    Oyster snack
    Sam A.

Discovered this food truck at Back Bay's Farmhouse brewery. Really enjoyed some crispy fried oysters. They were a great compliment to some good beer on a nice afternoon. Pretty generous portion of oysters in their "snack" offering as well. The side of corn fritters was an unexpexted offering and they were really delicious too. I also really liked that they gave out a pager after ordering, so I didn't have to stand around the truck while my order was prepared, but could go back to hanging out with friends at the brewery. Would definitely order again if I see them at an event.

Mac and cheese, corn nuggets, bang bang shrimp
    Theresa M.

I enjoyed the Bang Bang Shrimp Meal with Mac and cheese and corn nuggets. The shrimp were fried just right, and I enjoyed the flavor. I love corn nuggets and these were tasty. The Mac and cheese was tasty, too. To me the noodles are a little too soft but that's a personal preference. I do believe it's pricy, but as a treat now and then, I would definitely get the shrimp again and have fun trying the many sides they have to offer.

I love accidentally discovering new businesses! I visited JR Street Dining on accident just…read moreswinging by Smartmouth Pilot House for some "fast food" via food truck after work. They have only been operating for a month now, this was their third brewery appearance. For appetizers they have a buffalo chicken dip and pimento cheese nacho- talk about solid brewery apps! Most of their menu items are types of wraps. Their special was chicken fajita tacos (Cinco de Mayo celebration) and for dessert they had a crispy ice cream sandwich. One unique thing that I don't see many food trucks do, is they offer kids menu items as well! Again- it is just their third day- this could all be totally different once they are more established and have tried different things. I opted to get the ice cream sandwich, because I'm a total sucker for dessert. I ate this first. Two crispy shells with a cinnamon sugar mix and if I'm not wrong it possibly a second seasoning that had a little kick to it. Maybe it was a touch of cayenne? Definitely not strong or overpowering in spice, just a little something to make it interesting. In the middle was a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The vanilla was complimented by the cinnamon and the chocolate was complimented by whatever that other ingredient was. I was definitely a fan! The more I ate the more I wanted more! I also got the chicken fajita taco special. I should point out that if I didn't go for the food truck option at Smartmouth I was headed to my favorite taco spot in VB. Maybe it was the unintentional comparison of the authentic street taco from my favorite spot, but these tacos fell a little flat for me. Not letting it really affect my review, because I did eat dessert first and then I messed around taking pictures before getting to them. It might be a "it's not you, it's me" thing with the tacos- I'll own this one. The tacos were served with a side of corn on the cob. It had a lemon cilantro butter which was fantastic! I'll definitely be craving that corn again sometime! The prices were on the lower-side of average for the food truck scene in Hampton Roads. Prices are another thing that might change as they are in business longer. They were also extra friendly from the moment I stepped up to the truck! Offering me whatever I needed and even getting out of the truck to come ask me a question of convenience, not necessity. I know several spots that would have just shouted it or not even bothered. So far so good! I hope they keep popping up at Smartmouth VB so I can try more of their menu and see how they change things up as they get a few more months of operation behind them! I'll definitely be updating as I try more! Next time I'm definitely going for the pimento cheese nachos!

I ordered the Pork BBQ on a Stick, Truffle Potato Balls, Pork Menudo, Veggie Pancit (x3) and Beef Lumpia. Everyone was happy with their order and I appreciated the attention to detail that the staff provided in making sure that my order was correct and it was prepared/packaged to be ready to eat (not soggy or messy) when I got home.

So much so that I had to go back the next day. I ordered the corn tacos which were so yummy!! A friend had the balsamic fig jam grilled cheese she said that it was VERY GOOD!! As I stated the tacos were so good I went back the next day for another order! By the way I added grilled chicken to the corn tacos!! The owner who was really pleasant offered me a sample of the brown sugar cinnamon cookie/ bar the description stated that it tastes like a pop-tart very accurate!! It definitely tasted like the brown sugar cinnamon pop-tart but better!! If you come across The Silver Fox I highly recommend you stopping by for a visit you will not be disappointed!

I ordered the crabcake sandwich with the Cajun mustard on the side as well as French fries. Upon first impression the crabcake looked overcooked on both sides and thin. I am someone who does not like overly cooked/charred food, so I was a bit worried but still hopeful. The crabcake, however, was flat and had a solid amount of filler so I was not impressed. With it being overly cooked on both sides and thin, I was not able to properly enjoy the crab cake and did a lot of picking to try the inside. The inside had decent flavor but over all the sandwich was not at all to my standards. I did enjoy the fries though, they were crinkle cut, seasoned and were the perfect fry for dipping in ketchup, those were yummy. The Cajun mustard was solid as well. I am not a mustard person, but they said the sauce was popular and I can see why. However, sauce and fries are not enough so I do not know If I would give this truck another try on my own.
