Chicken robbery in broad daylight. My experience tonight was disgraceful. First of all, we were charged for tap water which we were not notified about. Then they proceeded to make us fill out a paper sheet with our food requests and order at the front as if it was a fast food chain. It got worse.... they never served my friend's meal while everyone else slowly got theirs - she waited 30 mins for it until finally she spoke to a waiter before they finally told her they had no more of that option. Instead of giving her a complimentary meal due to the awful service, they charged her and then when we said we didn't think it was appropriate to charge extra for that meal they SNATCHED it after she had a few bites. A waiter came over and in front of the whole restaurant, grabbed it and threw an 80 dollar chicken away. I don't need to say much more. Horrible service. Ordered the gyro and it never came. Asked the waiter about it and then all of a sudden they had no gyro. 6/8 of people at the dinner finished their food. We replaced the gyro but after asking about the change in receipt, the newly (rushed), meal was taken away from the table. It was absolutely disrespectful. I'VE NEVER SEEN A FULL DISH BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM A CUSTOMER even after a few bites were consumed. Went home regretful of the money spent and hungry. Never coming back here again. I wish I could write a better review. Our family visit to Duryea was highly anticipated based on the buzz the restaurant receives. Please, do yourselves a favor, save your time and money, and go somewhere else. One of the top worst experiences ever. Starting at arrival, we are greeted by a pretentious host decked in Cartier bracelets (bizarre for a shack of a "restaurant" situated on a dock. No, don't be fooled by the posts talking about the view, there is no view to speak of). We sat down and as we were unaware of how orders are taken by the waiters, we go through a lengthy introduction - in short, you are given a piece of paper to mark the dishes and drinks you'd like to order and sent to stay in line to place your order. Nothing short of a run-down cafeteria. I guess the owners think it's cute. Everything we ordered was overpriced and of dubious quality. Cocktails run at $20 but all you are getting for that price is a small glass filled with ice to the top and some drops of a mixed drink. Dishes are outrageously priced but that would've been fine if the food was good. The Lobster Pasta, valued at $129, could not have been worse. This was the first time I ate pasta that was so tasteless, sautéed with some tomatoes and a lobster plopped on top. That was it. No, do not expect any freshly cracked black pepper, crushed red pepper, Parmigiano or anything else. We also ordered the Meze/Spread appetizer. While the portion was unnecessarily large and expensive, it wasn't that bad. We finished the pita bread that came with it and asked the waiter for some extra bread. You'd think that was an easy request? No, no. We had to fill out the card again and stay in line again to get some extra bread. Oh, and then, when we wanted to order more drinks, we had to go through the same drill. Absolutely comical. The Lobster Rolls were priced at $45 and were the smallest and tastless lobster rolls I have tried. Only the Gazpacho saved the day. Based on our family experience, we will never set foot at Duryea ever again. And will make sure we tell friends and family to avoid it at all costs. A friend told us that the Montauk location is equally underwhelming. There are so many great places to eat in the east part of Long Island. Duryea is not one of them. read more

What an absolute trap for people who want to feel like they are big spenders. Hamburgers were $24 and we were told they were HUGE (not.). They charge you for bread. They charge you for water. The "family style" lobster roll was actually just a single one with some old sweet potato chips. The mussels were ok but no better than we would get at Croxley's for half the price. And wow! The service (lack thereof). You pay 240 dollars for two burgers, a small lobster roll, a bowl of mussels, a bottle of tap water and a bread basket and you have to submit your order with a pad and pencil, tip and all. Admittedly, we splurged and paid for another 5 piece bread basket. Because, well. We were hungry. Oh. And they did clear our table of dishes after we flagged down someone. And they didn't charge extra. What an absolute hoax. Avoid this place. They get one star because this app won't let you submit with no stars. read more

Took my gfs there two weeks ago since we were staying in Mattituck for the weekend ... did not feel welcomed as soon as we saw the hostess.. we given paper menus to check off menu items we wanted and bring them to the kitchen .. that's is we're you order & pay the astronomical prices ... most of the menu items are shareable .. the salads are brought out without mixing .. and very little lobster...the octopus is not good.. too much brown sauce ... the fountain sodas were not fizzing .., low carbonation... total bill was about $340 for 3 people, not including alcohol... the atmosphere was bleak.. too many women and men with their faces like plastic. The place is gorgeous, the decor is beautiful, their private beach is awesome, but will never return.. This place is the epitome of misaligned expectations. Customer will think: I know I'll pay too much but how bad could it be- and hey what a view! Then they see the menu and realize it's time to be bent over and ramrodded. Well, the service will be good right? Hahaha no, you have to fill out what you want with a cheap pencil and deliver the list to a nicely-tiled prison meal dispensary window. Ok but the portions and quality are top notch? Yeah no- get lost- the food will be mostly subpar. Thirsty? Buzz off diner or pay $6 for unlimited water! What a travesty of an establishment. This restaurant is so amazing in every way. Food service and atmosphere are all wonderful. Everything that is served does not only taste delicious it looks so beautiful as well. The service is efficient & friendly and the whole staff is just fantastic. Everytime out East we make sure to dine here for lunch or dinner. Food was great atmosphere was great the only thing that kept it from the 5th star was the service. Having to check off what you wanted from a checklist and prepaying seem extremely impersonal. In the middle of meal we decided we needed a bread basket so we had to go tot he counter to order it and pay for the basket. We did it a second time for drinks also. I wish I had read the reviews before coming here and wasting my money. For this place to be considered a high end restaurant, it surely does not feel like it. You have to order off a paper menu, tally up what you want with a little pencil, then proceed to the front window to place the order and pay. What kind of service is that?! I felt like I had a kid's menu in my hand. To make things even better, you have to tip prior to receiving any service. This is truly inconvenient as you have to keep getting up to order whenever you want to order something else, another drink, etc. I ordered the lobster roll and it was so distasteful. It was so dry and the hot dog bun was freaking cold. The pitchers that they offer are pre-mixed and for a margarita they have Milagros as the tequila. A high end restaurant charging $85/pitcher but it's a shitty tequila? No, thank you. Forgot to mention - they don't have an open bar for you to order a margarita with your tequila of choice. Duryea's is located right outside Orient State Park and overlooks the water. It's the perfect spot to watch the sunset -- they even have lounge chairs set out for guests. Both the outside and interior of the restaurant are stunning and closely replicate the feel of an upscale taverna on the Mediterranean without being gauche. The food feels overcooked and unnecessarily elaborate. With a restaurant like this you expect an extensive wine list and good seafood that speaks for itself without bells and whistles. Par exemple, all octopus really needs is to be charcoal grilled with olive oil and lemon. I could not taste the crab in the crab croquettes and the "deconstructed" falafel dish was unimpressive. Despite the price tag, the lobster cobb salad is absolutely worth it and can easily be an appetizer for a group of four to six. I also recommend the mussels and bread basket. The waiters and waitresses were all just standing around the bar area, talking and joking around. Not to mention that there is not even a full bar. Serving only very expensive wine, beer and other concoctions. The patrons are responsible for filling out there menu choices on a clipboard that they the have to bring up to a kiosk area to pay in advance. The food is the served by the wait staff. Nothing is complimentary, not even bread! Tap water is the only item that there is no charge for. The prices are absolutely outrageous!!! A lobster roll is $44 and it comes on a hot dog roll. The lobster is not mixed with anything! No celery, no mayonnaise nothing just dry lobster meat. The French fries were over $20 and came in a chicken wire basket lined with parchment. McDonald's fries are much better. Overall if you want to be seen spending $200+ for a seafood salad and be among the new elite Orient transplants, then this is the place for you. Terrible experience. Will NEVER return. I'd much rather get an authentic lobster roll from a food truck! This is a special place. On the water with its own small harbor where boats can dock and order dinner. The food is good, as is the service. COVID has created the ordering process of taking your order to a window, paying at the time of ordering (don't forget to tip your server at that time), and your dinner will be brought to you. We went to Duryea's Orient Point beach club last week.The place is beautiful, however, I am giving 1 star reating because of the girl behind the counter at beach lounge. So I placed the order, and she said the tip is not Included and requested 20% tip!!! With so bad attitude, I mean I usually tip 20% but you don't have to be a b***. Also while I was waiting, she did the whole thing again with another men. This time even worse, because he said " I have to collect the money from my friends then I'll come back and tip you". But she continued, "you should do it now". OMG!! This would be a nice place if they got rid of her. read more

This additional location is great! We were able to come by boat, and the marina team is friendly and good with ropes! Food is expensive, but you get a massive portion making Dureya's ideal for large groups. Flavors are solid and good choices for picky eaters. Good people watching and a gorgeous setting. read more

I was also dissatisfied with the service. Not one of our meals came out at the same time. please reconsider adding full waiter service. food was fair at best. Overly priced. I don't Mind paying for good food, but this was not worth it. Mussels are $32 mean while mussels are the cheapest seafood you can buy, and were not even cooked through. Half the dish were closed shells as they hit the table. 22 dollars for half a dozen oysters, they were good but not worth it when anywhere else does a dozen for $18 on the north fork. Also I did not get tempted to order the $110 steak. Worst part is, the waitress doesn't even take your order. You have to mark everything off on a fucking pad, leave your table and ruin your dining experience at the get go, to PAY at register before you even EAT. Nonetheless their beers were priced accordingly but if I want to order another one with dinner I would have to fill out another pad, get up, and pay,, then sit back down and be served. On the bright side their service was efficient. I would recommend lowering your prices because you will not survive through winter out here. 2nd time here. Food is a 4.5 -5 despite cost. Ordered the $85 pitcher of Mojitos. My wife doesn't drink Rum so ordered the Vodka drink. It came and we realized it has Rose Wine. My wife is very allergic. I asked, practically begged, for a glass of Vodka with a little seltzer. Not only did the manager not have the courtesy to come over his or herself, the waitress came back and said they were not allowed. So my wife drank water. I checked. Tuna tartar is amazing, but pricey to not have some toast points or something....especially dinner portion. Especially former service industry person who over tips for great service...but oh well, guess they don't mind not getting over tipped. Negative review bc they charge high prices but don't execute. Ie: after we sat down and turned in order, they delivered some cookies (saying "enjoy the hot cookies") that we didn't order bc wanted food first. So they sat at our table for 15 or so minutes and we never touched, then server came over and said "we must have brought these by mistake" and she took away....walked into back for 30 seconds, then came out and delivered to table next to us??!! Even without Current pandemic situation, this is not something a higher end restaurant will do (and BTW, we probably never would have ate any!). If this was an expensive bottle of unopened wine, clearly I get that.....or even if it was a "touch and go" quick mistake....but 15-20 min at our table? As we sit down we are handed a piece of paper that appears to be a menu.You are supposed to check off what you want for dinner , and then get up and go to the cashier and pay. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? I'm out for dinner with good friends, I want to relax, not fill out a crossword puzzle, not get up and sing for my supper. How about a drink? Good luck. You can only order a pitcher of drinks. If the stars are aligned, you hope everyone at the table will enjoy the same drink. A pitcher of Rum Punch? $85.00. The waitress { and I use the term loosely} explains you get six drinks. The pitcher is loaded with ice cubes, which results in a whopping four and a half drinks. NEXT UP. DINNER. We order and have to get up and pay at the cashier, a surly , pushy, piece of work. The least you could expect from along established seafood place is a great lobster roll, especially at $42.00. The lobster rolls arrive, but everyone else's order does not. Until, 30 minutes later. EVERYTHING was horrible. The thought of a doggy bag was an insult to any animal, much less a human being. I work in the restaurant business, live in NY, and the Hamptons and have also lived for 15 years on the North Folk. This place is a first class CLIP JOINT. My family and I noticed she runs around like she's busy but really all she has in her hands is her phone and a glass of wine, which she drinks out of a water cup. It's funny she thinks customers won't notice. Terrible "restaurant" with bad vibes. It's like they tried to make an upscale McDonald's. First, we had to take a pencil and piece of paper, get up, order at a cashier window, pay all at once and then expect to tip for service we haven't received yet. Every time someone at my table wanted another soft beverage or a beer I had to get up and serve myself. I don't know why the employees are even there.
