I ordered a single slice of cheese to go. It came out in a timely fashion. It was cooked very well…read morewith just enough crisp and black spots but also not burnt or crunchy or anything unpleasant. It was a great slice of pizza. My friend order two slices of pepperoni. We waited 15 minutes until my friend got back up and asked them about his slices, it seemed they had forgotten about it and then they quickly handed him his slices after apologizing for the long wait. Despite mine being great, his was not unfortunately. His looks like it was pulled out of the oven early and was still floppy. No crisp to it at all. That's what some people like but I don't believe it's the standard. Despite this, his slices tasted good, I mean, how can you mess up a pep slice. The prices were alright for the area, I think my slice was like almost $4 after tax. I'll probably be back because of the convenience of being able to just order and pay right away and then get a slice a few minutes later. I would overall recommend.

Although King Street offers a plentitude of stores to shop at south of Calhoun Street, the…read morerestaurants are few and far between. At the time that we were walking along King Street; my dad, brother, and myself became hungry. The cumulative high Yelp-rating led us to Sabatino's Pizza. It turns out, the reviews let us down. Located on Calhoun Street, a shouting distance from King Street and Marion Square, Sabatino's Pizza is primarily a take-out restaurant serving New York style pizza and other comfort food. In the ambiance of this take-out restaurant, we landed the only seat. It overlooked the food counter and menu board. Off the menu board we each ordered the $10.81 lunch special featuring two one-topping slices and a can of soda. The service and food just barely made three stars. Even though we were the only ones there when we walked in and left, there was zero interaction from the woman at the register. We had to look for the plastic utensils, even though she could of told us where they were there when we ordered. She did tell us that they were out of a few sodas. That included diet. The guy making the pizza served two of our pizzas together, then when it came to my brother's order there was only one which made him have to go to the counter to ask for the other one. In truth I wasn't here to make friends but to enjoy a supposedly four star New York style pizza. The two slices just barely made three stars. Although the pizza was decent at best, especially when I was hungry, there were areas of the cheese that were stuck to the crust. As far as toppings, I felt that they skipped on the mushrooms and saudages. My photo corresponding to this business is evidence. I was debating giving them less than three stars. The wildcard is the $10.81price for a rounded up to a decent lunch that relieved our appetites.

I will preface this by saying that I have a bad habit of visiting restaurants at weird times (4pm…read morein this case), after lunch but before they get into the groove of dinner service. So it's entirely possible (and understandable) that I don't always get the best of what a place has to offer. That said, this was the worst pizza I've ever eaten. I was happy to see a place offer NY style pizza by the slice; you don't find that a lot in Charleston. Well, you won't find it here either. It was, generously, a home cook's first attempt at making pizza. There's something fundamentally off with the dough recipe, such that even a wood fired oven can't save it. The slices were overloaded with cheese. It was like eating wet cardboard. The meatballs were pretty good! The bartender was super pleasant and the space is attractive and welcoming. But they cannot make pizza. Normally I'm loathe to air out my business on Yelp like this; I prefer to communicate with the server if there's a problem with my food. But this wasn't an execution issue that could be fixed. A do-over would've produced the same result. Maybe, MAYBE they crush it with the neopolitan specialty pies. But I'll never know.
