It may be hard to believe, but you'll find the best coffee in Charlotte inside a hardware store! Dunx is an unassuming window inside Blackhawk Hardware at Park Road Shopping Center. Just hang a right upon entering the store, and you'll find it. If the barista isn't there, ring the metal bell on the counter, and they'll come take your order. The coffee is such high quality, and the craft lattes are flavorful and balanced. Each drink is prepared individually when you order, and the lattes take about 5 minutes to be ready. I think the quality justifies the slightly higher price tag. The Belgian Mocha is rich while not being cloyingly sweet. The Vanilla Spice is well balanced and comforting. You have your choice of milk for the lattes (including my typical preference, oat). I absolutely recommend swinging by whenever you're craving a cup of the good stuff. read more

was my first time at Blackhawk as there's nothing appealing for me at a hardware store. But, my stepdad made me promises of Amelie's and "the best coffee I've ever had". In a hardware store. My interest was piqued so I went. Dunx is located in the back of Blackhawk's second floor and could be easy to miss, so don't! This coffee is GOOD. Like, REALLY GOOD coffee. Because they do small batch pour overs, it takes longer to make than your standard coffee shop but it's so worth it. Even their decaf was awesome. There's a one pager that explains what they do to their beans. The young guy behind the counter was very friendly and did a great job with the coffee. Can't wait to come back to this hidden gem in Blackhawk! read more

Meet Duncan, the owner of Dunx Coffee. You're in for a treat with his expertly crafted coffees from around the globe, which he roasts on site. I ordered a selection from Thailand after he assessed my preferences, and even got a lesson on proper pour over techniques (guess my crappy little plastic one at home really is inferior). Next time you're at PRSC follow your nose into Blackhawk Hardware and turn right at the popcorn machine. Not a quick in-n-out; nevertheless, time well spent on this hot nectar from the gods. Visited courtesy of my realtor who hooks me up with LOLO deals which I absolutely LOVE!! Best way to market and to encourage eager buyers and explorers to discover new local businesses! Dunx coffee blessed me with two kinds of coffee beans- dark roast and medium roast, which l will be sharing with my family since I myself do not partake unless of course it's in ice cream and it has to be done right, so that's a rare exception. What I really liked about this place other than it's location in Blackhawk Hardware- where you could easily get lost and spend the whole day (they have everything!) and the customer service, which is also really awesome, is that you can bring back and use your same coffee bags for new beans. You can grind them onsite for free. I think if you reuse the bag, there is a discount incentive. It also smells heavenly over there! Thank you and I can't wait for my family to try it! read more

Stumbled upon this place while waiting for my reservation for the restaurant next store. This is located in the hardware store if you make a right you will see it. They have a variety of organic coffees ranging from smooth to strong. He let me decide which coffee I wanted based off the aroma. I said that I am an avid coffee drinker, so I wanted something strong. I got the defibrillator which is the strongest they have. They do a pour over only and he provides great education about the coffee brewing process. You can tell that he pays great attention to detail and loves what he does. While he was pouring the coffee, he talked to us about how they brew their coffee. The service here is excellent and I am happy to support this small business. By the way the coffee tasted great!! Probably my new favorite coffee spot. It is actually better than what I make at home and that says a lot to me. I tend to roast my own coffee at home so when I go out it because I want something sugary or I'm out and about and in need of caffeine. The latter was the case when I came here. I was very impressed with the selection of roasted beans but more so with the guy serving them up. He was very knowledgeable and happy to share that knowledge with other customers by teaching and not coming off as pretentious. There are some coffee shops that are so over the top in trying to make coffee an art form and then slapping a $5 price tag on a cup of black. Not here. I was presented with an education lesson by someone who is clearly passionate about what he serves. There was also a great deal of variety and his suggestions were spot on. read more

I started following Dunx several years ago! They are located in the Charlotte Farmers Market and they serve amazing imported coffee! Beans or Brew they are AMAZING!! I typically get the Waynester which has chocolate and vanilla & caramel syrup! Best thing ever! The cost is the average $4-6 depending size! Very cute coffee shop inside black hawk hardware. The owner, Dunkin, is a very nice guy. They roast the coffee in-house. I got a hot chocolate there too which was very delicious and not too sweet. I enjoy supporting this young man's business instead of going to a chain coffee place. read more

This is an amazing addition to the otherwise bland selection of "coffee houses". I mean, here, I can choose my beans and they will roast those same beans on the spot. I've even called ahead and ordered, only to drop by later to pickup. Service and quality seems to be at the top of the menu here. AND...they beans are organic. How sweet is that? I can't get enough of this coffee (Honduran, Pink Lady). Delicious. Oh wait, I almost forgot - they have pure Mocha, Jamaican Blue Mountain, Ethiopian. This list goes on and on. Honestly the best drip coffee in the city. Roasted in house and made to order. Perfect spot to grab a cup while running your other errands at Black Hawk.
