I walked passed Dudley's Pancake House on Stroud Green Road with a mate and we was really attracted by the bright colours. It looked very warm and we thought 'pancakes?? lets see what this is about'. I looked at the menu in the window and the prices seemed quite expensive for pancakes. They had Savory pancakes for £7.95 and I couldn't work out why they were so much. As I was looking at the menu I saw the waiteress carrying a huge huge pancake towards a couple sat by the window. It looked so incredible that we had to give it a try.
We were served straight away and opted to sit at the back near the kitchen. I've gotta say, the place looks very impressive and the kitchen was immaculate. Having worked in a kitchen before I know how difficult it is to work under peering eyes, but the chefs looks relaxed and they seemed to be having alot of fun which was pleasing to see.
We ordered a bunch of buffalo wings to start, my mate ordered a meatball special and I got the "apparently famous" Until I met Dudley pancake which appeared to come topped with half of Borough Market! My mate ordered one of their oreo milkshakes and I wish ordered it! It was bloody delicious and the coke just didn't make the cut after tasting it. The wings were crispy and very tasty... they didn't last long between us.
Soon after finishing the wings the pancakes arrived... they have to be the biggest pancakes I've ever seen... a least 18inches. Mine came flat with vegetables poking out of the smothering cheese almost like a pizza. The meatball special was meatballs in a tomato sauce wrapped in a pancake. They were absolutly fantastic ... these churpy looking chefs certainly know their pancakes! £7.95... this was money well spent!
We got the bill and it was under 20quid. They had only charged us £4.99 for each pancake not the £7.95 on the menu! We left the waitress a tasty tip and made a swift exit thinking we were quids in. A meal like that for under a tenner... result.
I dunno what made me turn back after we left, but soon after I did it hit me, a big banner saying all pancakes £4.99 monday to friday! Forget that...I'll be back regardless read more
