This was a very disappointing experience. We waited roughly 25 minutes while others who came after us receive their order. Then when they realized they forgot our order they got the order wrong not once but twice! What was the order that was so difficult? 6 donuts. Giving 1 star because it's not possible to have 0 stars. The worst service ever! Go through the drive thru & order 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches at 7:30 am on a Saturday 5/10 morning. There is no one in line before us mind you...the clerk takes our money and ask us to pull to the front & he will bring the order out ok fine. 15 mins go by and no food so we go back thru the empty drive thru and have to wait another 5 or so minutes for someone to show up to the window and he says "oh let me make it for you now" excuse me but what have you been doing this whole time?!? RUN away from this place. Me and my mom were so excited to try this place for the first time while visiting in Destin, FL. We came in early for some quick breakfast. The restaurant line was very long and the service was so so so slow. We spent 20 minutes in line to then wait another 20 for our one small coffee. We finally got up to the counter to meet the rudest cashier ever. Any question we had, she shrugged her shoulders. We ordered a 6 count donuts, and my mom was picking the flavors and lost count of how many she was at, so she asked how many is that so far? The cashier had the most blah face and just tilted the box towards us because saying "5 ma'am" was such a big deal. When we finally were handed our box of dry, cold, donuts that have been sitting on the shelf over night, my mom asked if we could have the donuts heated up, the girl didn't say a word and just nodded her head implying no. At this point we are just astonished and truly regretting stopping at the most ran down Dunkin' ever for our first experience, but it gets worse. After 20 minutes of waiting in a line of only 3 people ahead of us, we are finally checking out (this is another 10 minute process). Then, the worse part of the experience happens. The lady behind us in line, walks about 2 inches away from our faces and says "excuse me, are you gonna pay for that chocolate milk you started drinking??" I was confused that this lady was screaming, but my mom was apologetic saying she forgot it in the beginning of the line on the counter (due to the TWENTY minute wait). She went grab it and handed it to the lady. The cashier looked like she could care less about this job or that chocolate milk. This lady did not give it a rest at that. She continued to speak to us crazy from behind us even after she walked out of our faces. At this point, me and my mom are livid. She grabbed the chocolate milk, paid for it, and all was done, but this women was just absolutely rude and out of place. At one point, I asked her "do you work here? Are you a cop?" This lady clearly is going to go home and lose sleep about this chocolate milk that was going to be forgotten on the table, NOT TAKEN with us for free. She taunted us until the second she walked out like she felt she did a good thing, bullying people today. Anyway, once we were ready to pay, the cashier told us the price at almost a whisper. Me in my early twenties could not hear her, much less my mom in her late fifties! Then each time we said "sorry can you repeat that I can't hear you" she seemed to get even more agitated and yet somehow LOWER. They had 4 girls working on making the coffees, which was more than the amount of people in the shop at this point. They looked like they were doing a whole lot of nothing, like they were pretending to have their hands busy to not be called on to make the next coffee. At this point, I went sit down in the seating area to start on my YELP review INSTANTLY because I was just shocked at this service and this by stander lady who decided it was her job to prosecute today. Meanwhile, my mom is standing up, waiting for her coffee. 5 minutes in, my mom finally sees one of the 4 girls at the coffee station, working on her coffee. She asks her to add creamer to the coffee & the lady says "I know" so rudely. After all of this, we get in the car and we are just speechless trying to explain what happened in there to my dad. Lastly, we realized that the extra chocolate glazed donut we paid EXTRA for, was not given to us. Overall, this has been the worse experience I have ever had with a fast food industry literally ever, and that is saying something in itself. If you enjoy standing around forever and want your order consistently wrong every morning, go here! I would like to start with normally I LOVE DD!!! However this location is horrible! Workers are loud, cussing, stand around and have conversations with each other while people are waiting! The store is NOT CLEAN, the front windows and door is disgusting. I visited this store around 10:00 am and the donuts where old and hard, when I asked if they were from the previous day and she replied no they were made today her response was not sure what you're saying but these are not from yesterday! After speaking to the manager the manager asked me which donut it was and I told her and she said ohhhhhh. Every customer that comes in they start talking to each other about their tips and start counting them and customers are standing right in front of them! I believe this nature has absolutely lost control of the store, I just watched a family five coming in order and it takes over 20 minutes for them to fill the order. Now mind you they're not cooking steaks they're not doing big meals everything is already premade or completely made and they just have to put the order together! Before you read any further, you should know that I am from Texas and Shipley's in the absolute king of all donut shops. Sorry DD or KK but it's simply the truth. With that, we are staying in the Hampton Inn across the parking lot from DD so we decided to stop in for a quick bite. This decision was primarily made for two reasons: 1- My wife thinks DD coffee is some of the best, and 2- the inedible free breakfast served by the Hampton Inn (we'll save that for another review). So, I had the typical breakfast eaten by overweight people (I am one so I can say that), two glazed donuts and large coffee. I have one simply wish for my glazed donuts and that is I would like them served warm or hot. It seems that DD never does that. I warm/hot donut would increase this review by at least one star. The coffee on the other had was so hot I couldn't drink it for 10 minutes but I'm not going to complain about that. An hour later, I'm typing this review and still sipping on the same cup of coffee and it's still hot so kudos to them for mastering the use of a styrofoam cup. I'll opening admit that this review starts with a severe bias because as mentioned above, nobody but nobody can compete with Shipley's. I am doing my best to let this review stand on it's on and not be affected by my opinion going into this. I will say that this location was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. My wife tried to sneak a Houston Only coupon in for a free donut but got slapped down when the register didn't accept the barcode. I told her up front it probably wouldn't work and it didn't. The lack of using the coupon has no weighting on this review but I'm sticking it in there just so other tourists will know that it won't work if you bring your coupon from the other 49 states or Puerto Rico. Who would come here from Puerto Rico for the beach anyway? Anyway, if you are still reading this, go have a donut and just know up front that the experience will be subpar to Shipley's but way better than the Hampton Inn.
