Always a good experience. Staff and management have the business down pat. I have never waited more than 5 min for what I needed.

Pennyrose Coffee

Pennyrose Coffee

This was a very pleasant experience. My top-tier chum and I stopped by this past Sunday afternoon…read morefor a little pick-me-up and a palate cleanser after a mediocre lunch down the street. I was a little startled when I walked in; it almost felt like a warehouse or something - there is a TON of empty, unutilized space in Pennyrose and despite music playing in the background, it's almost too quiet. There's a few upholstered pink chairs throughout the establishment, but mostly it's just square footage to roam around in. Not much of a ding if at all, but they definitely could use a little more furniture in here to make it more comfortable. Easy problem to fix - just hit up a few estate sales and you're golden. My chum (this is what chums are for) noticed that they had rose flavoring, which is my absolute favorite; why lavender is getting so much traction in the floral genre is beyond me. I ordered a rose latte with skim, and it was very tasty. The barista told me because it was a hot latte that it had to be a size large (not clear why) but perfectly fine by me on a nippy, overcast November afternoon straight out of Folklore. Perfect amount of rose without being overwhelming and really hit the spot. I also grabbed an intriguing looking blueberry lemon iced scone. Also really good though one corner of the scone had too many blueberries so I avoided that, but that's a total palate preference on my end. Would absolutely gnaw on that again. The service was excellent. Beyond receiving pretty much a dictionary definition perfect latte, the barista just let us hang out by the front window for a few hours people watching. Coffee houses SHOULD be communal spaces to just chill out in for a while, so if it had been an issue that's end game for me, but we both felt very welcomed and easily could have lingered for a while more but SOMEone (cough cough chum cough cough) needed to buy soy candles in Lafayette or something. So it goes. Just a little more interior decorating, and I think you really have something here.

I was excited to try a new coffee place but this was not up to my standards…read more The initial vibe is cute with some couches and comfy chairs but it feels empty and without character. The French Toast latte was yummy even though they ran out of whipped cream. The carrot cake scone was pretty good, but they are refrigerated, so maybe ask for it to be heated up a bit to take the chill out. Hubby said the cappuccino was ok. I think what troubled me was the employee's indifference to our being there. We wiped down our own table because they all needed a cleaning. Then they said they needed to replace the napkins, they did but couldn't be bothered with bring us a couple. They were carrying in stock items and my husband held the door for them but they were like don't worry about it. We can just push the door ourselves.

Cafe Serendipity - Fat Pat breakfast sandwich--life-changing!

Cafe Serendipity is conveniently located near Lowes in Newton, where there is a dearth of food…read moreoptions outside McDonalds and Burger King. It's a clean, open space with a decent amount of seating. The temperature is usually on the colder side, and I wouldn't say it is overly cozy. I've ordered here with some frequency over the last few years, usually when I am out running errands. I'd say the food quality is mediocre, and the prices have ballooned to levels I would say are prohibitive to the average consumer based on the amount of food you're getting. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap with mozzarella, balsamic, roasted red peppers, etc. the other day and was surprised that it was $17. For a smallish wrap, it's really too costly. The cafe throws in a bag of chips, but I've never asked for one. You can get a very similar (larger) sandwich at A&G Pizza in Branchville for $4 less. I'm not sure why the consumer would want to pay 30% more for less quality, outside of the fact that there are no other cafes or delis in the immediate area. The Hampton Diner, which is notorious for being expensive (but good quality) has a similar wrap called the California which is also somewhat expensive at $15, so I'd guess that's what Serendipity is basing its prices on. I realize all food prices are inflated right now, but Serendipity should be charging $12 max for its wraps, and based on the size, they're not far off what you're getting from Quick Check at half the price. At the cafeteria near my job, it's $8 for a wrap. I'll still check in from time to time at this cafe, but the prices are pushing me away.

It was such a beautiful night, my parents and I came and we each got our own pizza. Pizza came out in maybe 15 minutes, we sat and waited and just chilled. It was a beautiful night. I am so appreciative that Windy Brow has a vegan cheese option, so I could be included! I got the Margherita pizza and subbed vegan cheese. The crust and dough were incredible - so fluffy, perfectly crispy, amazing thick crust. The vegan cheese was also great, and the sauce too. Just a perfect pizza. My dad got a regular Margherita and loved it, and my mom got the fungi pizza with mushrooms and was raving about it. My boyfriend got the pig and fig and (of course) loved it as well. We all raved to each other about how amazing everything was. For a farm to do something like this when they don't need to, shows that they love what they do! You can really feel the love in the pizza. We then got ice cream after since the ice cream stand was still open. I got the vegan dark chocolate sea salt (literally incredible, perfect consistency, I love hard ice cream so this was amazing), my boyfriend got Madagascar vanilla and said it was a perfect classic vanilla, my dad said the cherry vanilla was the best he's ever had, and my mom who doesn't love ice cream got the lemon blueberry butter cake and was raving about it. Phenomenal job!!!!! So appreciative to live near a spot like this. Blessings!

Welcoming lobby with tea themed gifts to purchase set the tone for your awaited tea service. Staff is family friendly and so attentive making sure your coats are hung and your comfort is addressed. We enjoyed a mid morning seating on a cozy winter Saturday. The tea room, a converted front parlor room of the house is decorated with charming English nods to the queen and tea. About a half dozen tables are set with crisp linen and china. Menu is simple and straight forward. I highly recommend the Tea for Two, or the deluxe version of this if you're really hungry! Tea offerings are plentiful and loose tea brewed. Very authentic! We each got a different flavor of tea under the advice of our wonderful server Dana! Because tea pots are bottomless we were able to sample and share a variety! Highly recommend their Windsor blend as well as the peppermint teas. Soup and quiche of the day were delicious to say the least. Warm creamy tomato bisque and fluffy broccoli cheese quiche started us off. Followed in a timely but not rushed second course of a three tiered tea plate filled with perfectly executed sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and dainty bite size sweet treats. Crustless, finger sandwiches were filled with creations like the Queen's coronation chicken salad, egg salad, and apple cheddar salad, strawberry cream cheese and cucumber slices. Heavenly! Fresh baked scones were light and fluffy inside and buttery and lightly crisp on the outside. Dainty sweet treats included butterscotch mousse, salted caramel macrons, butterfly tea cakes and caramel chocolate shortbread. Portions are plentiful but not overwhelming. We each took a small box of a few bites that weren't able to be finished. Overall we can't say enough good things about this lovely hidden gem right on Rt 15. It was worth the hour drive and every penny spent. We're looking forward to coming back and enjoying this tea house and their lovely staff many more times in the future.

The tea was good too although I couldn't finish mine since there was so much of it lol. Maybe they can think about having to go cups? Or if they do offer them at the end of service. The scones were so good! They also have a little bakery when you first walk in which is nice. Great customer service as well.
