I always drive by this restaurant and finally got a chance to try it. We ordered a bubble sherbet (ice cream shake) in coconut and taro mixed with tapioca pearls. I found it delicious, exactly what I was expecting. We also ordered beef and coriander pot stickers and the pork and cabbage pot stickers. You can get an order of 10 or 15 dumplings. The wrapper is thick and chewy which I like. The filling tasted pretty bland and the peanut sauce didn't offer much addition flavor. I really liked the cook on these dumplings but would like a more interesting dipping sauce. I'll have to try their other flavors. The restaurant itself is bright and clean. Our waitress seemed great, took our bubble tea order, brought us water and the dumplings came out fairly quickly. I would try another dish from here. Craving some dumplings and stumbled upon this place which serves bubble tea as well. It was a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty. I got the original green tea with pearls which tasted standard, not too sweet. The pearls were a bit mushy for my liking. Theres lunch combos for dumplings until 4pm. As i missed this window, i opted for 15 fried dumplings (pork/chive/shrimp) which is about $14.50. You can also get 10 dumplings for $10 (+1.50 for fried). They come with one choice of non-traditional dipping sauce (peanut, sweet chilli, spicy mayo etc). Wasn't a fan of the non-traditional sauces, but the tables have soy sauce, chili oil and vinegar which works well. The only thing missing is ponzu sauce. Tastewise the dumplings were decent. They could have used more seasoning, but they were juicy. Texture wise the dumpling wrap is thick and chewy, and could have used more sear. Overall a decent place if your'e craving dumplings. I like how they have bubble tea which I didn't try but it's nice to see a large menu. I thought the spring rolls were a bit overpriced. It was a bit expensive for lunch in my opinion but would come back for the frozen options. The staff was friendly as well though it wasn't very busy when we arrived. Went to Dumpling Bowl with my sister for the first time today, after reading reviews online. The place was pretty full when we got there, which is usually a good sign, right? We got seated and handed some menus. Asked the waiter to clarify something about the menu, and he answered in a bit of a rude tone (in my opinion, but I brushed it off, thinking I might've misinterpreted it). After looking at our choices, my sister decided to try the shrimp and pork boiled dumplings, and I decided to go for the supreme seafood ones. The waiter seemed a bit dismissive when he took our order, but whatever, I've worked in restaurants before, I figured he was just stressed because they were busy. My sister also asked for glasses of water while he took our order, which never came. We got the supreme seafood dumplings, and waited a few minutes for my sister's order. Seeing it was taking a bit more time, we started eating the ones we'd already gotten. After about 25 minutes, we figured they'd forgotten to order the second one. We were getting pretty full anyway, so didn't bother re-ordering, but it was still pretty unimpressive to see a bunch of the employees tapping away on their iPhones and texting instead of checking on their tables. Finally, about 5-10 minutes later (30 minutes after we got the first order), they brought what my sister had ordered. I understand the dumplings are made by hand, but letting the customers know there might be such a delay would've been a nice courtesy. Had I decided to wait for her to get her food instead of sharing, mine would've gotten cold by the time she got her order. Anyway. The dumplings were good. Nothing out of this world, but they were alright. After my sister had to ask for the glasses of water she'd ordered earlier (and the waiter only brought her one, instead of two, in case I might be thirsty as well), we got up to pay, and the guy at the cash was standing behind the desk texting on his phone. He was literally two feet away from us, facing us, and ignored us for a good minute while finishing his text. We had to clear our throats to get his attention and get him to do his job. Very unprofessional. Now, I'm sorry, I'm usually a super easygoing customer, as I've worked 10 years in retail and a couple of years in restauration. I'm super understanding and chill. But we both got a really underwhelming first experience at Dumpling Bowl, and will not be back. As a small business, you guys should know better and offer top notch service in order to attract/keep customers from bigger chains. I love this place. The dumplings are just like I remember them living in Beijing. All that I've had are great. I recommend the pork and cabbage boiled. If you like a little caramelization, get them fried for an extra buck and a half. I usually eat about 26 in a sitting, effectively stuffing myself. On the table are the traditional condiments: vinegar and soy sauce. They look the same, so look for labels or give them a good sniff to know what's what. They are also the old Bubblicity, and they still have bubble tea. If you've never tried it, pop and have one. I recommend the Taro green tea with pearls. This place was recently renovated. I've been to Dumpling Bowl a couple of times, and some might say dumplings are generally uneventful, but the ones here are delicious and handmade, which I have so much respect for. Chef Betty can be found in the kitchen, making the dumplings from her secret family recipe. This restaurant and Bubblicity Tea Shop are one and the same, so you can order your dumplings and bubble tea at the same time, and even better, you can do it until about 10-11 at night. Genius. After getting a couple of steamed dumplings the first time, we decided we preferred the fried ones just because of the texture and seared flavor. The steamed ones are great, of course, but I find them slightly chewier, as the wrapping is a bit thicker than some people might be used to, and frying them seems to help that mouthful-of-dumpling situation. I've tried a few different kinds, and quite honestly I can't remember exactly which ones since many of them are very similar, but they were all great. The ingredients are few and simple, if you order multiple kinds, you won't be able to tell the difference between them just by looking at them. Your server will let you know what's what, but you'll be able to tell the difference when you try them. They are a bit chewy, as I mentioned, but I think that's what I like about them - a hearty dumpling with some substance, well-made and steamed/fried just right. You can even order frozen dumplings to go, which you have to do! If you want to make them the way you had them at the restaurant, they are kind enough to provide instructions on their website. The prices seem a bit expensive at first but they're worth it, especially when there are at least two of you ordering different things and sharing. I've also tried all of the dipping sauces that come with the fried dumplings, though I don't think you'll need anything extra from what's already on the table. Along with the soy sauce and small pot of hot chili flakes in oil, there is also a small glass bottle of vinegar on every table for dipping, but it isn't your average white vinegar. It's darker and sweeter, though not salty as though it was mixed with soy sauce. It's really tasty and I had to know what it was, so I snapped a photo of the bottle in the kitchen area and it said "Chinkiang Vinegar". Apparently there are different ingredients and recipes depending on the brand, but after trying this one, I had to buy the same one. I immediately walked over to Kowloon Market to get a bottle. The ingredients are water, glutinous rice, wheat bran, salt, and sugar for anyone who's curious. I am definitely coming back here. There are other soups and appetizers here as well, if dumplings aren't your thing, or if you like to switch it up. One thing they're missing - soup dumplings! If they added these and expanded the menu just a little bit, I would absolutely give it five stars. read more

Ordered a beef soup noodle, along with 3 orders of dumplings (15 pc). Note that the dumplings, seemingly homemade, are prepared from frozen. Although the noodles came out very quickly, my dad said that they were lukewarm and too salty. The portion also looked too small to warrant the price ($9.99). The dumplings were actually okay (juicy), but the dipping sauces didn't actually taste that great with the dumplings; it seemed very discordant (peanut sauce was too watery, sweet chili was strange, spicy mayo was also strange, teriyaki was the best but still weird). The service was pretty terrible. The waiter (young, glasses, male) seemed confused and was frankly, a terrible waiter. When we asked for water, he gave us (party of 4) only 2 glasses until we asked for more cups. He also didn't seem to know about the dipping sauces until we asked. To top it off, the table was sticky, and we saw someone else use the same cloth to wipe both the chairs and the tables. Gross. read more

I have to start off by saying... the service is terrible, but wonderful at the same time. The staff seem to always be confused and have brought the wrong thing over to me many times, BUT they are the kindest people ever. Everyone who works there is always cheerful, polite, and really seem like they go out of their way to help you. They are so genuine and kind, mix ups and mishaps don't even bother me. They still get 5 stars. Okay, on to the food. I wish I could eat their dumplings every single day of my life. They have the perfect amount of stuffing, and the dumpling wrap is thick and chewy. Both the boiled and pan fried options are great. I find the fried option a bit more filling and salty. The springs rolls are also nice and crispy, and you can get a small or large plate of them so you can easily share with a larger group. The offer wonton soup, and a couple other dishes as well, which I also enjoy. If it's your first time, though I recommend the dumplings. Definitely the best tasting thing on the menu. I like that they have bubble tea, and hot tea in the winter and iced tea in the summer. A small and quiet enough place that you can go with a couple friends, or by yourself to read/study (they have wifi). A place worth visiting again and again. read more

The overall atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I ordered a green apple bubble tea with tapioca pearls. It was very sweet (maybe a little too sweet), very flavorful with chewy tapioca pearl goodness. The dumplings ordered (fried curry beef and onion & pork and chives) were the best dumplings I've ever eaten in my life. So salty, so juicy, so perfect! The sauces ordered (sweet chili and thai peanut) were good, however, I personally found it strange to be eating a peanut buttery flavored sauce on a salty dumpling. When you walk into this place you realize it is very dirty which is obviously a bad thing for a place that is serving you food. It is a good thing they leave multiple utensils on the table cause you can pick through all the dirty ones and find the "least dirty" which may reduce your chances of staph infection of oral herpes left behind by the previous diners. The service is terrible good luck getting a glass of water and on the previous visit they forgot to serve half the order then said that we had not ordered it. just left this restaurant and unfortunately not pleased. service was quick I'll give them that but we were the only ones there in the beginning. (As we left is where more customers were coming in) My friend and i ordered bubble tea with tapioca balls, same price but for some odd reason one size was bigger than the other And might be a thing but the pearls were at the top instead of the bottom as if they forgot to add them and did so last minute. Not a huge problem as it was still good. We got some fried chicken as appetizers and it was very soft and chewy(very undercooked) and the coating was sweet like cinnamon. They tried to play it off that it was supposed be like that but chicken is chicken you can tell if it's cooked or not. We then ordered 3 plates of dumplings pan fried 2 out of the 3 were okay. Just perhaps cleaning on the pans in between would be nice as you could taste the pans/burnt instead of the flavour of the dumplings that a pan is supposed to bring out. The last one .. they got our order wrong but apologized and gave us the correct one 2 minutes later... only thing it wasn't cooked all the way. Went there today around dinner time, was not super busy when we got in but picked up a bit during our visit. We were there for ~40 - 45 minutes and the service was so crazy slow that several other customers came in, sat down, waited 10 minutes to even be acknowledged and then just left without ordering. We gave our orders within 5 minutes of sitting, but the food took over half an hour for two orders of dumplings and two bubble teas. I was told they were out of tapioca pearls, only to hear them offered to subsequent customers. My boyfriend's shrimp and pork dumplings were good according to him, but my vegetarian dumplings were bland and as was the accompanying peanut sauce (tasted like just peanut butter). Best dumpling in the world! The balance between filling and dough if perfect and they are not over wet. Fried chicken is great too, almost as good as Popeyes.
