However, being diverse and cultured, I started trying coffee in Latin communities. I noticed they used special machines, which sparked my interest. I eventually started visiting specialty coffee shops. Most of the places I get food from don't open until 10:00 AM, but coffee shops are open much earlier. That's how I found Passenger Coffee here in Lancaster. I knew it was going to be a great spot the moment I walked in; it was clean, inviting, and smelled amazing. A friendly employee greeted me with a smile, and their pastry display looked great. I told her I was new to coffee--only about two months in--but that I was enjoying trying different kinds. I explained how I normally take my coffee and mentioned that the last time I had one, it had foam on top. She gave me a small coffee to try, as well as one with foam (a latte or cappuccino). I think that's all I want to drink from now on! I used to make fun of people who said, "Don't talk to me until I've had my first cup," but now I finally understand why. We chose this spot simply because we passed it several times during our vacation, as it sits right off Route 30. I headed inside while my family stayed in the car. From that standpoint, it felt much more like a sit down restaurant than the coffee shop I was anticipating. That said, they did have a designated area for ordering to go, which is where I headed. After looking over their winter specials, I tried to order something with peppermint for my wife. Unfortunately, they were out of peppermint syrup, which was also what I would have ordered for myself. I ended up getting my wife an iced mocha while I went with a hot coconut latte. My coffee ended up being decent. The coconut syrup was easy to taste, but it did not overpower the coffee itself. My wife's drink looked good with whipped cream and crushed peppermint on top, as they still had that available, but she was unable to drink it due to a stomach bug. The bottom line for me is that I might head back here again in the future. While I do not know that I would go out of my way just for coffee, it seemed like a nice place for a sit down meal.
