Got my food delivered. There was a hair on the bread so I threw it out. No fork which was surprising, and they showed up with a different soda flavored than ordered. I wish the restaurant called and told me they sold out. The spaghetti has zero flavor. The sauce has like 6 whole cloves of garlic. Very confusing. Just bland and flavorless. read more

Another solid 4-star pizzeria in the East Brunswick area. I grew up in East Brunswick and recently moved back from NYC after more than 15 years. Dusal's was great when I was a kid, and it's still great today, The absolute best thing at Dusal's is their grandma pie with vodka sauce. Frankly, if this was the only thing they sold, I would give them 5 stars, because this is THE BEST grandma pie in New Jersey. (Really, it's that good. Order it well done.) Dusal's also makes great Italian subs and cheesesteaks, and the pasta and chicken entrees are all a click above your typical pizza joint. I typically spread my love and money around the East Brunswick pizzeria circle, because they each seem to do one or two things better than the next guy. So it really depends on what I want to eat. But if you pass by NJ and like to have some wine when eating in some of the restaurants, you need to bring your own wine to add some fun. Service was fast, accurate and friendly. I honestly only come here for the grandma vodka pizza. I've tried other dishes such as their cheese steak and plain slices but I wasn't too thrilled as much as I was with this specific pie. I def. recommend you try it- it's def unique. As for the staff, just a bunch of young kids who don't really care. I don't pay too much attention to their staff to be honest because you can't expect much from a pizzeria joint these days. Only thing I found crazy was the price for a grandma vodka pie. Was almost 25 bucks!! When I commented to the guy behind the counter in a joking manner- he became offended and started bashing me with "it's got a bunch of cheeses and bla bla bla .....what did you expect!" Decent plain slice. Pie's are good ordered fresh. The more expensive slices aren't hardy enough to justify the price. 2 of them for like 7 bucks and still hungry. Where I have a huge problem is the meal I got when I used a Groupon. I've never had a dinner here and when I saw a Groupon for somewhere less then 1/4 mile from home I instantly bought it. My girlfriend got the penne vodka and like it I got the: Veal Rollatine - Veal scallopine stuffed with ham & Mozzarella, sauted in Marsala sauce and mushroom. Psh I wish that's what I got this is what I would consider it : Some Veal - A shit load of mushrooms with what appears to be a ton of cheese but lift the cheese....see all that ham?! ..... look under it. SOME VEAL! Three small pieces of veal (about the size of a pinkie finger each) under all the other stuff way to small to roll around anything . I ate it all the veal and ham in about 4 bites pushed about 1/4 pound of cheese aside with what seemed like an entire small can of mushrooms. A solid mainstay in EB, I used to eat here plenty of times when I lived in town (and definitely did a few runs here when I first got my drivers license). The pizza is good, really steady, and does the job nicely. There's plenty of room to sit, and the service is quick and efficient. It's also off of Ryders Lane, a busy thoroughfare in Milltown, so it makes it easy to get on and off and back on the road and back to your house within minutes. Their hot stuff is good too. I've had some of their pasta dishes and calzones, which are big and also reasonably priced. I really can't argue with that. And their garlic knots are superb. A solid standby in the area, and when in doubt, it does the job well and right. read more

We ordered food for pickup. The staff was very friendly and also offered to give me plates and napkins even though I didn't ask. Margherita pizza: the pizza is definitely 5/5 stars. The dough is very good. The only things I would change are personal preference things such as using a little bit less sauce, mincing the garlic instead of putting big slices of garlic cloves on it, and using bigger slices of mozzarella. Overall very good though and will be ordering it again with lighter amount of sauce. Fried calamari: the calamari is also 5/5. The squid is not chewy at all. The outside is crunchy. For people who complain about Dusal's being too expensive, I would say the pricing is well worth the quality food and quality service. Treat yo self. read more

I'm trying to put aside my North Jersey bias when it comes to pizza. That part seems competently good though not great - the crust is thin on the regular pies, the crust is a bit overly thick on the Grandma pies but the sauce is pretty good. The cheese, meh. I came back and tried some pasta to see if my old theory worked - a restaurant can be good at pizza or Italian food, but not both. The portion was quite small for $12 of pasta, and the taste was underwhelming. I had the tortellini alfredo and the torts themselves were decent, but the homemade alfredo tasted mostly like cream with very little in the way of flavoring. I'm right around 2.5 stars overall, and I want to like this place, but I just can't find enough to like to justify more stars. read more

Got a bbq chicken pie Saturday night. I liked the bbq sauce flavor, which was good because there was SO MUCH of it on the pie. The chicken was grilled and cut up, nothing special. Crust was strong enough to hold the slice, which I like. I tried 2 garlic knot sliders (meatball) and they have a bunch of options. This was my first garlic knot slider, but the second place I've seen advertise them. My problem here was that they used shaved meatballs, like what you would put on a pizza, instead of 1 whole meatball. It just made everything a mess when eating it, meatball slices falling out and going everywhere. The flavor of the meatball left something to be desired as well. Overall, I'd be happy if I was local but I wouldn't drive back for more. read more

I ate here on a trip back to visit home. I had the fortunate privilege to sit down and share a dining experience with the owner Vito and his family. I had cheese pizza, Veal parm, and the garlic knots. It was a large group so we also shared some mozzarella sticks and red wine. Honestly I could not have been happier with the warm service, and loving atmosphere. The food just put it all over the top. Everything tasted even better than I imagined it would. I've been going to Dusal's since I was a little kid for pizza, dinner, and takeout. The slices are huge and there are always interesting flavors. The sauce is delicious and so are the alfredo and vodka sauces. For takeout dinners, many of the meals come with salad or pasta. They'll also give you a lot of Italian bread on the side. When my mom and I both order a dinner, they often give us a whole loaf! For dine-in, it's BYOB. The antipasto appetizer is great as is the garlic bread and bruschetta. All the entrees are great and you'll have leftovers. The dining room is recently redecorated. The wait staff are helpful. The normal playlist is Italian/Rat Pack style but not too loud. read more

Stopped by after seeing Mancini was closed for the day. Stayed in the back restaurant section. I wish I got the waitresses name she was fantastic! She came out with a smile and hot bread with a trip of oil, ricotta, and tomatoes which were so good! Calamari was light and crispy and came with a side of sauce -both hot and regular. Garlic knots are good. Their chicken parm sub is crispy and the sauce is just right for it. I had their pie, it reminds me of Krispy Pizza in Old Bridge, its pretty crispy and it taste great. So after Little League ended for the year me and the other coaches decided to take the little bombers out for some pizza. It was on a busy Friday night and only Dusal's had seating availability. We ordered a variety of pies with the usual toppings they came out quite fast and the service was spot-on for 9 or 10 noisy boys along with a few dads and moms and some siblings wonderfully accommodated in the back room. The pizza was good it was not great the crust not as crispy as we had hoped or ordered and the sauce flavor was ok. Unfortunately here in central New Jersey in the East Brunswick area we don't have a lot of wonderful pizza joints so they'll do fine but with a little bit more concentration on the crust, ingredients, cheese and a little more flavorful sauce they can take it to the next level and get higher ratings. I'm not sure if I'd be coming back anytime soon for pizza anyway because there are a few better options in the area such as Mancini's & Shanahans. read more

This was our last night in town and we read all the other reviews about the food and waitstaff......all great! From the moment we walked in and decided to eat in their back dining area, everyone was super nice. Cheryl was more than accommodating and so pleasant to us during our meal. The food was enough to feed an army! Very generous portions and it tasted amazing! The pizza brought a tear to my eye it was so good and took me right back to my childhood. My husband ordered the gnocchi and the portion was huge! We also shared a small antipasto salad which was more than enough for two people. Really like this place. My boyfriend and I haven't had an actual Italian meal yet, and we had a good experience here. It was pretty empty when we went (I think we were there at 6:00pm?) It doesn't really stick out when you drive past it. Anyway, service is pretty fast. They started us off with fresh bread almost immediately. It was pretty good, very warm. We ordered the Basil Pesto Garlic Bread and it was cheesy, warm and tasty. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and he got the Penne Vodka. Both dishes were scorching hot when we got them, so we had a wait a little before we could eat. The portions are very deceptive by the way. It looks like you have no food on your plate, but trust me, it's a lot. The plate's depth is a lot longer than meets the eye. We both had leftovers to take home. Overall, good experience and the prices were pretty good. We were very happy with this place and will be coming back again. TIP: Save some of the bread they give you (we used the garlic bread too) until your main course comes. You can dip it into the pasta sauce. It adds more flavor and the bread isn't as dry. read more

We drive past two or three pizza places to go here instead. Pizzas are great and entrees are solid. Portions are large and prices are decent. When I'm not in a pizza mood, my go-to is the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Simple but delicious. And they give you enough chicken to make two meals out of it! Plain Caesar salad is good too but they often drown it in dressing - not so good. Occasionally we'll eat in instead of take out and often we'll try something from the list of specials. They frequently have some interesting higher end options and they're consistently well executed. We think this beats all the other pizza joints in Milltown, hands down. (Unless you want a thinner, crispier crust...then try Shanahan's). read more

Pretty good Italian food. Okay pizza. Not good service. Lots of screaming kids running around the dining room. Note: Even without the following paragraph this was a 2 star experience. Anyway... This won't pertain to most people, but my pasta dish, while it had a great flavor, had "mozzarella" in it. A little too much to my taste, but the real problem was... later. Real mozzarella has very little lactose. I suspect what they used was a "mozzarella flavored cheese food product" with enough lactose that I really wish I had taken an enzyme pill. Jeers. read more

There are so many pizza places in Jersey (by my estimate, within a 5 mile radius of Dusal's there are at least 75 places that feature pizza) that oftentimes which one you go to is simply a matter of location. We take it for granted that good pizza is our birthright, but you don't even need to go that far (eastern PA, Philly) before that good pizza is gone. Even here in the land of good pizza there is better and worse, and I believe Dusal's is on the better side. The margarita and grandma vodka sicilian are personal favorites. Hot and cold subs are good too. I only wish they would push the creativity a bit, try out some new styles of pie. They've been doing a consistently good job for many years, and I hope many more to come. (Have not had a meal in the back sit down area so can't speak to that) read more

I came to Dusal's with a friend of mine and her family on a quiet Saturday evening for a kid-friendly dinner. We sat in the dining room (3 adults and 2 children). It was pretty quiet when we got there (6pm or so), but we knew it would get busier. Our waitress was prompt with getting us all situated with drinks and patient when we were figuring out our orders (both kids have food allergies so we had to make sure she knew when putting our orders in). I'd been out all day, so I was famished. To be honest, I can't remember what everyone else ordered - all I could focus on was the lobster ravioli they had on the menu. Mmm... lobster. And a spicy sauce? Sold. Two things The Man can't stand - seafood and spicy. Since I was without him for the night, this seemed like the perfect meal to have! It took about 10-15 minutes to get our meals out to us, but we couldn't really complain since we were busy chatting away. Luckily, the food came out just as the kids starting getting antsy! Everything was hot and fragrant, making my tummy rumble even more. I have to say the lobster ravioli were pretty darn good. Lots of meat, cooked perfectly. The noodles were juuuuuuuust thick enough to hold up to carrying such a heavy load but not so much that they turned doughy when cooked. The sauce, also, was quite lovely. Creamy with sweetness from the tomato but just a hint of heat. It complimented the lobster really well. I grew up thinking you can't mix dairy and seafood, but this dish showed that you CAN, if you do it the right way. By the time we finished eating, the restaurant was starting to get crowded, so we paid and left. The meal was reasonably priced, the service was prompt and attentive, and the food was solid. None of us had pizza, so I can't really comment on that, but the pasta was good enough that I'd happily stop at Dusal's again when I'm in the area! read more

Not only do they offer a gluten free pizza, they're obviously educated on cross contamination. They baked it in its own pan and didn't cut it, packed its own plastic pizza cutter labeled "gluten free". It was also delicious. As a person with celiac it's rough to find places who take extra precautions and don't eat out much. Def a customer for life!! read more

This is a GREAT place to stop for lunch. You can either choose to sit in or dine in restaurant style. The prices are good and the employees are not amazing, but seem pretty upbeat. I am pretty noob when it comes to pizza, but I am pretty sure I know good pizza when I have had it since my old roommate was Italian and always brought home good pizza. However, Dusal's it's not too thin and not too greasy. Just right in the middle. I always go for the BBQ chicken pizza whenever they have it. I used to work in the area and my co-workers always got the chicken foccacia and said it's bangin'. I mean this was a weekly stop for us and he always ordered it, so I am assuming it's pretty good. The place is pretty packed during lunch so get there early if you want to just sit in. Bottom Line: A pretty quick and cheap bite to eat if you want to get away from New Brunswick lunch traffic. I don't really know why I didn't give the full 5 stars since I can't think of anything wrong with the place. Maybe it's because it's not an essential stop for me if I am in the area? read more
