Picked our sides from the options on the board rather than the less inspired options on the printed menu. (broccoli salad, hoppin' john, sweet (collard) greens, and Capri salad (not quite a caprese but did have cheese, tomatoes). Catfish was a the star - light and crisp and hot from fryer to the table - seasoned lightly and fresh tender fillets. It's nice to be able to choose the number of fillets you'd like adjusting for appetite or diners to share with. Pulled pork was moist and better than I would have expected at a non bbq restaurant, let alone one at a state park. More customers poured in after us - so the later you are to lunch, the more patient you'll want to be. On a Wednesday this might be the only restaurant in the area - I think we'd be looking as far back as Harrisburg for something else that was open.

They had a variety of choices. We did not know what to get as everything sounded good. I got the Springfield signature dish - the Horseshoe Sandwich which was delicious! It's made in house and is the right amount of sweet. We all had our fill! On top of it all our server was so kind and welcoming and friendly! She made sure our sweet tea was always filled. The place itself is spacious. The outdoor space looked like it could be a lot of fun in the evening.

Mixed review. My best friend & I stopped on our way to Garden of the Gods. She had a BLT & fries &…read moreshe said it was good. I ordered a Philly Cheese steak sandwich, fries & fried jalapeños (because I had never heard of them) the fried jalapeños were way way too salty, the meat on the cheese steak had no flavor, no seasoning at all, it was cold & the the texture was off putting. The fries were also too crispy for me but I will own that one. I didn't specify to make them softer. And my meal alone... almost $30 bucks!!! The waitress took too long to take our drink order & then seemed rushy to get our order. She seemed more concerned with working the customers at the bar. She wasn't rude, just inattentive. The decor was awesome tho & it was peaceful in there. The bathrooms were very nice & clean with funny signs. It will not be a repeat experience for me.
