My search for a takeout pizza led me to this strip mall establishment. Pickup wasn't ideal as I arrived quickly and having gotten no notification went grocery shopping next door. When I arrived, however, my pizza was just starting to get cold. Never trust the online status updates. I liked the pizza; the Gruyere cheese added a distinctive flavor note and the crust was quite fluffy. Toppings were quite overpriced, however, and there was too much salt. Conversely, the calabrian chili I got on the side was 100% worth the cost. I don't know how they make it, but that is one flavorful chili oil. Overall, though, when my online delivery app snuck in a tip for takeout somehow, I end up paying almost $30 for a single personal pizza, which even for Charleston is a bit much.

It's a friendly, seat yourself kind of place. Our waitress McKenzie came right over. She was very friendly, cheerful and did a great job. We ordered the garlic knot which was amazing, and then had the veggie pizza which was also amazing and delicious. We were there at a busy time of day, with dine in and many take out orders and our order still came quickly. We were super happy to have found this place and will definitely be back.

This pizza is extremely cheesy and not in a good way. I would consider this a pizza for children tasting like a Pizza Hut/chuckee cheese hybrid pie. The construction is also not well put together, the sauce separated from cheese and toppings separated from both. The quality of ingredients also leaves a lot to be desired- the pepperonis were barely cooked, cheese seemed low quality and the sauce lacked flavor. We asked for this to be cooked well done but the center was extremely floppy and soft in the center. Overall I would not order the pizza again. The salad and dressing were delicious though.

Very impressive friendly staff as only 2 people working the front of the house. The place was packed and the food was delicious and quick. Loved the big salad, meatballs, margarita pizza and mushrooms pizza.

We were on our first stop on our road trip to Tennessee and we decided to stop here and weren't really sure at first but after trying our first appetizer we knew we chose the right place we also had a very good waitress that treated us well and got our food to us fast and we loved the atmosphere as we could tell it was a very local spot with a bar, arcade, and very entertaining shows on the tv overall 5 stars. PS get the meat ball and garlic knot!!!!

Speak easy for pizza? You bet! In an unassuming street corner, in the basement is a small wood fire pizza place. The place discourages cell phones and has limited seating. Fits about 25 customers, so I always have a second plan if it's packed. Maybe Fast & French or Blind Tiger. Quirky vibe for sure. Check out their insta bakersbarCHS. It's laid back too, so don't be in a rush. Just be chill, yo. Speakeasy style. The medium pizza was a good size and the large are a bit bigger than I expected. I had their garlic knot, but it was a bit burnt, so I probably will skip the knot next time. Pretty fair prices and a decent selection of drinks. This pizza dive is worth it -- just like vinyl.

Is Bakers Bar family friendly or 21 and over?

We went during the day and it is family friendly then. Not sure about evening or late night. It is the same owner as one broad so you can call them and ask.

I have sampled a little of this & that when different people order different things and we all try them. The gnocchi is wonderful. I would like to highlight the Thanksgiving dinner though. They have a set menu and they give you a little of everything. There was plenty of food for the whole table and everything was exceptional. It was wonderful and one of the best meals we have had in Charleston. Have a meal here at least once. I promise you won't regret it.

The building has an extensive history, even once serving as a Hebrew orphanage, to now being a beautiful restaurant. I love how the architects and interior design highlight the character of the building! The wallpaper on the main dining room on the second floor is truly gorgeous! For cocktails, we tried many! I got the almond sour (delicious) and my friends were pleasantly surprised they serve decaffeinated espresso martinis. My sister got a spritz, which she also enjoyed. I was also touched that the culinary team was kind enough to sign a birthday card for me. Our table also received complimentary cacio e pepe popcorn to snack on--yum! For appetizers, we got the tuna tar tar (Crudo di Tonno), the strawberry caprese salad, and some shrimp--all so delicious, that they FLEW off the plate! For mains, I got the Rotolo al Forno, which was VERY tasty. My friends got the chicken milanese, the Sorelle spaghetti, and the sworfish. For side dishes, we also got the meatball with polenta and some potatoes. For dessert, I got a complimentary birthday cannoli with a candle and the Limone (a berry and cream-filled dessert in the form of a lemon!) What. A. Meal!!! The food and the locale are just stunning. But of course, not cheap. As a whole, we paid a whopping $399.75 without tip! Was it worth it for a feast of glamour? I'd say so--but definitely not an every day treat unless you have the budget! Also, Lucy was our server and was exceptionally sweet and patient!

It was one of those moments when they told us they were full, but two people left the bar at the same time. We were so lucky! So many people were waiting. We started off with Mai Tai's and they were delicious! The bar stools were super comfortable and the entire restaurant was beautiful. We shared a shrimp roll as an appetizer and it was incredible. We also loved the fries that garnished it; they were almost like a hash brown. We also shared a pasta with ricotta that was incredible. We ended the evening with a gin drink that was featured on the menu. So glad we were able to eat here!

Despite being ready when reservations opened, the best we could manage was a lunch reservation. No worries though because lunch at Obstinate Daughter is better than no Obstinate Daughter at all. We were able to find parking in the neighborhood and had a short walk to Middle Street. From the moment we entered the establishment, I understood the hype. Our server, Sara H., was wonderful throughout the entire meal and we kicked things off with cocktails: the Abandon Ship and All Hands on Deck. Both were excellent and set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip - and there were a lot of highlights!!! I also ordered the Tuna Crudo special, which was incredibly fresh and a great way to start my meal. For the table, we shared the Local Lettuce Salad, the Farro with Chicken, and the Moultrie Pizza. Everything was seriously fantastic. The Local Lettuce Salad was simple but executed perfectly with croutons, parmesan, egg, and buttermilk vinaigrette. The Moultrie Pizza, topped with pepperoni, Mepkin Abbey shiitake mushrooms, tomato, mozzarella, and parmesan, disappeared quickly. And the true star of the meal for me was the Farro with Chicken. The combination of Brussels sprouts, peanuts, balsamic, black truffle, and perfectly cooked chicken was absolutely incredible. If I lived nearby, I would order this dish again and again without hesitation. Considering the restaurant's location on Sullivan's Island and its well-earned reputation, I also thought the prices were relatively reasonable. I loved the vibes. It was packed but the service never wavered. This meal was so, so, so, so, so good. In fact, if we could have snagged another reservation during the same trip, I absolutely would have returned. The hype is real. Obstinate Daughter is worth it!
