This was a perfect place to have lunch after a long drive up from MA, and others clearly had the…read moresame idea because the bakery was packed. The line can get pretty long so be prepared to wait ~15 minutes to order if you arrive at a busy time. Everything is prepared in advance though so you don't need to wait for anything after ordering. The parking lot is small though so you might have to park in another lot ~5 minutes away (the same lot everyone parks in before walking around the town). We had the salami & smoked cheddar sandwich, forest croissant, Black Forest donut, apple cider crumb donut, and the brisket, gruyere & creamy horseradish focaccia. We were afraid the sandwich might be a bit heavy, but it wasn't too bad. The pickled onions add some moisture though so I would eat it right away instead of saving for later. The donuts were cake donuts so on the heavier side, but they tasted delicious. The brisket focaccia was also wonderful and the horseradish adds a lot of flavor. The forest croissant was a little bit of a disappointment because there weren't as many mushrooms in the pastry as we would have liked, but not a big deal. We also grabbed a maple soda and an orange cream soda. Despite being so busy there's plenty of seating upstairs and some outside so we had no issues finding a place to eat.

Lots of options available but we kept it pretty basic with a maple + pumpkin creamee. The ingredients are high quality and it almost has a cheesy flavor. To be honest, the cheesiness wasn't my favorite and I prefer regular ice cream, but this is an iconic dessert that you have to try at least once on any VT trip.

I have visited this cafe over the last few months and have loved trying their new items they always seem to have. My boyfriend regularly enjoys the breakfast burrito and we have a pastry and apple butter to try soon as well! We always felt welcome there, as it is great place to sit and relax. I also love that they host weekly events, the owners seem very involved in the quality of what they sell and the environment they do it in.. Ps: I also just tried the asparagus soup and nettle crisps, and I will be thinking about how good it was later... wish I got a bigger bowl! Thanks Jason and Janice

Unfortunately we had a TERRIBLE experience this week with A Dozen Eggs…read more I had ordered some cookies from them in October and they did a bang up job, so I figured I had found my new go-to gift place. Yay!! WRONG. I ordered cookies as a special Christmas gift in OCTOBER, and they were unable to fulfill it because the owner, Dave, never told me a definitive date he needed the shipping address by. He even sent me an email to apologize for the way he handled it - 2 days and 2 unreturned phone calls later. But obviously an apology means nothing when my friend's 4 young children are waiting for their special 'Christmas surprise' from Auntie Kim that I told them about - repeatedly! - that they're now not going to get. :( Shameful. Good looking cookies, but with this kind of 'customer service' and unreliability, I would *NEVER* even consider ordering from here again. Certainly for the inflated prices I'd expect so much better.... ***************************************************************************************** UPDATED 12/26/13 - SO - surprise! My friend received her cookies after all. I am assuming the owner saw this review and decided to pull thru - I have no idea, as the last I heard was that it was not happening, and I never received a message indicating otherwise (minor inconvenience as a gift message was therefore not included I don't think, and I actually was going to ship them to her sister's house but never let her sister know as I didn't think it was happening, etc. More of a major inconvenience in that we never finalized the order, and they sent a 'Texan' theme with Dallas Cowboys helmets - when they are moving to Houston [Oilers], which I had already mentioned. ANNOYING.). In any case - was pleased they wound up delivered but wish I was told about it and that it happened without me having to post a negative online review ... The cookies are GORGEOUS looking - so I am dying to use them again, but I'll have to think about it. As a result of this development I changed the review from 1 to 3 stars - (and as I said, when I used them in October it was a great experience and I would give them 4 or 5 stars for that order).
