    Duck crepe
    Liz L.

This is just a small hut on a street but is churning out authentic handmade items. I tried the duck crepe, the fried dumplings, and Bao buns. All were great. You can stay and eat and watch the boats in the canal. The food is perfect. The line tends to be long and it moves really slowly. Worth the wait

Quick service and great food! My favorite was the mini veggie spring rolls. Would definitely recommend

In all honesty, the food was good and they got to our table quickly. The only reason I gave a 4 out…read moreof 5 was because it was uncomfortably hot in the dining room. We thought about leaving before placing our order but decided to bear it out since we were craving Sichuan. The chicken and the green beans were my favorites. It was really nice being able to taste the Sichuan peppers on the dishes. All together, great food but uncomfortable dining experience.

Their menu is impressively large and the dining room is small but inviting. Prices are quite high, but you are in a tourist area. We ordered a Kung pao chicken and a chicken fried rice to share. We both had a very weird 'chemical' taste that would occasionally occur with the Kung pao but neither of us could figure out what it was. The chicken fried rice was fine but contained very little chicken. My house white wine at 4.5 was fine as well as hubby had a Heineken. The biggest issue was the many Gnats that just descended on us once our wine arrived. If you zoom in on the picture, there were quite a few just hanging out after our plate we removed. We have been to many restaurants since we arrived here and this is the first with this issue. It got even worse once our food arrived. Very irritating. Service was just ok. We were here at a weird time because we are very jet lagged and trying to get on the time zone (needed dinner early). The staff were having their dinner so we felt a bit of a nuisance. Bill was about 50 euro.

The food was good though, and the two women working there were very nice and speak little English but just enough to communicate with us. I give this place 5 stars because of the fact that we didn't have any euro bills on us and were expecting to pay with credit card in which we later found out that they didn't accept MasterCard or Visa. The lady actually drove me to an ATM near by so that I could take euros out and pay. What an amazing woman! I felt so bad but she really amazed me with the generosity and trust that she had!

Just a heads up that the entire menu is in Dutch, so you kind of need to know what you want before you go here if you don't speak Dutch. Unlike the other reviewer, I actually found the food to be reasonably priced, and the woman who helped me spoke great English. I got the sweet and sour chicken and vegetable fried rice, and I found it to be pretty good. Not great, but good. The portion size was HUGE. I'm a pretty big eater and I only ate half of my dish. What I liked about the chicken was that it wasn't fried; it was sautéed with the sweet and sour sauce. This was a far (and welcome) cry from many American Chinese food restaurants that fry everything. In short, this place isn't worth going out of your way for, but if you're craving cheap Chinese food where everything isn't fried, this is a solid go-to.

One standout dish that truly impressed me was the Kimchi Fried Rice with Shrimp & Sweet Corn. The balance of flavors was exceptional--the tangy, spicy kick of the kimchi paired beautifully with the sweetness of the corn, while the shrimp added a perfectly tender, savory touch. Every bite was vibrant and satisfying, showcasing a creative twist on a classic comfort dish. I cannot wait for an opportunity to revisit and try their duck. It smelled and looked decadent. The ambiance is equally remarkable, blending traditional elegance with a lively, welcoming vibe. Service was attentive and friendly, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. If you're in Amsterdam and looking for a memorable meal, Sea Palace should be at the top of your list--especially for that Kimchi Fried Rice!

Strongly recommended.

If you want a great Chinese meal in Amsterdam but don't want to fight the crowds in the "Chinatown"…read morecentrum, Kam Wah is exactly where you should go. Tucked away on a quiet, charming street in the heart of the Jordaan, this place is a true neighborhood staple. For those using Yelp in Europe, this is a traditional Chinese restaurant that offers both a sit-down experience and a very popular takeout service. It's small, intimate, and feels like a well-kept local secret. The Atmosphere: It is incredibly gezellig. It's the kind of place that feels "made with love." It's unpretentious and cozy--perfect for a rainy Amsterdam evening. The Service: The highlight is the hostess (a wonderful Chinese lady) who makes everyone feel like a regular. Her warm, personal approach is what really sets this place apart from the more commercial spots in the city. The Food: While the menu is "classic/basic" in the best way, everything is delicious, fresh, and consistently good. The Location: Being in the Jordaan makes it so convenient if you live in the west or just want to avoid the busy tourist center. Pro Tip: It's a smaller space, so it fills up fast. If you're in a hurry, their takeout (afhaal) is super efficient and just as high-quality as eating in. If you're looking for a "full-service" Chinese dining experience that treats you like family, definitely give Kam Wah a visit. It's one of those spots that earns your loyalty after just one visit.
