The restaurant has a lot of character and plenty of seating. They are cash only, so come prepared. The food is was just so so for me. Both the beef and pork bbq are pretty good, the beef being my preference. I was not a fan of the ribs. Mine were not really tender. I liked the sauce, but I do wish the meat itself had more seasoning.

I had just checked into my hotel and was looking for something nearby to eat when I came across it on Yelp and I've been hooked ever since. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even taking the time to share helpful information about the area. The food? Absolutely outstanding. Consistently great every single time. This has been my go-to BBQ spot for years, and it's the first place I recommend to friends and family whenever they're craving good barbecue. It's about a 40-minute drive for me now, but honestly, I'll make that drive any day it's that worth it. It's more than just a restaurant to me at this point it's tradition. Every time I come home from deployment, this is my first stop. No matter how long I've been gone, this place always hits the same.

I have been here several times to pick up food, but this was my first time actually going inside to order. The line was long around lunchtime, but it moved quickly. It is fast casual style, so you walk down the line choosing what you want and then pay at the register. I honestly had no idea that was how it worked before, so I was prepared to wait a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient everything was. I was in and out much faster than expected. While putting my order together, the man helping me handed me a sample rib over the counter. I am a very socially awkward person and do not handle unexpected moments very gracefully, so I probably reacted a little awkwardly. That part was on me. The rib was GOOD though. He was very kind about my reaction and even handed me a napkin. The whole staff was friendly, asking how my week was going and checking in to make sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy, they clearly care about customer service. The food was great. The garlic and green onion sausage had so much flavor, and the bananamisu was the perfect sweet finish. I originally went in hoping to order the BBQ oxtail, but they were sold out within two hours of opening, which honestly says a lot about how good they must be. I had also gone the day before around 7 PM and they had already closed because they were sold out for the day. Just a heads up that they do close early if they run out of food. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and quick service. I will definitely be back and hopefully I will finally catch the oxtail next time.

Park and take a short walk because it's absolutely worth it. From the moment you walk in, the customer service is warm and welcoming. It has that perfect blend of Southern charm mixed with youthful energy. It's honestly refreshing to be served by young adults who show such great respect and genuine hospitality. The food was excellent--fresh, well-seasoned, and served in generous portions. Everything tasted like it was prepared with care. Even the restroom was clean and fully stocked, which always says a lot about a place. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will definitely be back again.

Staff were accommodating and friendly. The restaurant has a nice ambiance fit for an enjoyable fun night of drinks and food. To drink, I tried their $5 Cranberry Crush (7/10) it was refreshing and slushy, but not strong at all really just a slushy juice and the Georgia Peach (10/10) loved the flavor and was a decently strong drink. To eat, we started with the Pork Rinds appetizer (10/10) they were definitely fresh and flavorful; I loved the sauce that came with them. I also ordered the Catfish basket (5/10) I was excited when this came to the table because it looked as though it would taste good and was a great portion size; however, it didn't meet my expectations at all. There was no flavor to the fish or batter and the Mac and cheese was very much the same way, bland. Though I am giving a lower rating, I would come back for drinks and to possibly try a different food. Feel like I must've ordered the wrong thing or the cook was having a bad night? I have no clue, but I'm open to returning in the future. My overall rate of experience : 6/10

This small family owned business has something going on with their value offerings of Filipino cuisine. Now since it is a smaller operation and setup, it does not have the same variety as other bigger Filipino restaurant establishments in the area but it does not lack the flavor. I stopped in for some BBQ sticks and they are reasonably priced. I also noticed they had a full menu with pancit and items that are assumed to be made to order. They do not have much selection but I'm sure with time they will expand. I ordered the chicken and pork bbq sticks and it came out quickly. The meats were tender and marinated and the sauces of vinegar and chili sauce were a perfect match! I even placed an advance order for a future gathering due to the value of it. I will make sure to stop there every time I am in the area for some goodies. Please give it a shot everyone and give this small business a boost!

First things first..If you want any pork items you've got to get there early, cause it seems to be the first thing gone. So I opt for the "5pc lumpia beef with pancit". And ordered a side of "Chicken Stick", cause they we're already out of pork. Wow! They do not skimp, just take a look at the pics. The lumpia is a good size. It's not like a half size lumpia plus you get 5pcs. Now....the taste of the lumpia was too salty. I couldn't eat the rest. But the pancit with the chicken topping over it was delicious! The chicken stick was delicious tasty, and not dry at all. I would come back, and try other dishes. But the lumpia was way too salty. If they can cut down on all that salt it would be perfect.

My usual order is the combo meal with pork bbq, chicken leg quarter and two sides. They generously include a roll and a small cup of their delicious coleslaw along with a bit of their wonderful Pig Sauce. I usually select baked beans and macaroni & cheese as my sides. I think the baked beans are the best I've ever had and the Carolina-style pork bbq is also among the best I've experienced. The combo meal is priced at only $10 which is an amazing value. Every Wednesday they offer Chicken & Dumplings. Be sure to try it because it's really delicious. For dessert they offer delicious brownies every day as well as a variety of other desserts that vary from day to day. I really love the banana pudding and the lemon blueberry pound cake. Everything on the menu is homemade and really delicious. You will be pleased no matter what you choose to order. There is no seating so this is strictly a takeout restaurant. They offer catering services as well. Street parking is available and their is convenient free parking available across the street. If you haven't tried Southside BBQ & Catering you don't know what you are missing. Recently, Southern Living Magazine selected Southside as the fourth best bbq in Virginia. That's quite an honor but I have tried the restaurant they rated number one and I like Southside a lot more. I really appreciate this locally owned and operated restaurant. Joe and Vicki are active in the community and a great asset to the area.

There are multiple TVs playing at the same time, all different channels too. I thought that was interesting. There are pictures of cars everywhere and photos of people with their cars on the wall. I really enjoyed the cheeseburger and fries. (they write little messages on top of the buns. I'm just glad the one on mine wasn't rude or anything.) The banana pudding was really good too. The sweet tea was good enough for more than one refill. My server was very nice and seemed to be working hard. The place seemed clean. As it is, they are proudly "women-owned" and I think that's pretty cool. Cars, food, and chicks. Definitely a win-win-win for any dude out there that's into that stuff. Some of the older gentlemen at one of the tables near me tonight were certainly letting their voices be heard and not all of them were nice. So maybe there aren't that many left. One of them decided to go behind the counter and play with the dirty dishes. I'm not exactly sure what his deal was. Only complaints: the bathroom was gender-neutral, which could cause problems and just makes me feel uncomfortable, personally. It's also a one-person deal, which is a double-edged sword at best. And behind a couple of the booths, in the corner of the dining room, there is a play area set up for whom I assume are small children. That could get intrusive and annoying if it's a busy day. It seems really out of place and unnecessary. Especially when there are creepy dolls, Mini-Walmart shopping carts, and a full pretend kitchen set that gives off an "anything you can do, I can do better" vibe. If there are any friendly competitions between the cook and the kids on who can prepare a better meal in the future, I wouldn't be surprised. There are also lots of ads and photos printed onto the tables, which makes it very awkward to eat your food while a bunch of faces are staring back up at you. I just put stuff over the creepy images while I'm there, which is what I recommend if it bothers you as well. However, they did have little packs of marmalade at each table, so I'll be back for sure.
