They sold milk that was not just 1 day but was 3 days expired!! When I called to notify the manager they refused to talk to me. I finally spoke to the owner and I started by saying I had drank expired milk and instead of apologizing, she hung up on me!! I called again and the person that answered was rude and hung up on me! If they are selling expired milk that they are not checking on a daily basis, what other products are they letting expire in the kitchen, like eggs, sausage, cheese, etc.?! I would not have written this complaint but this is the second time I have been sold expired milk at Doughworks and the owner did not want to talk to me about it. read more

The pancakes are to die for! Seriously so good but they need a lesson on food service. My meal was brought out 10 min after my partners and they forgot the gravy. Sent the following email to Doughworks and did not even receive a reply: I've been buying bagels by the dozen at Doughworks for almost 2 years and noticed the lack of consistent quality. Sometimes they are normal bagel size but other times they are flat and about 1/2 the normal thickness. But the worst occurred last week when I ordered 2 dozen bagels to be picked late morning. When I got them home I was amazed to see: 1. they were white as flour rather than the normal light brown look 2. they are very soft, nothing like the density they normally are 3. the cinnamon/raisin lack the normal cinnamon flavor and the raisins are few and far between (the first bagel I ate had just one raisin) Very disappointing since I live 10 miles past Mancos and can't get to Durango very often otherwise I would have brought the bagels back to you. Not to bad but not to great, food is good but nothing spectacular, i can't really tell their donuts apart from a gas station donut except they cost more at Doughworks, my biggest complaint is the coffee, always tastes burned and sour. Doughworks is best for a grab and go breakfast sandwich or breakfast burrito, which are priced well and you can snag one and be on your way, i usually forgo the donut and the sit down meal though. read more

Food is Excellent. I just don't understand how a restaurant who is a dine-in and very popular breakfast place has a Seat Your Self policy and very little staff to bus tables. There we 6 un-bussed tables and crowds of people hovering over them in the middle of the restaurant. So when someone does bus a table, its up to the waiting customers to "play nice" and give it to those who were there first. In general it's hard to find a good place for breakfast in Durango where you can sit down, have good service and good food. Dough works has fabulous breakfast burritos and in general their food is really good. It's all the other stuff that goes into running a restaurant that isn't up to pare. There's no waiting area of you want to sit in the dining room. Their coffee cups were incredibly dirty and stained. We waited a long time to get coffee, we had no creamer and when we asked for more coffee it was an even longer wait. We want coffee!! We spent a lot of time waiting, in general: waiting for gravy, waiting for coffee, waiting for creamer. For a place that is famous for their breakfast burritos, and for a place that has such a great clientele, you'd think they'd have the wait staff to support their booming business. We stopped in this place for breakfast on the way out of town. I read about it in the Durango Restuarant Guide. The breakfast burritos were pre-made sitting in a warmer. We ordered the veggie burritos with green chili. They made those while we waited. I ordered a cafe mocha decaf. It was horrible. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. My husband had a regular cafe mocha and his was good however on the very sweet side. Our burritors were good however I did not see much green chili. In addition, there must have been meat in the green chili sauce which no one informed us about. I would expect that if I am ordering a vegie burrito someone would tell me there was meat in the sauce. Durango, Colorado- I started with a soy chai tea latte and it was among the best I've had. I ordered a custom veggie scramble and sides of fruit and home fries. The honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, and grapes that were brought before my meal were juicy and flavorful. The pile of scramble was enough for three servings. The portion was huge. I really wanted this place to be good, but it is pure chaos. The hostess is frazzled and the waitress is nowhere to be found. We were seated within 15 minutes, but the wait for the waitress to show up was longer and the wait for our food was longer than that! This is an all day affair at this point. If you are expecting traditional burritos, do not stop here. Terrible chili, soggy tortilla and not a very good selection. Can't comment about the rest of menu. I went in for breakfast over the weekend and greeted by a cashier/host who was very charming and professional. She introduced herself as Tina and led me to the dining room. I thought the chiaquias I had were great. However my waitress had alot to be desired. She said she was a manager which surprised me as she was dressed in leggings. I had to ask for my check two times and had to wait for my change while I saw her what looked like gossiping with a coworker. Would love to go back as long as I had a different waitress. The layout and menu of the place reminded me a little of St Louis Bread Company (AKA Panera) but Doughworks has a salad bar, waiter service, and wasn't as exciting. STL BreadCo has it figured out: no waiting for your waitress to come back and give you a refill; but then I'm a biased St Louisan. Doughworks gives you a big basket of potato chips on your table, I guess that's one of their gimmicks. I had a sandwich and soup while my husband had the salad bar. It was decent. We loved this place! I wanted to try their pinecones (kinda like a cinnamon roll) and they were delicious. So we stopped here again while rushing out of town and got a breakfast burrito from the to-go area (loved that they had good things ready to grab quickly) and again it was really tasty and big enough for two to split. Make Your Toes Curl Up! You have to want to find it - but it's worth the effort! Their sign doesn't jump out! We are from Houston and went here on a friend's recommendation and it was terrific! The food was delicious, hot, and the service was spectacular! Our friend got the egg burrito which was huge, fresh scrambled eggs - excellent. I got the poached eggs, because I love poached eggs though almost noone ever gets them right! Made my toes curl up!!!! Done perfectly! The customer service was very friendly. The decor is really simple but clean. They have a huge selection of baked goods and you can sit down for breakfast in the back. The Durango Doughworks does everything well. Whenever I'm passing through the area, I hold my hunger until I arrive in Durango and go there for breakfast or lunch.
