I'm a big fan of mom and pop businesses. Dust-N-Shine falls into that category. My significant other and I recently found Joe from Dust-N-Shine. It is a family owned and operated business. Woohoo! Our first experience with Joe was a last minute emergency due to a terrible AirBnB customer leaving our rental apartment in shambles. Joe came on a Friday afternoon and saved the day, literally. He, my significant other, and I used our elbow grease and cleaned the apartment from top to bottom in 3 hours before our next AirBnB customer. Whew! Our second experience with Joe was cleaning our personal apartment as our regular cleaning lady out of service due to her husband's injury. He stayed for 4 hours and left no dust and no dog hair. The place was shiny and smelled lemony fresh. In both experiences, Joe is very detailed. My significant other and I are also detailed, so this partnership seems to work. My significant other also puts painters tape on areas that require cleaning, so that we use Joe's time wisely and prioritize in certain areas of the apartment that we would like to have cleaned first. I had scheduled a Move Out Clean service with Joe prior to moving out of my apartment. My landlord wanted to charge me 8 hours of cleaning! Joe came up in my search for move out cleaners and I always love to support local vendors, so we made an appointment on a Sunday for Joe to come by. Scheduling was super easy and he sent an event invite to confirm. Plus his prices were the best in comparison to the 5 other companies I reached out to. Joe gave an arrival window of 1pm to 2pm and promptly arrived at 1:30. He texted me when he was on his way and when he arrived. Joe immediately got to work and spent 5.5 hours deep cleaning our apartment. We normally spot clean on regular basis but with the the move, our place needs some extra TLC and elbow grease. Joe goes above and beyond expectations. He does an amazing thorough job, and clearly takes pride in his work. His work ethic is just incredible. His communication and promptness is reliable and professional. His price is incredibly reasonable. And he's genuinely kind to boot! It honestly couldn't get any better. I called him for a move out cleaning. He accommodated my schedule with options and followed up to confirm the appointment. Very professional, good impression off the bat. Texted about 15 minutes or so before coming each time to let me know he would be there, and arrived exactly when he said he would. Unfortunately, due to unexpected circumstances, I didn't have the apartment completely cleared out for him. I did my best to move everything into the middle of the living room and bedroom closet, and asked him to just do his best. Whatever he couldn't get to, I figured it would be my fault, I'd still pay the full price. He looked around, inspected the situation, and with genuine professional sincerity said it would be difficult for him to do the thorough job he wanted without getting all my stuff dirty. Since he was here, he would do the cleared out kitchen and bathroom (my main concerns anyway). He even rearranged his schedule to come back the following day to finish up the rest, no extra charge, so that it would be ready for my initial inspection. He could've easily just done what he could, made his money, and I would have been perfectly fine with it. But he wanted to do the job right. And right he did! He even accommodated my schedule without my asking. While he worked on the bathroom and kitchen, I was there working to clear out the rest of the place. Every time I happened to pass Joe, he was really in there, working hard to get things as spic and span as humanly possibly. He's got a huge bin of professional grade tools to help do the job right too. Before he left for the day, he pointed out some things he tried but couldn't get out. It's a 100 year old building, of course there are things that are there to stay. It looked sparkling shining amazing. He came back the next day to finish up the job with the same amazing attention to detail. He was clearing out while my landlord did the initial walkthrough. When the landlord said it looked great, we looked at each other and smiled. I felt like a team that just accomplished an impossible task. I seriously want to give him a hug. We easily booked an appointment over email for the day and time I requested. I received an invoice prior to the cleaning with the full fee, so I was relieved to not have to deal with any surprises about longer cleanings or extra charges.
