I felt the spirit of Halloween as I stood in the front of the counter wondering if I became a ghost, as not one person in the entire store seemed to notice that was was standing there at the counter wondering who was the person I should be speaking with. I know they understand the concept of greeting people because they said good morning to an employee who came in. But a customer is to be 100% ignored for minutes at a time. I finally asked if the counter was open and the girl responded, "yeah, I'll be with when I can". I know it's hard to find good help and I try my best to take that in consideration but acknowledging the presence of a customer is a super low bar. That doesn't go over well, especially at 7:00 in the morning. I walked out and got immediate help at the drive thru where that person was well aware of starting off with a greeting and really took it to the next level by saying thank you. A simple greeting, eye contact, even if just for a second and thanks. Pretty simple stuff but seems to be out of reach for some and that's fine, but if it outside your wheel house, maybe something that doesn't involve human interaction is where you belong. Tim Hortons can open fast enough for me.
