Checked out this Irish pub in Addison. Dunkley's is a longtime favorite hangout for locals. It hardly seems like it's Irish though. A lot more has to do with the name of it. The food is mostly meaty but there's some herbal options. Basic looking bar from the outside to be honest. It's located in a strip mall. This is at the end of it so it's easier to find thankfully. Kind of busy when going in. That was a good sign. Great specials always going on. Look at these. It's $6 Bacardi mixers on Fridays. The food menu is mostly meaty. It's about $17 for the Beyond Burger. This comes topped with avocado, as well as cheddar and garlic aioli which I left off, plus onions and tomatoes. For sure it's a popular place for watching games. Highly upset this food took two hours to cook and it comes out looking like this !!!!!!!!!! INSTANT MASHED POTATOES WHAT A JOKE !!! Super salty chicken .. one little packet of honey ,when the menu says honey dipped chicken .. the place is dry with the owner MARY breathing down everyone's backs ... and always sitting there sucking down bottles of wine , she is very ignorant and rude !!!!! Not to mention ,I went for bingo and couldn't hear the callers because her and what looked like her friends were Being really loud as if they were the only ones there . I don't think that was right . I did not have high expectations Dunkley's when deciding to give it a try, but my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. Service was good, and it was a good ambiance for a local bar/pub sort of place. We went at lunch time on a Friday, and everyone there was eating lunch, a few people were setting up for a birthday party later that day. I got a burger and fries which were good. My wife got the pretzel and a bowl of chili. She enjoyed the pretzel and cheese, but wasn't a big fan of the chili. Overall everything was good and we will try it out again. It seems like they have some happy hour specials for a bunch of the appetizers, so we may try out the wings and pair them with the pretzels the next time we come back :) read more

Came here for the first time with my husband today because we were in the neighborhood and we saw Dunkleys had great reviews, so we were excited to try; however, it was just okay in my opinion. Upon walking in, we liked the vibe. It's a smaller, brightly lit bar with 15+ tables and a long bar. I really loved the fireplace! When it came to service, we had a great waitress! Sadly, I don't remember her name, but she was nice, young, and great at her job. Very personable and always made sure we were good with drinks. I ordered a Blue Moon ($6 for a pint), and we ordered the chicken wings for our starter. On Sundays, they're $0.89 per wing, so we only paid about $6 for them. The wings were pretty good, but the chicken itself was a bit dry. I'm not sure if the cook thought this too because they were drowned in the sauce. The sauce was pretty good, at least, and we got the buffalo bbq. For my dinner, I ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich with mashed potatoes as my side instead of the French fries it comes with (sandwich was $14 with a $2 upcharge for the mashed potatoes). I was so excited to try the sandwich, but I was beyond underwhelmed when I received my sandwich. I have never seen a thinner piece of chicken on a sandwich in my life... Please check out the picture I posted! I could barely taste the chicken, nor did it taste like Nashville chicken spices. All I tasted was the coleslaw that was stacked on top. This was even more disappointing because the restaurant advertises the chicken sandwich on their FB page and in restaurant as a rotating pic on one of their screens, and it looks so good and huge in the advertisement. I ended up eating half of my sandwich, but the mashed potatoes were great and creamy. My husband ordered the Dunkley burger ($15), which was 2 4oz Angus patties with applewood smoked bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and onion rings strings. His looked so good and he really enjoyed his. Guess I should have gotten a burger instead. Overall, I probably won't come back here. They do have good daily/weekly specials, and they apparently have bands who play here on certain weekends, but nothing about my experience for dinner made me feel the need to run back here anytime soon. read more

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a pint and lunch. It was our first visit to Dunkley's. Overall we are very satisfied with the food and felt very welcomed by bartender Suhei. I had the Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich and it was delicious. My dining partner had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and loved it. Both sandwiches came with a mound of fries. I particularly appreciate Suhei's ability to pour a "proper" pint of Guiness (20oz). She was patient and poured it the way Guiness is meant to be poured; with patience. Too many taverns that have draft Guiness do an awful job dispensing a pint. Suhei knows her stuff! For 3 pints and two sandwiches, the bill was just shy of $55. I think that's good value for what we had. We will definitely be back! read more

This was our 2nd time here. Last year we came here for St Patrick's Day dinner and again this year! I checked their online menu they were serving food related for lent for those practicing Catholic no beef/meat on Fridays. I called them and they did service Irish pub dishes! I ordered their corned beef meal that came with two sliced potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Vegetables were a bit over cooked but I did enjoy how soft and juicy the corned beef slices were. The carrots and cabbage were naturally sweet. Comfort food indeed, I would get this again! Bubba got the Ruben sandwich with fresh cut fries. The Ruben was well stacked with corned beef slices sauerkraut and thousand island. The Rye bread was nice and soft. It also came with slices of pickles. He would get this again. The wait staff was nice she actually remember us last year lol! The place is cute not too big when you enter the long bar is right there and they have a bunch of high table top w/chairs and regular tables. Flat screen TVs across the bar and the wall. The live band was at the back near the fireplace. They also have a well lit outdoor patio with fire pits. It a cute local bar I would come back here again as I see some tasty burgers on the menu! 2022- We were looking for a place to go for St. Patrick's Day and this came up on my Yelp feed! So blarney let's go! It's a long a strip mall in Edison not too far from where we live. They had plenty of parking. They also have outdoor dining as well as indoor dining. They have regular tables and table tops and a long bar where you can sit as well. It look like they also have outdoor seating and a fireplace with heating lamps as well. We got seated at a high top table and there was also have live music a guy and girl singing and playing the guitar. We tried their signature drinks were good. Their potato soup was thick and hearty. First time at Dunkley's Tavern. The inside is really nice, clean, modern, big fireplace, lots of tabs and bar area to eat in. Bathroom was modern and clean. I was expecting standard bar food. However, I was pleasantly surprised because the food was fresh and delicious! The chicken was really good quality. Nice cold beers too! The staff were super nice as well. Four of us had lunch here today. Two had the chop salad. One had the pulled pork sandwich, and I had the Dunkley burger. We shared a margherita flatbread as an appetizer. All of the food was good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The fries served with the sandwiches were also good. This is good place to duck into for lunch or perhaps to enjoy happy hour with a meal. Service was prompt, helpful, and pleasant. We would happily go here again if in the neighborhood. read more

Pleasantly surprised with the new local bar addition to the Addison area. For those familiar with the Italian bakery on lake street, this place is right next door in the same strip mall. The inside has a long bar with plenty of seating, as well as tables throughout the place. It's not huge, but I think that what makes it feel much warmer. The decor is very contemporary with a nice rustic feel to it. The fireplace in the back of the restaurant is a nice touch. There is a back room where they have slot machines and they are nicely positioned to not be right in your eyesight the entire night. The place has a good selection of draft beers. I believe there were around 20. But then a very good selection of mixed drinks and bottled beer. I started off with an old fashioned and was pleasantly surprised to watch the bartender take his time with the drink. They used a single large ice cube which just makes a huge difference to not water down the drink. But on top of that I watched him blowtorch the orange rind he was putting into my drink, as well as placing a premium luxardo cherry into the drink. It was an very well made drink. Happy hour is the time to get into here. All the appetizers are half off till 6pm, minus the prosciutto flatbread. Plus they have some drink specials to match. We started off with a couple orders of their wings, because who doesn't like trying a new place for wings. The buffalo sauce and sweet chili lime were both very good. Wings were just a tad overcooked, but the sauces and flavor made up for it. Nice accompaniment of ranch with your traditional celery and carrot sticks. Sometimes you wonder if places skimp on the happy hour plating, and this place most definitely didn't. We finished off our happy hour appetizer fest with the margarita flatbread. This was served on a cracker like crust that was just excellent. Fresh flavors and ingredients on this low calorie pizza option that makes you want to just keep eating it. All in all, I'll be back here to try a couple other things on the menu and grab a drink. It's not a huge menu at all, and I'm hoping they add additional items and refresh the menu on a continual basis. Otherwise I can see after a few visits eating through this menu and getting bored with it. Definitely a good local place for happy hour though. And check their website because they have specials throughout the week. One of them being 60 cent wings. read more

We've been here before and had a great experience but I don't think we'll ever go back. We recently walked in and it was empty which is never the case. The waitress was very nice but I asked for a root beer and I don't think she knew that was a soda. The Sprite I ended up with was flat. My bf asked for a beer from the list and she also didn't know what that was. She explained she was new but she should probably familiarize herself with what they offer. Food was terrible! Mac and cheese bites were burnt and dry. My shrimp wrap was super tiny and greasy. My bf had the honey chicken and it was a joke for the price. I don't have anything positive to say about our dinner. Dunkley's is the best! I have friends in a band who play there often, and Dunkley's is the only place that I'll see them at whenever I'm visiting from San Francisco. The staff is super friendly. Tony always joins the band to entertain us with Beatles tunes and packs the dance floor. Mary takes good care of everyone also. One of the bandmembers celebrated a milestone birthday a few weeks ago, and I wanted to surprise him by having ballons brought in. Mary kindly recommended a place to order balloons that was conveniently located next door, and was nice enough to keep the balloons in the bar afterwards since the band member had no room in his car to take them home. The server always remembers my favorite drink order even though I'm only there 2 or 3 times a year. The food is delicious. Can't say enough good things about this place. I wish I lived in the Chicago for many reasons, and Dunkley's is definitely one of my top 5 favorite places to visit whenever I'm in the area. It's the "Cheers" of Addison! read more
