretty awesome. It's kind of like a chipotle style Mediterranean place. You get to choose a meat (or you can make it veggie), 2 sides, and 2 sauces, and you can have it in a bowl, pita, or wrap. The bowl also comes with pita bread! I got a bowl with chicken schwarma, hummus, couscous, and harissa sauce and duzan sauce (which is basically like all other special sauces, aka mayo + a tomato based sauce). The chicken schwarma was flavorful and moist, but the sauces definitely added extra flavor that complimented the meat! I loved the hummus - it was very very good! And the couscous was fairly standard, but good! I also love love love the pita bread. It's so chewy and moist, never actually had anything quite like it before! The harissa sauce has a good kick (but not too strong), and the duzan sauce added a sweetness. Portions are very generous too, so I had leftovers for the next day! Also, my husband and I also got the falafel, which was really good. Super crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and very flavorful. It went well with my hummus! Lastly, I wanna say that we went to get a to go order from here during COVID-19, and although the workers were wearing masks, I would say they didn't strongly enforce the customers with their mask wearing, which could be improved on. read more

Duzan has the right idea but fails to deliver. They have a free salad bar (like Grill Point in Flushing) for customers that order combination specials but the selection is limited. It did have a spicy cabbage cole slaw that was the stand out but the rest of the items were run-of-the-mill. The Falafel was a bit mushy and tasteless and lacked the crispy texture contrast I like. Though the pita pocket was filled to the brim, it wasn't as spectacular tasting as it looked. The fries were overcooked to the point it was too crunchy to even put a fork through. The service was surly. The room was under-heated for a chilly afternoon lunch. Overall underwhelming at best but a brave effort for Astoria where there are a dozen other places I would try before coming back to Duzan. read more

I hate the phrase fast casual but this place pretty much does that model right (think chipotle assembly line style). I'll definitely be going back.
