The place is a walk up window with a very small patio, and it seems like back in the day, it used to be a place that you could walk inside. As for staff, there was one singular man making everyone's coffees and also bagging up coffee beans. Hats off to that guy (the owner? unsure). Really glad we stopped here, and I highly recommend making the stop if the line isn't too long.

The croissant was a bit different from a traditional croissant but it was still fluffy, flaky and delicious. Croissant paired perfectly with my latte. Service was great. There was a young lady working by herself and she was friendly. I sat in the coffee shop for an hour enjoying my coffee. Lots of tables to sit and enjoy your coffee too. Would definitely return to this coffee shop.

Very friendly and easy to chat with. A local fund raiser raffle was going on in the back of the shop and a Jazz group is scheduled to perform later in the day. Artwork on the walls by a local photographer is for sale. A price list is on the sofa table if interested. A display at the end of the counter offers locally made cards for sale. Comfy sofa and arm chairs fill the front of the shop by the picture windows. Tables and seats the back area and potted plants are scattered throughout. Coffee is sourced from Dean's Beans, an organic coffee roaster, employee owned company in Orange, MA. This is the kind of coffee shop we would absolutely make our go-to coffee shop if we lived nearby. Highly recommend.

Aside from the chalk board drink menu, there is a TV in the corner that displays ways to customize your drinks by making them a "campfire" drink or a "nutty Vermonter" drink, etc. Ofc there is also a station to add milk, sugar, etc on your own too. The majority of our group was ordering drinks inside but some stayed outside but the cozy firepit to warm up which was just perfect! I returned the next day on a mission for a yummy pick me up before our drive home and ordered a Nutty Vermonter Matcha Latte. The "nutty vermonter" add on includes pistachio and maple syrup. I balked a bit that the price tag was over $10 (before tip) but in a happy accident, the barista got my drink wrong (gave me a Nutty Vermonter latte sans matcha), so after she remade mine, she asked if I wanted the other one too. It worked out that I got a creamy, delicious drink (exactly what I wanted) and our driver taking us back home got a sweet pistachio latte too. 10/10 from both him and me!

We had a beautifully scenic ride here. Once we arrived we found parking to be easy since it's summer and not the busy season of the area. Then once we walked up a flight of stairs we found the coffee shop and all the stores and other restaurants nearby too. Despite the name Upper Standard Coffee don't be fooled they looked as though they do a whole lot more than that. They had a case of some baked goods, waffle breakfast sandwiches and also advertised both ice cream and pizzas. Also besides coffee they had lotus energy drinks and I saw mentions of espresso martinis and other alcoholic beverages. Truly lots of options. The space inside is quite small so if it gets busy I assume the line would be outside quite quickly. They did have some chairs outside to enjoy the summer weather with your food or drink of choice. My wife and I both wanted to try one of their flavored coffee/latte drinks. Some of them being Campfire (s'mores), White Mountain (white mocha and lavender), Lavender Matcha. All of the options plus more sounded tempting. We did settle on White Mountain for my wife while I chose the French Toast. Both have tons of flavor and if this were local to us we would be here often! If you find yourself at Stratton Mountain Village and want coffee or a bite to eat go here!

The smoked salmon on sourdough bagel with cream cheese was surprisingly good. The egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich on sourdough bagel was probably my favorite, with a good balance of carb and protein. The bagels are evidently made local. They had some savory scones I didn't get to before leaving town (next time!). Nanka, the owner, was so very nice. She knew each customer by name, and was a delight to interact with. Other friends in town had avoided the place because of the cats, but when I explained that the cats are accessed through a different door, across the way, and not walking around on the prep counters, she too discovered how great the place is. There is a minimum spend to get free access to the cats, or a small fee if you just want to go love on kitties. The green iced tea was so good, I had it every morning, and since I liked the owner so much, I bought a few pay-it-forward drinks for people in need, which, I also learned, is matched by the cafe ownership.
