Dux was a delight! An amazing place to visit, particularly if you enjoy gin. They have a handful of infused, house-made gins ranging from fruity raspberry to more a more savory thyme and rosemary. I enjoyed the grapefruit & pink peppercorn gin so much that I got a 500mL bottle to bring home! Their "instagrammable" cocktails are also super fun - the Earl David being served in a bust and the Ugly Duckling served in a bathtub. Both service and ambiance were lovely. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area!

Daniel was a fantastic host and bartender. My wife and I had the place to ourselves which was great for us on hot evening in July. The locally distilled and infused gin was superb. The music playlist included The Killers' "Mr Brightside," a Buffalo Bills favorite. There are a lot of establishments in the Gothic section of Barcelona, but this is one that you need to seek out as it is a great place to seek a delicious beverage as they don't do food. Be sure to look it up if you are in town. Highlight of our trip to that section of town.

Even the experiences painted by travel vloggers who shared their visits on YouTube could not prepare me for my night out at Dux - in person. Perhaps it was the limited scope of the vloggers lens that didn't fully capture the entire adorable space of Dux. To be fair, I don't want to spoil the experience for you either! I think it's better you only concern yourself with the importance stuff: The hospitable warm welcome, cozy atmosphere, and the fine craft cocktails where gin is supreme. Food: If drinks are good then YES! Here's my 2€ worth! On this visit, we enjoyed Dux's Cardamomo & Old Apoteke (Aged Negroni). While these were the only drinks we had and our first drinks ever at Dux - they will not be our last. We've become BIG gin fans and in our recent travels explored a variety in Amsterdam and now Spain. The infused botanicals of Dux's gin in the Cardamomo balanced the flavors making the beverage smooth and refreshing. While the dressing and presentation of the Old Negroni felt proper, very unique and highly enjoyable. Service: Our service, and our server made us feel right at home. She provided a very informative explanation of Dux's menu and their heavy focus on gin, plus the drinks themselves. Ambiance: Seated by the front window, fireplace adjacent it was an enjoyable way to take in some people watching while absorbing the ambiance of Dux. Great music. I cannot wait for the next time I'm in Barcelona to enjoy more of Dux's menu! Thank you very much for the hospitality and warm welcome of the Dux staff on the night of Thursday November 16, 2023.

A very welcoming spot. I tried it as it's in the popular and trendy El Born neighborhood. Had a Billy the Kid (gin, what they're known for), and the Ugly Duckling (rum based drink). They supplied a bottle of water to keep me rested. The service was very polite and courteous and I was a solo traveler at the time. It's dark with candlelight, so kind of relaxed for a nice restful night. With or without the buddies.

Amazing amazing amazing. Not sure if I said amazing yet, but just in case I didn't...... amazing! Great service, bartenders are engaging and truly enjoy what they do. Hands down one of the best speakeasies we have been to AROUND THE WORLD and there have been quite a few!

TLDR: this place made me a fan of gin and tonics! ___ Came here twice on my trip. First visit was chill. It was early and almost empty. Second trip it was packed and live music going on. Deff two different vibes depending on time and day you go. It's a Cozy cocktail bar specializing in Gin, but they have all sorts of cocktails. I browsed the Variety of infused gins they have and ultimately tried two diff gin and tonics. Both were excellent and I've actually bought gin and tonic for my home now haha I'm a believer. They have A whole section of "instagramable" drinks also. Fun for pics but tasty as well. The staff was nice and attentive. The musicians were really good and the live music added a nice atmosphere although it was pretty loud for the cramped quarters. Overall a great place to visit for a drink!

When I'm in Barcelona, Dux Gin & Cocktail bar is a must do. I've been here over the years and the quality is consistently excellent. A wide array of Gins and friends crafted in house by the Mixologist. The energetic jazzy dimly lit vibe, great cocktails, and excellent Mixologist will have me coming back for years.

Dux has some amazing drinks, but service when we went was very poor. We almost didn't even go in as Dux advertises itself as a gin bar when in fact it has one of the most diverse cocktail menus I've seen in some time. The first half of our experience was incredible, the second half dreadful. I got the Cooper's Choice which was superb. Boozy and smokey but easy to drink. Almost had this Rich was to it despite being kinda light. Amazing cocktail. My wife got the Ugly Duckling which, yes maybe designs for Instagram, but is actually a good cocktail as well. The flavours mixed well and loved the eggwhite touch. Plus, it comes in a tub so that's cool too. If we'd left then, is give Dux like 7 stars. But we didn't. The drinks were so good we wanted a second. This concept seemed lost on Dux cuz there was just one person waiting tables, mixing drinks, doing it all. It wasn't even that busy but two larger tables came in and all service disappeared. We had to go up to the bar and order our drinks. I got the Artist special and my wife got Eggscuse me. When they finally arrived at the table, both seemed devoid of alcohol and kinda rushed to make. It was like we'd ordered from cheap bar across the way. And then we couldn't order our bill cuz nobody came round. Just wish we'd left after that first drink but maybe don't leave one person to run an entire bar.

This hidden cozy cocktail bar is a must try in Barcelona. They have many amazing drinks so it was hard to choose but I had to get the Ugly Duckling. Love the idea of a duckling taking a bath in my drink! Also, the service was top notch. Highly recommend this cocktail bar.

This is my absolute favorite bar while studying abroad!! The staff is so kind and the owner is very hands on and welcoming. The best espresso martini i've had to date. I love love love this bar.

Innovative and unique bar experience! You'll find this bar walking down an alley and never expect what you find inside to be such a creative place. Some of the more interesting drink apparatus I've seen. Went here on a date and for the longest I couldn't find a place that I could sit and hear us talk, but have a great ambiance and overall feel to it. It wasn't busy when I came but it does get busy Tarim what I've heard. It was a nice chill spot to go grab drinks before we headed towards the beach for the night. Definitely recommend!

I found Dux via yelp while staying in Barcelona for a few days and I must say I really enjoyed it. Perfect atmosphere to just relax over drinks and good conversation. Dux has a artsy yet modern feel and has a speakeasy vibe which I liked. The bartender and waiter were both very nice and best of all the drinks were excellent. Each drink was creative and blended perfectly...what more could you ask for in a cocktail lounge? I definitely would recommend visiting dux would come here again. read more

One of the coolest cocktail bars that I've been too in awhile. Amazing drinks and live music. My favorite was the tequila and mezcal drink. The prices are also amazing compared to the cocktail bars in NYC and Boston. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Had a really nice Mint and Apple infused Gin and Tonic here. The server was cute and friendly. My drink was goblet sized and the general ambience was very relaxed. I liked the decor. There were a number of folks in but it was very quiet when I was there. Very pleasant experience. read more

Just tell them what you like and have them make you a drink. As you've noticed, Spaniards are hella friendly. This bar is no different. The bartenders Oscar and Emanuel were really nice. I "omakase'd" my drink and it was fabulous. Just don't be a dick. Apparently, Oscar makes the best paella in Barcelona so you may want to ask him for his recipe. read more

This is a super cool, chill bar with innovative drinks and knowledgeable bartenders. Although they specialize in gin, there is a huge variety for every taste. We tried the Old Parrot and Clockwork Orange - both were sweet but not TOO sweet and had intricate layers of flavors. Spend some time sipping and chatting :) read more

This was the coolest spot we went to in Barcelona. My boyfriend and I made our way here at around 11pm on a Saturday and were immediately seated at the bar. The bartenders are the friendliest people and we told them what types of cocktails we liked and had them get creative. Each drink was better than the last and the company was even better. Turns out the bartender who was helping us was actually the owner and he gave us the best recommendations. This spot is a must go to if you love speciality cocktails and a great atmosphere. read more

Drinks were really good. The guys behind the counter were really friendly although we had a little miscommunication when we first got there but nothing that was off putting. I had a tequila drink hanging in a glass orb that was spicy and eye catching. It was something that was instagram worthy but I only got a picture of the empty glass cuz I drank that RIGHT DOWN. They had great music in the background and the vibe was very laidback and relaxed. I'd go back if I wanted a good drink and some jazz playing in the background. read more

Holy freakin cow. THE BEST BAR IN ALL OF BARCELONA!!! Mixology type drinks, speakeasy vibe absolutely amazing!!! Oscar the bartender was our favorite he not only made us the drinks that we chose off the menu but also made us something special according to what we liked. Got the ugly duckling and billy the kid. Presentation for the ugly duckling was so cute mini bath tub with a rubber ducky, the drunk itself was a fruity combo something you would drink on an island or beach. Billy the kid was a delicious version of an old fashion which we ordered a few of and the dip a side the the lip of the glass in chocolate, which gives a surprising yet delicious twist combined with chocolate. Definitely a must try when in Barcelona!! read more

What can I say that hasn't been said! If you like smokey, fun, different cocktails, and silly instagrammable vessels for said cocktails, this is your place. Definitely a bit of a labyrinth situation in finding it, but that's part of the appeal. Also tried the house beer made with gin botanicals. All yum read more

Great selection of cocktails. We did shamelessly order from the Instagrammable menu and our drinks were super cute and tasty. It was not crowded on a weeknight and prices were very reasonable. Great service as well, and they even give you water- not a common thing in my experience in Spain. read more

I have spent a lot of time in a lot of cocktail bars around the world and Dux is truly world class. Quiet and unassuming, we slipped in to sample their extensive infused gin menu, but quickly discovered a wide selection of craft cocktails put together by super knowledgable bartenders with great personality and a flair for mixing exquisitely crafted cocktails. When traveling we tend to try to sample as many places as possible, but we returned to Dux three times and had a different but equally wonderful experience on every trip. Fantastic gin and tonics, beautifully presented cocktail with a well thought out complexity of flavor, great staff and the finest old-fashioned I have ever enjoyed, crafted especially for me after they learned my likes and dislikes. When we visit Barcelona, this is our home. You owe it to yourself to visit! read more

Must-hit chill cocktail bar. I'm writing this four months later, and I wish I could remember the name of the drink I got, but all I know if that it was in a skull and delicious! Let's face it, Barcelona is an amazing city with some of the best nightlife I have ever experienced. After four nights of staying up till 7AM, I needed a break. I didn't want to stay home but I most certainly needed a break. My wife found this place and we spent some time walking through the seedy streets of this area to find the place. We finally arrived and we're so happy. Relaxing music, lots of space to sit and not too crowded. Our mixologist Caesar took very good care of us. We were very impressed by the quality of the cocktails and the great pricing. He was very skilled with matching spirits with the right cocktails. We wish we could've come by again before we left but we just didn't have the time. read more

Best mixologist I've met so far. I told the dude to surprise me twice with whatever cocktails he wanted to make and he killed it with one being made with tequila and one with gin. Biggest surprise is that he made Linda her new favorite cocktail drink of all time. This is very impressive alone since she rarely has a drink and if she does.. she rarely enjoys it. We'll be back again as long as we're still in Barcelona. If you're ever here in Barcelona, come find Caesar at Dux. Dude's bartending skills are fuego. read more

Had it been me, I probably would've gave up and asked them to leave lol, but they did not. Instead the opposite, which is very telling of the type of service you'll receive at this place. However, our experience was sort of ruined when a female employee came over and chided my wife and two other American patrons we were talking to for being too loud. They weren't being particularly loud and at this point we were the only four people sitting at the bar itself. She was not a bartender (at that time at least) and she completely ruined our vibe with this complaint. She had been eyeing one of the other American patrons we had been talking to before she came over and confronted my wife after she laughed. The bar tenders didn't seem to be aware this happened and when we were closing out they remarked they didn't think we had been loud and that they like their guests to have fun. This female employee apparently didn't get the memo! We sense that perhaps she just dislikes Americans, which would be rich for working at an establishment like this! She also had no issues when a dog other guests brought in barked loudly multiple times, each time silencing the entire bar because the barks were so booming. The other American couple felt the same way -- the stern talking to just ruined the experience for all four of us. So... great spot but our experience was unnecessarily tarnished by a jerk employee!!!
