Boy if you ever get the thought of ordering Dulan's for thanksgiving dinner then erase it as soon as it pops into your mind!! LOL whoooa! Talking about a sh*# show! They are in the food/ thanksgiving biz and can't get it right after 30 years in business!!! 3 different lines for 3 different types of orders and pick ups with no signage. I ordered online the day before and asked for a 4 o'clock pick up. While there, I decided to make an additional order since I knew it would be a long wait. (Bad idea) So my original order took about an hour and a half. And the same day order was for turkey wings which they ran out of after they took the order. The lady comes out with about 25 orders in hand asking what else we wanted. Needless to say those orders were never filled because she delayed them about 3 hours by bringing them outside. Instead they should have just offered chicken instead because when I said give me pork chops it was a no. Now let me help yall out. Identify the lines to make less confusion for your customers. Simple signs will do. Pre orders should come cold. Refrigerate them! We ain't gonna eat them until the next day!! Then you could have them ready the day before!!! Do better! The receipt says short ribs, the container shows (SR) written on it so all bases covered, right? WRONG!!! The food was brought back and both lunch's were smothered steak!!!! They open at 11, our order was placed and picked up within the 1st 30 minutes of them opening, how do you get it confused so early?! This was my first time trying this establishment. My friends kept saying how good it was so I had to give it a try. I ordered the short rib dinner which includes rice and gravy on the bottom. And 3 sides and 2 corn bread muffins! Big portions and budget friendly as well the dressing is so delicious and the short ribs you must try both. The yams were good as well but the macaroni and cheese was horrible. I actually tossed out the Mac I couldn't stomach it no flavor tasted like school lunch macaroni. But the other sides and overall meal DELICIOUS! If they learn a great macaroni recipe easy 5 stars. Everyone I know said the Mac was not good lol but I had to be stubborn and try it lol. Ordered a oxtail dinner plate w/ double Mac, greens & black eyed peas. Great portions for the price of $26 BUT the Mac & cheese is one of the worst I've ever had. My family has frequented Dulan's for years to fulfill our soul food cravings. I had not been there in years, so I was excited when my mom suggested it for dinner one evening while I was visiting. It seemed like they were operating differently due to safer at home guidelines, so there was quite a line to place your order then quite a line to pick-up your food. The wait was definitely a downfall of the experience. Also, we got the family special and asked for half baked and half fried chicken, but ended up with all baked chicken. We decided to not make this big deal and enjoy the meal anyways. Overall, all of the food was pretty good and we will likely return after COVID passes in hopes of a quicker visit. read more

Dulans is my favorite place in LA since I moved from TX but today was terrible. Only because you pay almost 25-30 a plate and the food was all bland which was a first. Whoever is cooking today 1/19 around noon needs to stop cooking! They forgot the flavor 100%. Ate here 2 days earlier and the food was amazing. Today my family from TX came in and tore me up for getting them this. The food today was just bad. Yams aren't sweet or mushed. Just chunks and no flavor & the Mac & cheese has no flavor either! The oxtails taste like they weren't seasoned or prepped with any flavor. I come once a week sometimes more but after knowing the flavor is inconsistent makes me reconsider coming so often. read more

OMG, i haven't been to Dulans in a while and i just wanted some good food. unfortunately i got there the line wasnt long but it still took a minute to get my order. i didnt receive my complete order I checked that and they did give me my cornbread. i love there peach cobbler, instead of getting peach cobbler they gave me a side order of mashed potatoes I was home when I figured that out. The young lady placing my order was not focused on placing my order I had to repeat myself. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I will return again because the food is actually good. This was my 1st time at this Dulan's on centry and Western I normally go to the one on Crenshaw I ordered the oxtail dinner with greens Black Eyed Peas and macaroni N cheese. Never mind how long the wait was I understand it was busy but I was very unsatisfied with my food the greens were ok but I liked the black eye peas and the corn bread muffins..the oxtails were tough and didn't taste good. Ok, so as transparent as I want to be about this review, I gotta be reallly honest about it. This is in no way to discredit the establishment at all. It isn't you. It's just ME" This establishment was on my "To visit List" while visiting L A. I was able to get there on a Sunday since I was interested in their "Sunday Special" A heck of a DEAL! As I pulled up I noticed that there was a line and I was already anticipating the Succulent Sunday Supper. Mouthwatering and all. It appears that this may be one of their busy days as well since it was around the 6pm time frame. It took about 20 minutes or so before I got to the order window and the gentleman was friendly and more than willing to answer any questions I may have had. Gave several options with the exception of Rice (they were out of). Side note: They don't accept AMEX so I couldn't earn membership rewards points..lol anyway, it took about another 10-15 minutes to receive the order around the side of the building. Note: only outside seating is available at this location. In my order I got the Baked Chicken, Dressing, Black-Eyed Peas, Collard Greens, 2 Corn Muffins, Chocolate Cake and Tea. A LOT. So took my to-go order back to my hotel and prepared to devour the monstrosity of the amount food I recv'd. I also noticed that the weight of my order was unusually heavy. Oh well no complaints. It's because if I had to guess they serve GENEROUS PORTIONS. Well, as I sat back a looked at it I felt something terrible that came over me. I took a couple of bites from the sides, picked off a pinch of the chicken and I almost forgot about the dressing that was hidden beneath everything else...This is just a personal opinion but "I lost my appetite". I know! I know! how could I. No, I don't have an Eating Disorder . I had a disorder for not being able to finish eating it. This isn't anything against Dulan's, however, I felt it was just too much. Yes I've could've scraped some onto a separate dish, ate some and saved some for later or anything in between. Don't be confused I'm not dissing the taste, freshness or any other issues but I think either my eyes were too big for my belly. Another side note: I did eat a corn muffin, the chocolate cake and drank the tea... in the middle of the night lol. I'm sure I'll need to make this up in my future travels to the west coast. Omg!! For the past 4 years I have been tempted to get this place closed. I live across the street from this location and idk what type of voodoo is going on over there but, I wake up to the smell of delicious gravy seeping through my windows every morning! As soon as the "open" sign is in the window their loyal customers are there. On numerous occasions I have seen the line go halfway down the street. Their food is amazing! Completely worth it. Did the online order and it was easy to use. But I was hoping the flavors would be better on the food. Got the fried chicken and the pieces were soooooo small! And overcooked so it was dry. The Mac and cheese were bad and the collard greens I was hoping it to be slightly sweeter. Portion size for the sides were A LOT and the corn bread muffin was the highlight to the meal. Only 3 tables to side outside and service was not the friendliest. I visited Dulan's on Century today Sunday 9/22 @ 6:45. Food portions are fantastic! Taste is average. Let's talk about service......THE WORST!!! You guys should get the award for HORRIBLE SERVICE. Everyone in this restaurant behaved as if they didn't apply for the job and they are working against their will. No exaggeration everyone from the servers to the cashiers act as if they hate their job and they all lack luster and could really benefit from etiquette training. If you say excuse me sir and the response is "yeah whas up".... it's like nevermind I'll just take whatever you slap on the plate. Nasty!! I ordered the smothered chicken lunch with greens and black eyed peas. ALL OF THE FOOD TASTES NASTY!! I got the Sunday special Turkey wings- full of flavor and literally slid of the bone Mac- was excellent nice and burnt on The edges Yams- were nothing special but good Dressing- was great not chewy and again full of flavor. Service was on point as well there was a wait. But as soon as you walk up someone takes your order you move along the line watching all the plates being made and it makes you want to try something else because it all looks so good.
