Even though it's a chain restaurant, I've always thought that they had good food. Mission BBQ always delivers. I went with the brisket dry, and my wife got hers wet, and both were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The smoke, the bark, the tenderness you can't go wrong either way. The mac and cheese and green beans are a must every time. That mac is creamy, cheesy, and especially good when you add a drizzle of their spicy BBQ sauce on top -- total game changer. My wife swears by the Alabama white sauce, while I like to mix the Mississippi and Maryland sauces for that perfect sweet-and-smoky kick. Between the sauce variety and how consistently good the food is, it's one of our go-to spots when we're craving BBQ done right. Mostly Friendly staff (the lady was kinda rushing me through my order and didnt make eye contact once) , quick service, and that patriotic vibe that makes Mission BBQ feel like more than just a restaurant..it's comfort food with purpose. read more

For a chain, this place breaks the mold of the typical chain restaurant. I love the patriotism displayed here. An excellent example is that every day at Noon, they play our National Anthem on the speakers and everyone stands at attention. I get chills just thinking about it. My husband and I came to Mission BBQ for the 1st time and will definitely be back... probably often. As phenomenal as the food was, the service was just as great! I got the pulled pork with macaroni and cheese and my husband got pulled pork with macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. Both meals came with cornbread. Everything was delicious and fresh! Sooo yummy! We were actually watching a BBQ challenge show, which had us all craving some brisket. Mission for the bill perfectly! The brisket and baby-back ribs were excellent--perfectly cooked and flavorful. I wasn't the biggest fan of their Carolina style sauce, but there other sauces were pretty good. My first encounter with Mission BBQ was recently on a Saturday for family birthday celebration. I'm not much of a barbecue fan or connoisseur, so I always defer to my husband to tell me what's good. He likes Mission BBQ and I can now say I do too. I won't say this is the easiest eatery to get to. It's located in a strip shop off a busy section of North Battlefield. The parking lot is ample in size for the few retailers in the center. Mission BBQ occupies an end unit and you won't miss it if you look for the huge military truck out front. Ordering style is typical of a fast casual place - order, fill your drink, wait for food delivery. The staff was SO helpful to this first-timer. I try to eat consciously and multiple staff members offered some great suggestions. I ended up choosing sliced turkey and a side salad for myself and a pulled chicken slider plate for my daughter. I wish I had asked about seasoning on the chicken - it was too spicy for her young palate, but I enjoyed the leftovers the next day! She did like the baked beans, as did our whole family! My turkey, while flavorful, was quite dry. This was remedied with a selection of sauces on the table with descriptions of each. So helpful! The Memphis & Texas sauces were a favorite. My accompanying salad was HUGE and fresh. A great addition! Hubby had a brisket sandwich with mac and cheese and coleslaw. All was enjoyed. The primary reason for our visit was to celebrate a preschooler's birthday - and she loves Mission because of the National Anthem, which is played at noon. It's a beautiful pause in the day. There were neighboring tables of folks, some with veteran hats & jackets that obviously enjoy this restaurant with good reason. We noted a poster on the door announcing an upcoming closure for the staff to complete community service. I appreciate what Mission BBQ stands for and the good work they do for the military community. We had excellent service throughout our visit and the food was tasty. I haven't had MISSION BBQ in years! I stopped coming because I no longer eat red meat or pork. I never knew they offered salmon and chicken. I tried the chicken bbq sandwich with every sauce because I love a sauced bbq sandwich. When I ordered it, I felt rushed. I had several questions but I didn't ask half of them because the cashier was short with me. Again, haven't been in YEARS! The sandwich was horrible and cold. The sauce was great. Was in Chesapeake for a job and needed some quick lunch. I was able to get a plate of delicious meat for about $20. Brisket was nice and juicy and the sausage I got had some cheddar jalapeño which made it taste even better than usual. Came with slaw and cornbread as a side as well. First time at Mission BBQ (don't judge me ) and they did NOT disappoint! Let's start with customer service 200 out of 10! Everyone was friendly and super helpful. When they found out it me and my sisters first time eating at their establishment, they treated us like royalty or at least that's how I felt lol (see picture). They even let you sample food. Moving on to the interior (I'm saving the best for last ). The inside of the restaurant is clean clean but the bathroom! Baby that bathroom was sparkling clean and smelled good! 100 out of 10 Finally, the food my God, the food was DE-LISH! *chefs kiss* we tried the market sampler (turkey and salmon) with mac and cheese, collard greens and french fries plus it comes with cornbread. All of it was spectacular! I really wish I had taken a picture of the food BUT I did get a picture of the complimentary desert! Their seasonal strawberry shortcake (pictured)! Literally, the cherry on top of the meal. I'm loving Mission BBQ. I like the pulled chicken and baby back ribs. The ribs are my fav. It's tender and meaty. Hubby thinks the beef brisket is a touch and go. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's too tough. The meats are seasoned well with the right amount of smoke. The sides are pretty good. And the choices of bbq sauce meets everyone's needs. They have mustard vinegar, or sweet base so it's a lot to choose from. I don't know why... but BBQ places gives you the smallest bite size cornbread and Mission BBQ does the same and it's a shame because it's really good! I was excited to make a stop at Mission BBQ! I love their menu and variety. We ordered the three meat sampler with moist brisket, pork, and shredded chicken. Sides were Mac and cheese and beans. While I was in line I couldn't help but grab the huge brownie for dessert. Every bite of the entire meal was delicious! Food was comforting and filling . The Brownie was chocolaty , and perfect. Service was excellent, the staff was so nice . The one staff member was asking me all the questions, what kind of sauce do you want ? Is that enough? Did we get the order right? I appreciated their efforts to make sure each of us were happy customers. The inside of the restaurant was so clean. I love the decor and support for troops and veterans. Nice location. Our second time there we mentioned that we came with family from out of town (plus they're active military). One of the managers, Ken, heard that and immediately went above and beyond. He applied the Air Force discount even though it wasn't technically the right "day" of their promotion week. Plus, he surprised us with dessert at the end. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the food. One of my friends reccomended Mission Barbecue in Great Bridge. I had no idea they were so supportive of such a great mission! I love the Mission BBQ concept. I know we Yelpers sneer at the chain barbecue places but Mission is different. First off, they do a bunch of good in the community. They are huge into the Wounded Warriors project. Some stores even designate close-in parking spaces for wounded veterans and that's awesome. Second off, the food is excellent. Like, really good. Pulled pork is moist. Ribs are meaty. And the turkey that I had today was in-sane. Delicious flavor, beautifully cooked, almost sweet. Definitely needing none of the table sauce here. Cole slaw was crunchy and creamy and delicious. Were those celery seeds? It was great. Yes, I cut off a very small corner of the cornbread because it was also excellent. Amazingly terrific lunch. Service wise, it depends, if you get someone that just started working, usually they get the order wrong and they aren't very social. but if you get a veteran in the job then service is great. Food is ok, it really depends on when you come in, if you come in right at 12 you will probably get leftovers from yesterday, so i recommend coming in at like 2. I've been to a few of these place in different parts of the country and I have to give credit where credit is due. Their consistency in being able to deliver a product that is tasty with a staff this punctual and attentive is quite astounding. I have never been to a Mission BBQ that didn't deliver on food quality and service. They just seem to have this model down pat. COVID life is always interesting now. We decided to eat outside b/c well.. covid and I enjoyed the small area. I do wish it was bigger but as in most things, sometimes the outside area is an "add-on" to the concept of the original building design. Nonetheless, it was nice and very easy to work with. The food? We had high expectations coming in to this restaurant for the first time. We were planning to dine here before however we never had the opportunity until today. The first thing we noticed when we first come in is that they support the troops, which is impressive. The menu is simple and the price are affordable. The items are mostly a la carte unless you want to add a few bucks for soda and sides. As for the customer service, we were impressed on how polite and helpful their employees are. They will go all out just to help you, even if the restaurant itself is really busy. We ordered brisket, chicken, and the ribs. The portioning are huge, which is great. Everything we ordered, especially my chicken, are juicy and tasty. The ribs fall of the bone, which only a few restaurants can do. My favorite is their beans because they have little briskets in it which makes it more flavorful. Now I know why people love to go to Mission BBQ. I was really disappointed with this location as a whole. The food which is the most important part to me, was a total fail. I ordered two sides of Mac and cheese, that was a mistake. The consistency of the Mac and cheese was absolutely watery. I noticed my husband ordered a side of Mac too and his was completely different. The corn bread was so dry and hard I spit it out after tasting it. Now the service was not that great, except the dining room attendant was very nice and attentive. The only reason I'm giving this review a gracious 3 stars is because of the dining room attendant. However, their Brisket used to be seasoned and now it is bland I tasted the top where there used to be a wonderful rub and there was nothing not even salt. So, I've been to mission bbq before at other locations (vbeach & hampton), but this was our first time here. I was expecting pretty much the same thing. The food was good, as always, but their customer service was another level! I ordered the kids pulled pork slider from the kid's menu- I can never eat all the regular menu items, and I hate spending so much money on the entree with sides separately. I will always go to the kids menu from now on- it was a perfect portion for me! My friend ordered the cheesy jalapeño sausage, and didn't end up getting the correct sausage. I brought it back to the counter, and the manager told me it was not the correct sausage, so he immediately said he would bring the correct one to us. He let us keep the wrong sausage too (which was so nice- lunch for tomorrow!). A bit later on, my friend noticed there was a hair in her Mac & cheese. I told her to just go ask for a different side, but she said the Mac & cheese was too good. She ended up just getting it replaced, and the lady that she spoke to was very apologetic and gave her a complimentary blueberry cobbler. Hair happens- it's bound to happen literally anywhere, and no one likes it, but it is what it is. Very few places take care of their customers as well as we were taken care of today- I was blown away at the speedy friendliness that was shown to us today. I decided to post after this second trip being not up to their usual standards. The brisket both moist and dry are without any smoke or beef flavor. Macaroni and cheese has been watery and the food lukewarm. Bacon in the green beans is white and appears uncooked. So disappointed. Oh and I spent $93.00 for lunch. I love this place but they are running out of chances to get back on top.
