On a recent trip from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, I found myself stopping at the Sideling Hill Service Plaza. Since it was in the morning time, we decided to grab a few things from this Dunkin' that is located within the building.
This is a 24-Hour Dunkin' located in the Sideline Hill Service Plaza/Rest Stop along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Specifically, it is in Waterfall, PA, which is a short ways west of Breezewood. Due to this being a toll road, I doubt there are many patrons of this store not specifically traveling along the Turnpike. However, the rest stop has plenty of parking, and there is signage along both the highway and the building indicating there is a Dunkin' at this particular plaza.
Once inside the building, you will find a lot of seating options in the center of the room, right near the restaurant. The Dunkin' is located next to the 7/11 Convenience Store, and is attached to the Baskin Robbins. There are several kiosks from which you can order, or there is a traditional counter with employees to order from as well. This location also has Mobile Ordering enabled, so you can place your order before you stop and potentially avoid a wait. There is no drive-thru though, so you will have to go in.
For what I saw, this is a full service Dunkin'. They had food, coffee, donuts, and merchandise that you would find at any other typical location. As stated, they are attached to Baskin Robbins, so you can also order any of their menu items at the same time.
On my stop here, I did not order ahead. However, I wanted to place my order using my Dunkin' Rewards account to earn points, so I attempted to order on the kiosk. I was having a difficult time getting my account to load on the kiosk, and I spent several minutes trying to figure it out. Unfortunately, I was never able to get this to work correctly. So, I opted to just place my order at the counter. This probably cost me a few minutes in wait time both to place the order and then for my items to be prepared. I do not necessarily blame this location for this issue, but it was disappointing not being able to use this kiosk when trying to pay with the Dunkin' card on my app.
From the time I started trying to order until when I received my items, it was about 15 or so minutes. The overall service here was satisfactory. The employees were friendly, and I did not have to wait an incredibly long time, even considering there was a good crowd of people there during my visit.
The food I ordered, overall, was good. I personally had a Medium Iced Coffee with Mocha Swirl, as well as a Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Plain Bagel. Both were prepared as I would expect from Dunkin, and satisfied me for breakfast. My dad ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Plain Bagel, and also liked his sandwich.
Given that this Dunkin' is on the closed-loop of the Turnpike, it is naturally more expensive than one in your neighborhood. For two sandwiches and a medium iced coffee, it was $17.25. Particularly, the coffee is much more expensive here. I would typically pay less for a large at a normal store than I did for a medium here. However, this is to be expected since it is located on the Turnpike.
Overall, my experience at this Dunkin' location was good. They have the variety you would expect out of an Dunkin', the service was adequate, and my food and coffee tasted good. It is going to be more expensive to stop here, so if you know you want Dunkin' before entering the Turnpike, that might be your best bet. However, if you find yourself here during your travels I would recommend giving it a try. read more
