Stopped here on a Sunday morning after church (~10:45). The service was nice and staff were polite, but the napkin boxes were empty and tables were unclean. I had to ask for napkins. Our donuts were so warm that when we got home to eat them less than 10 minutes later the icing melted off (see picture). The ambiance was stiff, everyone could tell the staff were overwhelmed/stressed. On top of this the donuts are very expensive, no one wants to pay $3 for a donut with half effort icing...

I'm not a big donut person. I'm not one to go out of my way for them, and I really truly think there are better things to get fat on than donuts. Duck Donuts is a little different. They do what I think all the other shops don't, and they have what I think all the other donut shops lack. I really love how their donuts are customizable and made to order. This takes their donuts from boring, stale, unexciting, to something really special. The fresh donuts are warm, delicate, flavorful, melt in your mouth, and texturally delightful. It's really night and day between these and any of the others that they pick off the counter and throw in a box or bag. I also love that you can choose from some tried and true flavor combinations, or if you don't trust them you can configure your own. Overall great experience. I'm still not going to be going out of my way for donuts, but you won't catch me saying no to one of these.

We came to this donut shop after the other shop we went to was closed. The hours here were great closing at 7 for all of us all day breakfast or donut people. That wasn't just a bonus. The best part of this place; they make donuts TO ORDER. They have an insanely large selection, are affordable, never run out because they serve as ordered, and have delicious coffee. My mind was literally blown; they came out hot and tasty and fresh as could be. I literally exclaimed like four times about how amazing this was. You can watch as they put your donuts together. The next best part is how adorable they are for all of this. 20$ with tip for 6 donuts fresh made and a large coffee. Go here. You will not regret it. The guy at the register wasn't particularly lively but had a flat affect, which is totally fine because he was at least kind as i kept exclaiming with excitement about his store. He also was kind when i swapped one of my donuts. Overall get your butt here asap. The cold brew was tasty, and they had alternative milk which was super tasty! The pictures speak for themselves and the flavors are abundant and will not disappoint.

Been here a few times. Everything from the donuts, coffee, and espresso has been great. We recently made a stop here because it was my son's birthday. He got two donuts and said they were excellent. I got an iced americano. It was nice and smooth. It is a nice treat and will be back for more!

I've had better donuts. This was one of the only close donut places to us that we hadn't tried (we've tried Peace Love and Little Donuts already in Northern Michigan). Duck Donuts serves warm vanilla cake donuts and then they're topped with their different variations. I got a maple donut and strawberry but the donuts were so soggy and soft they felt like they fell apart. The maple icing was applied when the donut was still hot so it just melted and soaked into the donut and I could barely taste the maple. Same goes for the strawberry. Not a bad donut place, but I've definitely had better.

What did I choose to have for breakfast today? That's right, donuts! I decided to try Duck Donuts because I have never been here before but heard they were very good. When I walked in around 9:30 there was only one person in from of me. She had a large order, but the man at the register was working quickly. There was definitely a lot of options to choose from and they all sounded so good, but I decided to only order a half dozen. The Beach Ball flavor was my favorite, although the Cinnamon Bun was a close second. Each donut is served warm, which I thought was an unique touch, and made them taste even better! The employees were quick to take my order and make the donuts. I only waited about 3-5 minutes for them to be made. Once the donut were made, the employee showed them to me to get my approval that they looked correct. Totally satisfied, give this place a try!

I would probably give this place 3.5 stars, but opted for 4 obviously. Staff was pleasant and helpful. My cousins and I stopped here after a day of shopping at South Hills for some donuts. The bacon was my favorite, which I wasn't expecting! I liked the sugar and peanut donuts as well. The regular glazed, sprinkled, and iced just tasted like reheated donuts from dunkin' to me.

I was here a few months ago. It was November 1st, 2020. I remember it so clearly, I recall it very vividly. I was starry-eyed, after a socially distant Halloween night. Recounting the shenanigans we had, and the unexpected moments from the late chat. I didn't know why my friends were excited about donuts, but I went ahead when they said "join us." I'm not someone who craves sweets, but I certainly wish I had been more open. You see, their bacon donut was delish! I should have grabbed a dozen! I definitely plan to return soon, but they're closed in this moment. I'll be back by week's end, and I'll try to smell their oven. Donuts ok! I liked their donuts!

We went to the South Hills to check out a new restaurant that just opened, and saw on the map that Duck Donuts was nearby. I haven't been near South Hills Village mall in literally 10 years, so my boyfriend and I explored what was around. I have seen so much hype about Duck Donuts on Yelp, so we had to try them. They are located in a fancy strip of stores near Whole Foods. We went in around 3pm and it was completely silent. There were a few people waiting for orders and one girl making their custom donuts. We looked at the menu and waited for someone to take our order. Another girl came out from the back and waited on us. We each ordered a custom donut - so two donuts total. I got one with maple icing and graham cracker crumbs. My boyfriend got one with blueberry icing and oreos. They were cheap - I think it was $4 total. We then waited about 15 minutes for our 2 donuts to be made. They custom made every single donut in the 2 dozen order before making our two quick donuts. It felt silly, especially because we stood there watching while the shop was completely silent. It felt sad in there honestly - not like a donut shop should be. I liked the warm donut and thought the size was perfect. However I think there are better donut options (Thyme Machine/Bitter Ends, Peace, Love & Little Donuts, Valkyrie Donuts, Oakmont Bakery). I would not make a special trip here again.

Duck Donuts is always super consistent! Love their fresh made to order donuts. They always come out with new assortments seasonally and it's fun to see the creativity. I don't recommend the coffee here. Even the cold brew tastes burnt but it's a fun spot to grab donuts when you're in the area.

On a scale of romances to documentaries, Duck Donuts is a choose your own adventure novel. Welcome to cake donuts in a million different ways! You choose your toppings, and they make the donuts fresh. This was a delicious experience, and I highly recommend if you're near South Hills Village Mall.

But I was in the area one Saturday morning around 9 am and the line looked manageable so figured I'd try and see if I could get some. I waited maybe 10-15 mins, so not too bad. My 5-star review is 100% due to the old fashioned donut. When it was my turn to order they had literally just brought out a tray of donuts that looked really good. I asked what they were and was told "old fashioned". Since they just came out fresh I decided to get a couple. I should've got a dozen of just those. Since it was my first time I picked several others to try and they were all fine, but the old fashioned - elite. I would definitely wait in another (10-15 min manageable) line for those specifically. My husband had to talk me down from returning the next day to get more lol.

If you are truly looking for some of the best donuts in the Pittsburgh area, then look no further…read more Better Maid is a locally-owned small business with some of the best cake donuts I have ever tasted. Located on Steuben Street in the West End, this shop dates back several decades. It is located in an unassuming white building, with little signage. However, there is plenty of street parking along with the private lot on the side. This place does not necessarily have set business hours. They have an open time, and go until they sell out. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday they are open at 7 AM, and the weekends is 8 AM. I would advise arriving for the set open time if you are planning to get donuts on any given day. Especially on the weekend, they will sell out within an hour or two (yes, the donuts are that good!!). Plan accordingly if you are planning to stop. It is not unusual for a line to be forming 30+ minutes before the doors open. The plus of getting there early like that is that you will be one of the first served, and therefore able to get first picks! The selection of donuts rotates each day. There is not necessarily a schedule on which this occurs, but they might have a flavor today that they will not have tomorrow. Some of my favorites overtime have been the blueberry cake, pumpkin cake, cherry "sandwich" filled, sour cream, and so many more. I have asked the staff before if/when they would be making a particular kind, and they will let you know if they have an idea, so do not be afraid to ask. They sell cake donuts, regular donuts, long Johns, cinnamon rolls, and other speciality items each day. There are also donut holes, while are quite honestly some of the best I have ever tasted anywhere. They are usually warm and melt in your mouth. Do not leave without buying some if they are available. The value here is unbeatable. With the donuts being homemade and fresh, the prices are the best anywhere. They are even cheaper than somewhere like Dunkin, but the quality is 100 times better. This is probably another reason the people keep coming back for these delicacies. However, note that it is CASH ONLY! When I first started coming here, an older gentleman owned the place. He was so friendly and social to everyone who walked through the door. I always enjoyed interacting with him when I came by. A few years ago, a younger couple bought the business. However, the previous owner still works alongside them, which is cool to see! The new owners have been more consistent with being open during advertised open days, and are active on their Instagram account. This helps with knowing specials, when they sell out, if there is a change in being open, etc. Before, the days were sometimes hit or miss if they would be open. However, this has improved a lot since the new ownership has been in place. I love Better Maid - there truly is not a better cake donuts or donut hole anywhere I have tried in Pittsburgh. Plus, it is local people producing a handmade product, which is something everyone can get behind supporting. I just wish there were set hours sometimes, but that is part of the culture of the business. So, plan on brining your cash and waking up early for these delicious treats.
