Wow. A vegetarian mom and pop store that serves delicious, fresh food. We've tried a variety of their noodles in addition to their banh mi and everything is made fresh and is a hit. Their shredded chicken and also their combo banh mi are full of flavor and the bread has just the right amount of crunch/freshness. The store itself has a large variety of offerings as well - from spices to vegetarian meats to fresh rice rolls. Everyone that works there is super friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a great vegetarian place in the area. Note that it is on the wilcrest side and just around the corner from Quan Yin.

I wanted to check this spot out, since I've had it bookmarked for some time. It's all vegetarian. I'm not vegetarian, but it's nice to eat just veggie's sometimes. We came in and ordered their lemongrass tofu banh mi, banh cuon, spring rolls, and tofu bun vermicelli. I think our favorite was definitely the lemongrass tofu banh mi. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the lemongrass flavor came through on the tofu, the tofu texture was great, and the veggies were fresh. Their banh cuon was pretty good. But, it wasn't as flavorful as the banh cuon from thien thanh. It helps to add the fish sauce on top. Unfortunately, the spring rolls and the tofu vermicelli weren't our cup of tea. The spring rolls had raw bean sprouts and a vegetable that we didn't enjoy. The tofu vermicelli also had a really strong mustard green in it that overpowered everything else in the dish. When I plucked out the mustard greens, the tofu vermicelli was not too bad. Overall, we'll definitely be coming back to try out their other banh mi sandwiches and their ca phe sua da. PS - they also take Apple Pay

I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese vegetarian food and this place is one of the best! The banh mi dac biet was the perfect sandwich. The baguette was fresh, the vegetables were plentiful, and the vegetarian meat was very realistic and delicious! Nuoc Sam was the right choice for a refreshing not too sweet drink. You can also buy lots of premade dishes here!

This place has got a pretty extensive menu to choose from. Lots of options: banh mi, soups, noodles, rice, curries, etc! I got the spring roll wraps. One with shrimp and another with pork floss. Both wraps were kind of flavorless to me. Don't think I would get them again. The house combination Banh Mi was delicious though. The bread was crispy and the meat tasted real. They could have added more greens but the meat was really the star of the show! Great and friendly staff. I would recommend and would come again.

Came here for the first time with my parents. I never go anywhere to eat vegan food lol. My parents are both vegans so I ate with them. Even though I love my bloody steaks, these vegan dishes are delicious. We ordered the vegan pho, spring rolls, and banh mi pork. All dishes were meatless, but looked and tasted like it was meat products. Prices are decent considering the portions. They also have a freezer so you can buy food items to take home and cook yourself. Staff are very friendly and they have a few tables and chairs to dine at. Very clean restaurant. The parking is huge.

My friend was craving this spot so we came in for lunch over the weekend. I was intrigued to hear about a vegetarian Vietnamese spot and was super excited to try. The shop is pretty small, but there's a good amount of tables for dine in as well as other tables set up with things you can buy. Service here is super quick and the servers mainly speak Viet. We got the bun bo hue, hu tieu, and lemongrass tofu banh mi. The bun bo hue does not taste like bun bo hue made with meat, but it was still really good and super flavorful. The hu tieu tasted more true to hu tieu soup flavor and was also super delicious. My favorite by far was the lemongrass tofu banh mi. The bread was crispy and the tofu was super flavorful. I would bring my vegetarian grandma here!

Randomly decided to stop by here. Interesting that the BBQ and Vegetarian combo sandwiches were priced the same at $5.50. Wish it had a bit more meat in the BBQ. The place was small and intimate and you were able to get some groceries or food items here which I thought was pretty cool. Service was quick.

If you and/or an chay (Buddhism Vegeterian) then this is a great place for to-go or dine in cafeteria style. Interior is pretty simple and overall clean. Service is always friendly. My family have been coming here, especially for their banh mi. It can be a day later and their banh mi is still nice and soft. Just throw it in the air fryer if you're eating it later! It doesn't even matter which one you get, all their banh mi are delicious but can never be wrong with banh mi dac biet. If you're fighting on who pay, especially with an uncle who has cash... they will always pick the cash payer, just an FYI. The vermicelli noodles (usually at the front) is not my favorite compare to other do chay restaurants but not bad for an-chay-to-go. Tea is always extra and they only have jasmine tea. Still, a nice chay (Vegetarian) restaurant with plenty of grab-n-go options. Tip: they have their full selection at 9 AM on the daily.

As a die hard carnivore, I surprisingly enjoyed eating here. It's a pretty small restaurant. They sell some groceries and have coolers of vegetarian items for sale. The bun bo hue was very flavorful. I would come back to try some other items on the menu. There's plenty of parking. The staff are very friendly.

If you are vegetarian and looking for Vietnamese food, this place is for you. We ordered a variety of vegetarian banh mi and they were all really tasty. There's a nice blend of vegetables with the fake meat. The bread was flaky and a great car ride meal on the drive back to Dallas. I ate mines two hours after we bought it and it was still delicious. The bread was soft but not soggy but also didn't get rock hard. There are other vegetarian dishes to order from as well. We also got some chay meat floss which pairs great with rice and some pickled radishes and eggs.

Capha Sua Da so good I nearly drank it all.

We went during lunch time on a weekday and were met with a crowd of locals catching a sub on their lunch break. You walk in and see a whole banh mi assembly station with ordering at the counter with a bubbly worker. Cash only! We waited a bit for our food, but it was probably because of a less popular, non-banh mi item we ordered. Let it be known that this item, the Cháo lòng (pork offal porridge), was one of my favorite bites of the entire 2-week trip. It was piping hot, fresh, and very well seasoned. Bright notes from the herbs and the peppery flavor of the broth helps with the richness of the pork. The banh mi itself was good and on fresh crusty bread with a decent amount of filling, but honestly I remember the Cháo more and would go back just for this.

It's a casual spot with a walk up order system and you can either take away or grab a number and sit down to eat. My partner and I ended up doing takeaway and there was a bit of a line at 2:30pm on a weekend so speaks quite a bit to their popularity. I got the combo banh mi with extra pate and my partner got the grilled pork. They do allow you to customize your banh mi so that's always a plus (you pay for some of the customizations). It took a bit of time for us to get our banh mi but again, considering the line wasn't awful. The banh mi themselves weren't anything spectacular for either of us. The bread wasn't as light and crisp as some other spots so that was a bit of a let down. I enjoyed the cold cuts though and did think they were pretty flavorful. I couldn't tell I got extra pate but did pay for it so not sure how to compare it to their normal combo. For a Houston staple, I think I was hoping for more but I was pretty whelmed by this spot. Its cash only, so make sure to bring some cash if you want to try it. However, given the multitude of options, I likely wouldn't go out of my way to get a banh mi here but if I'm near by and find myself with a bit or cash, I could be convinced.

The baguette here was solid -- crispy on the outside, soft and airy inside, which is always the most important part of a banh mi. They definitely got the bread right. The fillings, however, could've been more bountiful. I found the meat-to-bread ratio a bit light for my liking. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi, mainly because I like that lemongrass flavor. It was decent, but I'm not sure it's their go-to sandwich. Flavor was okay for me -- enjoyable, just not something that immediately wowed me. My wife had the shredded chicken banh mi, which she seemed to enjoy more than I did mine. A couple of friends ordered the meatball banh mi, and in hindsight, that might've been the move. It seems like the popular choice here and probably what I should've tried. One thing that stood out: this is the first banh mi shop I've been to that offers multiple sandwich sizes, which I thought was interesting and kind of nice depending on how hungry you are. Overall, good bread, decent execution, and a convenient stop -- especially if you're in the area or grabbing brunch before heading somewhere nearby (like Space Center Houston). It may not beat LA banh mi, but it holds its own depending on what you order.

Nguyen Ngo was our first banh mi stop and also our last. I'm really very particular about my banh mi and have a firm POV on what a great dac biet (combo/special) should include (and accept that this is my own preference and that others may disagree!). My checklist below is typically where I find the most variance from shop-to-shop, as almost all places include the requisite jalapeños and cilantro: - Bread: soft with a thin, crispy crust and the crust should not be so hard that it scratches the top of your mouth - Condiments: pate should be fairly generous and flavorful and there shouldn't be so much mayo that it's dripping out of the bread - Pickled veggies: should be close to 50/50 between carrots and daikon - Cold cuts: has to have cha lua (steamed pork sausage) and gio thu (Vietnamese head cheese, preferably one that doesn't have much of the ear as it's too crunchy). I'm fine if it also includes thit nguoi, but don't require it. I don't like thit nuong is included though, as I find it makes the sandwich too heavy So how does Nguyen Ngo stack up against my list? - Bread: 10/10, probably the best bread I've had for banh mi. No idea if they bake it themselves or if they purchase it, but they're definitely doing it right - Condiments: 10/10, perfect balance, but the standout was definitely the pate. It was creamy with a strong flavor, but not overly liver-tasting. I thought about it all week and even considered flying a tub of it back home with me (I did not, but might do it next time) - Pickled veggies: 5/10, mostly carrots with a tiny bit of daikon. Also leaned a touch more sweet than I prefer and maybe not pickled for quite long enough? It was nice and crunchy, but the main drawback was not having enough daikon in the mix - Cold cuts: 8/10, they don't offer gio thu or the kind of cha lua that I like in my banh mi, but the thit, jambon, and saucisson were a good enough combo that it didn't throw me off too much We ordered their dac biet on the first day, which includes this shredded chicken that I really didn't care for. The consistency was almost like pork floss, but less tasty. On the last day, we chose the 4 ingredient banh mi and got it with pate, thit, jambon, and saucisson and that was much more to our liking. We bought 9 to take back home to share with our families (plus a couple extra for us), and they did an excellent job of packing the veggies separately!

They will have a butter spread along the base of the baguette with a little bit of mayonnaise to help give the filling a premiere texture. I just wish that they would do the same to the ceiling and not just the base of the baguette. Fair warning, if you drop by later on in the day, close to their closing hours, the baguette may not be as moist, still somewhat crunchy though. I highly recommend going earlier on the day to catch the baguette when it's made fresh. Service is standard for this area of town. They'll prepare the baguette in less than 5 minutes and will call your name when ready. Another fair warning, this place was cash only. Come prepared. From the pickled carrots and the daikon to the extra cucumbers they gave it was really nice and pickled. The bread tasted like the same exact bread from alpha bakery inside Hong Kong supermarket it tasted almost identical, which is a good thing because it's a longer wider meteor loaf of bread and you can definitely taste the pate and the mayo on both sandwiches I ordered. Generous amount of cold cuts I mean, each bite was just full of meat fresh tender, cold, cut meats and the grilled pork they could've added a little bit more, but in my opinion, it was a good amount. It didn't put it over the top, which would've been even better, but it was a good amount right amount of grilled pork. generous amount of jalapeños and cilantro and one mix altogether it's just a great bite. You'll see that I added my own red onions. I like that additional funk of red onion flavor on my personal sandwich, but it doesn't come with it. Price point was a little bit more expensive than your standard banh mi I would assume it felt like maybe an additional 15 to 20% more but it's nice to try something new. The Vietnamese coffee tasted exactly what I would expect nuclear and sugary by drinking a stick of dynamite. The iced sugarcane could've been better you know less ice in my opinion and it was a little too sweet. Overall great experience and I will come again.
