My family of 9 which includes children ranging in ages from 1 month to 8 years old really enjoyed our lunch here a few days ago. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Great place to stop in Galena for food! We ordered out a few burgers after a day of exploring the town and some surrounding parks. We ordered a basic burger, mushroom and Swiss, tuna melt and blue moon burger. The burgers were huge all a half pound of patty and all very lean which we al really enjoyed. The toppings were great as well, the restaurant also accommodated by allowing me to sub out Swiss cheese for cheddar. Everyone substituted their fries for seasoned fries which was a fantastic! Pick up was a breeze and the restaurant was very fast and efficient in getting our order ready! Very happy with the pick up service and quality of food! Pick up might be a little tricky given the amount of traffic on Main st., but still doable. 100% would recommend to stop by for dinner or lunch here! read more

We were looking forward to this visit based on the reviews. I'm skeptical now of the credibility of some of the reviews. Not so good. Food was just ok. We were a party of 4. One in our group ordered a melon Margarita. She never complains but said it was very sweet and not melon at all. She asked for a glass of wine instead. They charged her for both! The cashier checked with the manager and said " since it was made and delivered, we have to charge for it." The bun on my sandwich was hard. I didn't say anything. I figured it wouldn't matter to them since it was also made and delivered. Normally a business will attempt to satisfy guests for future business. I don't eat beef so I ordered a Turkey burger, the Greek style one and it was better than I anticipated it being. I even ordered the sweet potato fries- yum!! It was served on a pretzel roll and it sure was delicious! My husband ordered a cheeseburger and enjoyed it as well. We didn't have any room but the milkshakes looked really good- at the table next to us. Our server was super kind and attentive. We came in from out of state for a wedding and we were looking for somewhere local and fun to eat--this place appeared to be just that until we walked in. The hostess was unbelievably rude while we waited for a friend who was having a hard time parking essentially rushing us to order. We ordered water while we waited in the meantime and not even 60 seconds after our friend walked in and sat down they asked if we were ready to order. We were trying ask for more time since she had just walked in and the rude hostess told us "if you're not going to order, get up and leave." So we did just that. Would not recommend, 0/10, someone needs to tell that woman that no one is forcing her to work in customer service (since she very clearly isn't a people person). read more

Definitely love the ambiance of the restaurant. The Rum bucket was tasty. I had the California Tuna Melt substitute rye bread and it was pretty tasty. For a place that prides itself for its no frills dining experience that is predicated on good service and good food- it misses the mark on both. The food was mediocre but the service was worse. Here's an example: we ordered drinks and said we are ready to order food. The waitress says she's not ready to take the food order yet cuz she needs to bring food for the next table first. Yep - head scratcher. Eventually, we ordered for 4 (2 adults & 2 kids). My kids wanted to share part of their meal with each other so we asked for an extra plate. The waitress tells me they are running low on plates. Sure! I believe that! Then I ask for an additional small cup of hot sauce for my wife and I got a pause & a look. We started with the bacon/cheese fries and it was pretty tasty. They loaded on the cheese and most importantly, the bacon was excellent in that it was pretty thick and cooked up until crispy. My wife isn't normally a fan of bacon, but even she enjoyed it. We both went with the BCB Burger which had loads of cheese and several more slices of the delicious bacon. It was a nicely sized burger and it came with fries that I really enjoyed. They reminded me of Wendy's fries if you stepped them up in quality. They also had a very solid milk shake per my wife. Horrible Service. stopped in on 8/5/23 to eat there where 4 of us plus our family from out of town. we where looking for a burger joint and casual dining. explained there would be 7 total and only 4 or 5 eating as the others had eaten because of there drive. the lady running the hostess section or maybe even the place itself was extremely extremely rude raised her voice and stated it's for people eating only you won't be doing that in here. not gonna happen. I explained rude she was and that we would not want to spend our money there anyways. don't forget at this day and age good customer service goes farther than anything. TL:DR - A well done burger and sandwich joint. Burgers are substantial and shrimp po'boy was well done. Fries could be better. Take out was smooth and easy. ------------------------------------------------------ Came in on a Monday night around 7pm and it was very dead. Would have felt very safe eating in. But we did take out and we got the memphis paddy melt and the shrimp po'boy. The paddy melt was pretty good, the burger itself was super thick and more egg shaped, like how your own burgers turn out when you make em at home for an outdoor bbq. Good quality meat, not a ton of flavor to the patty itself, but it was fine. The fries were a bit depressing, they were soft and kind of flimsy. For references I like a super crunchy fry like Rally's. The shrimp po boy was pretty good. They gave you some chonker sized shrimp. My only grip is I wish they'd have less lettuce. Like 90% of the sandwich was lettuce, which is fine, you can't load up with shrimp, but just taking out like 10% of the lettuce would have brought the shrimp to sit more inside the bread than on top, making it a messy eat. Outside of the that, the interior is pretty hooters-esqe with all wood everything. Looks like someone raided a roadside strip mall for every snarky sign they could find. I encountered one guy who brought the food out and he was super friendly. Given the expansive menu and how good everything was, this is an easy decision if you just want some grub and don't want to think too hard about it. read more

Visited this place with some of my railroad coworkers from Galena /Freeport area on lunch today. Very nice scenery in downtown Galena area. But of course any downtown has limited parking lol. Only reason I gave 4 stars. The atmosphere was very laid back. Very friendly staff and very clean environment. They have a lot of choices on the menu at very affordable prices. The food was very good as well. One the best burgers I ever had. The Gumbo while it's not as good, original Louisiana gumbo, it is very good. If I stop for a meal - I want it to be a unique Galena experience. Durty Gurt's strikes me as a touristy place that fits more in Branson Missouri than it does in Galena. The food was ok - nothing special - but not horrible. I read multiple reviews that stated Gurt's had the best burger in Galena. I've had better. And - I've had them in a place that didn't have wallpaper that looked like graffiti on an outhouse wall. If kitsch is your thing - then by all means - check out Gurt's. read more

Visiting from out of town and have been trying random places till this one. The Yelp reviews had me looking at it all day in hopes to try it. About 6pm we were getting hungry and all day we had run into waits and crowds. We called and she said if could get right there we would have no wait. We practically ran up the block and grabbed a seat. The ambiance is fun and the pace was hopping. We had water and our orders in right away. The place was so busy that the food did take a bit. The waitress was attentive and friendly. They do have gluten free buns. Sweet potatoes fries. Real chocolate shakes and malts. When our food came our eyes widened. The burgers are huge! Yum! This place was so delicious! I was visiting Galena with a friend this past weekend and she recommended that we eat here for a late lunch. I was not disappointed at all! I went with the Hawaii 5-0 burger, no tomato, no bun, and subbed the fries for a side salad. I am doing low-carb, so it was nice that I could sub the fries for the salad. It didn't say that on the menu, but our server let us know. The burger was EXCELLENT! So yummy! The grilled pineapple was my favorite part. I had asked if the bun could be swapped for a lettuce wrap and the poor server looked at me like I was a martian. He had to ask the kitchen if it was an option and ultimately I was told no. No biggie, I just used a fork, but I did think it was silly as I am certain they had lettuce in the kitchen that was not yet chopped. Just not their thing, I guess. Our large party of 19 recently had lunch here and it was a good spot for a burger and shake. Twelve 13 year old baseball players and 7 dads were seated quickly and drinks and food came out right away. Not bad. The boozy shakes were excellent and so were the fries. My husband loved his burger but I felt the patty itself had little flavor and all the flavor came from the toppings. Inside is full of crazy sayings and weird decor. Our server was very friendly. I didn't find the prices out of line like some other reviews I have read. On our last trip to Galena, we finally were able to give Durty Gurt's a try! We walked in around lunchtime and were the only people in the joint and were promptly seated. The menu is enticing which makes it hard to choose! My wife and I both had burgers and they were cooked perfectly and were pretty good. The service was prompt and attentive, which you expect when the restaurant is empty, but still is worth mentioning. All in all a decent lunch and a decent burger. The four star rating is misleading!! From the service, drinks, to the food - bland and boring. Server treated us like we crapped on her pillow. Not sure how you can make a Bloody Mary taste bad but they managed. The "nachos" did not come out as described on menu. They were chips, with a blob on chili, and melted cheese so over melted it was like plastic. The menu didn't even mention a chili on the nachos. Zero queso, tomatoes, avocado as described. Veggie burger fell apart and didn't satisfy a single taste bud. Not sure how they survive in Galena. read more
