How can it be that I've never reviewed Green Mountain Orchards on Yelp?…read moreThis is the best place for pick-your-own. Beautiful fruit, beautifully maintained property. Well organized, easy to get in/out, minimal need for walking, and very little mud on one's feet. We pick blueberries each summer, multiple times per season. We have picked peaches in summer 1-2 times, and have picked apples in the fall a few times. Each time it's a great experience. The apple picking gets crowded, but never crazy. We've never had an experience where we were sent to pick in a section that had been picked over and had little fruit. Each time it's a great experience, both for adults and children. Well organized traffic, parking, checkout, bags/buckets. I can't recall a time I felt like things were crazy or disorganized. Prices are fair. The big bonus of course are the treats that they bake up: apple cider doughnuts, pastries, everything I've ever had has been amazing. Makes me want to move in and work there, it's just so wonderful. Highest recommendation!

I was 40 feet from the door, and the smell wafting toward me was fabulous. Inside, there were several bakers preparing muffins and other goodies (for the next day?). The woman approved. Quick digression - very clean bathroom, w an interesting painted sink (see pix)....and an old Remington typewriter. The lemon bar was amazing. My lips were so puckered the rest of my 50+ mile ride home, I was fantasizing about my good friend, also named Lucy, and what I could do with those puckered lips. Had the croissant later that evening. One of the best I've ever tasted. Definitely worth a visit.

The new owners have cleaned and reorganized the store while maintaining the original country charm. There is patio seating outside (no room for seating inside). The store carries a nice variety of local produce, meat, cheese, syrup and other goods along with necessitates. Prices are on the high side, as you may expect from a specialty store in a resort area. The new owners are super friendly and helpful. First, we selected two of their house made apple cider donuts with sugar. The donuts were divine, soft cake with lots of cinnamon, sugar and apple flavor. I would stop by every day for those donuts if I lived here. We ordered the soup of the day, homemade French Onion The soup was hot with lots of melted cheese and tasty croutons. The soup was a tad too sweet, but good otherwise. My cousin ordered the egg salads sandwich, which is enormous and delicious. The sandwich is served on a long piece of French bread ladened with egg salad. Highly recommend the egg salad. I had the Chopped Italian Grinder, which also came out on a long piece of French Bread. There was a lot of bread for the amount of meat/cheese on the sandwich. The grinder was ok. This cookie shop in Keene is very cute, with adorable decor & inviting looking cookies in the case…read more We eagerly filled a small box with a selection of beautiful cookies ($20 with added tip) and tried them as soon as we walked out. It was immediately obvious that the chocolate chip & snickerdoodle cookies were not fresh. They tasted & felt at least 2 days old. Perhaps it was our mistake for not asking when these were baked before choosing them. The iced shortbread & linzer cookies were good. The raspberry jam between the linzer's shortbread cookies was generous, making it messy to eat - but yummy. The puffy iced lemon cookie itself had a nice soft texture, but the icing on it was aggressively Sprite tasting, & overpowered the cookie. Still we enjoyed the soft cookie part naked. I love a jammy thumbprint cookie, because the cookie is soft & the jam is baked into the center to reduce it to slightly chewy. The 2 we picked here had blobs of jam placed in the center after baking, & the cookie part was almost crunchy, so every bite left crumb & jam blobs dripping on your hands. We got none of the chewy jammy centers or soft cookie parts that make thumbprints so good. I'm giving 3 stars overall because service was very warm & friendly, and the shop is very inviting. Perhaps the best cookies to get here are the shortbreads as they are very cute & seem to hold up well. Or any of the cookies we tried, that appeal to you in the ways they did not appeal to us.
