If there are any friendly competitions between the cook and the kids on who can prepare a better meal in the future, I wouldn't be surprised. There are also lots of ads and photos printed onto the tables, which makes it very awkward to eat your food while a bunch of faces are staring back up at you. I just put stuff over the creepy images while I'm there, which is what I recommend if it bothers you as well. However, they did have little packs of marmalade at each table, so I'll be back for sure.
