YUUUUM. sometimes we forget the simple pleasure of ice cream. that could be because it's become quite overpriced now, but it's always good to be able to go in and get a scoop of your favorite flavors. gold mine is my favorite. vanilla, chocolate ice cream and caramel swirls. they offer more than a dozen different flavors as well as donuts and coffee options. cute little area to sit and eat with company.

Cafe Racer is clearly a breakfast institution in Athens, especially among University of Georgia…read morestudents. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious this place has built a loyal following. The setup is simple: place your order, grab a seat, and enjoy. What made me laugh was that many of the "tables" are surrounded by lawn chairs. It's not what I expected, but somehow it fits the laid-back personality of the place perfectly. There are a few traditional tables available, but the lawn-chair seating adds to the charm. I ordered the "My Pleasure" biscuit, which comes with fried chicken, egg, and cheese. The chicken was flavorful, and the sandwich was very tasty overall. The chicken was a little dry when combined with the biscuit, but not enough to keep me from enjoying it. It was still a satisfying breakfast and easy to see why it's a popular menu item. If you're looking for a quick, casual, and uniquely Athens breakfast experience, Cafe Racer is worth a stop. Good food, reasonable prices, and enough personality to make the meal memorable.

It was good, mostly for the tangy avocado sauce upon it. Second, the tater taco, it was just too much potato and not much else. Ratio was off. Third, and I saved best for last: Pickleback. OMG. YALL. This crazy taco was insanely good. It was "mustard sausage" with a "breakfast sauce" and some dill pickles. When I say it was good... wuh. I'm a foodie, and I was blown away. So tangy, juicy and FULL of flavor. Perfect blend of fatty sausage, mustard, sweet sauce and tangy pickles. I can't say enough about it. They really hit it outta the park. The coffee was good. We will be back, if only for that savage lil taco. Yes, service was polite and efficient. Despite a double line of cars that would make Chik-fil-A jealous. We went to the window and they had old timey style beach chairs. Wife and daughter didn't want to eat there, so back to the Air-B-n-B.

After taking my first bite my initial thought was 'I will never order this again". I got the pork…read morebelly rice bowl and I absolutely and fully regret eating it. I feel gross and it was such a let down. If y'all know me, you know I'm big on being greeted within the first few seconds of walking into an establishment. The gal didn't say anything to me, just stood at the register waiting for me to order. I asked her what she would recommended between the pork belly bowl or the curry chicken noodle soup and she just said it just depends on if I wanted noodles or rice.. that should Have been my first clue. I hate leaving bad reviews... but this is not my first visit here. The first time I ordered the dumplings with chili sauce, and the older lady was super sweet and it was super delicious. My only qualms were how FILTHY the trash can was and how empty the place was... I was the only customer. It was the same this go around too... no customers, and the trash can was STILL FILTHY!! (And I know they're not busy enough to not get up off their butts and clean!!!) I digress.... The reason I feel grossed out is because the fried egg was barely fried, and there was no seasoning or pizazz to it at all... just a sunny side up on rice and pork belly. The pork belly itself was not fresh. It must have been cooked either earlier in the day or a few days before. I know this because of how the fat in the pork belly tasted. It wasn't cooked well either... there was no crisp to the top part whatsoever and the fatty part.... Well that was the grossest part. It was that gummy slimy texture and that is anything but pleasant. I'm really hoping this place turns itself around.. because I do dig the vibe, but they need to get un lazy and start caring a little more. And I'm not seeing their vision... are they a donut shop.... Hot dog shop... or Asian food...??? I think they would attract more business with a more definitive theme. Like I said, I hate leaving poor reviews, but I'm doing so in hopes they see it. (Oh ya, because calling with a critique is out of the question.... They don't answer their phone!! Tried calling to put in my order). Come Mochinut, do better!!! PLEASE!!!

Indonesian fare is definitely not what I was thinking about today, but after living in Atlanta and…read moreknowing there are a lot of culinary choices, I decided to run by after seeing a new addition on the Mochinut Athens Menu -- they have Indonesian curry chicken on the menu, along with the Indonesian version of hainanese soy-sauce chicken! I was not disappointed except that Chef V said she had to stop doing the Indonese chicken (look it up) and make everything white meat for the locals in Athens. I hope that changes. The soy ginger sauce was excellent. The curry chicken is a definite try for those who would like to sample something different and hot and tasty! In short: Try the spicy dumplings, the curry chicken and the soy sauce chicken dishes here and maybe have a nice pandam mochi donut at the end!

Joy Donuts near Suwanee, GA…read more The cutest hidden gem donut shop and they make their donuts fresh from scratch every day! Is a small family owned business too, they don't speak English very well but super nice and sweet ! They open around 5:30-6:00 AM, and many of their most popular items sell out fast. If you're planning to visit, definitely go early! My favorites: Cronut (MUST ORDER ) My absolute favorite item here. It has the flaky, airy layers of a croissant with the soft texture of a donut. Buttery, light, and not overly sweet. If you're only getting one thing, make it this! Spinach Danish (Recommend ) A buttery, flaky pastry filled with a creamy spinach filling. Savory, flavorful, and freshly baked daily. Jalapeño Pig in a Blanket The jalapeño version was my favorite. Soft, buttery bread wrapped around a juicy sausage with just the right amount of heat. Cinnamon Rolls One of their most popular bakery items. Soft, fluffy, and loaded with cinnamon flavor. Custom Donuts They also make adorable custom donuts for birthdays, baby showers, graduations, and special events. Be sure to check out their wall of custom designs
