They charged more than $800 to clean my 3700 Sq ft house. Two workers arrived with few supplies, were there for just over 2 and a half hours (part of which was spent having a snack and drinking water) and left without dusting, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, wiping off light switches...In fact the only thing that they did do was mop the floors (without sweeping first). The mop water looked like mud and was streaking my hardwood floors. When I asked Jackie to get clean water she consulted with her coworker who told me that they had finished and were leaving. I'm at a loss to explain my disappointing experience with Moving On Cleaning Services, given that they have so many five-star reviews. But I want Yelp users to hear not only positive stories, so that's why I'm leaving this review. My friend in Alpine was moving from her large (3500 square foot) home and I volunteered to find house cleaners, carpet cleaners and movers. On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Jackie from Moving On Cleaning Services quoted me $865 for the full day job, to be done that Thursday, January 13, and she assured me the workers would keep working until the work was completed. Sounded ok so I hired Moving On Cleaning Services to handle the house cleaning. On Wednesday, a gal from the company called to confirm the workers would be out there the next day; I appreciated the call. But she also told me they accept cash, not credit cards or checks!? I asked if they'd make an exception and she called me back later that day and told me in this case they'd accept a check and she asked me to deliver it in person at the house. My friend in Alpine told me Thursday morning, January 13, that Jackie and her coworker showed up at the house about 9:30 a.m. and started working. My wife and I showed up around 11:00 a.m., making an unplanned trip there from our home in Mira Mesa to give them the check. I handed the $865 check to Jackie about 11:40 a.m., while they were still working. I also gave Jackie and her co-worker each a $20 bill as a tip, since my friend said they were doing a good job and I needed to leave for an appointment back in San Diego, so couldn't stay longer. My wife and I left the house about 11:45 a.m. At about 12:10 p.m., my friend at the house sent my wife a text message, telling her to stop payment on the check since the cleaning work was very inadequate and Jackie and her co-worker had already left! My friend was in the housecleaning business about eight years so she knows what a good job and poor job look like. My wife therefore stopped payment on the check, at a cost to us of $25. From 9:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. is just over 2 1/2 hours that Jackie and her co-worker worked at the house. For $865 that calculates to about $340 per hour! I asked Jackie if she thinks that's a reasonable amount for the work they did and she said they charge by the job, not by the hour. My friend at the house sent me a list of cleaning tasks which were done inadequately, and some not at all. This assured me cancelling the check was the right way to go. Jackie and I agreed I'd pay $300 and I sent her a check for that amount. read more
