Fresh, mouth watering, eye popping, party in your mouth donuts. Not your grandmas donut shop of yore. These donuts are made to order fresh. Starts with a vanilla cake donut, then you get to pick a coating, a topping and a drizzle. So many choices, or be lazy and pick one from menu. Lol. These were addicting and delicious! I especially liked the salted caramel drizzle. Fun to watch the magic happen, more fun to taste the fruits of their labor. read more

Came to OBX from the Philadelphia area on a vacation. Never realized Duck Donuts originated in Duck, as a Duck Donut opened close to my home back in NJ. I never looked to see they had other locations. Anyhow, the donut base reminds me of a Hostess powdered donut you get from a store (yellow and dense and not typical of a bakery donut I'd get anywhere back home). The toppings are very creative and what make Duck Donut famous. They are pretty good hot off the belt. A little too cakey for me but tasty just the same. Wow wow wow is all we can say! So incredibly yummy!! My daughter said they were "life changing" lol Can get pretty crowded around closing time. Order online to just pick up and go! Served warm and fresh. With very good ingredients. You can just tell it's quality. We got these almost every day we were here lol Oh and they take Apple Pay which was helpful! read more

Lighted sign above register advertised Key Lime and Lemon Lime. When we reached cashier, she said they discontinued those flavors. No menus posted or available until in front of cash register and had only one cashier with a line out the door. People had to wait until in front of cash register to see a menu. Big fan of Duck Donuts and was happy to learn this location had opened. Visited 3 times during our stay and 2/3 visits were excellent. Donuts are delicious and the staff overall does a great job making them to order. On our last visit yesterday, we came in at 1:20pm. They'd run out of batter so we waited while they made some more, no problem. As we were handed our box of 4 donuts, some other customers walked in and the teenager waiting on us muttered great, more people. Granted they don't close until 2pm and it was only 1:30pm but I get it- I remember being a teenager with a summer job and wanting to go home too. That didn't bother me, but when we had already left and started our trip home I opened the box of donuts and 1 of them was left plain when I had ordered the Boardwalk. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to that. I guess I'll have to wait until next year to eat that again. read more

It's good for what it is. My kids loved it. Imo, it's mainly the gimmick. Fresh made donuts that you can customize. Which is great, if that's what you're looking for. In fairness, I didn't try the donuts personally, so take this as you will...but I bet you can get much better *quality* donuts other places. read more

Oh duck donuts, the final product is wonderful but the process can be difficult. All my admiration for how hard the employees are working but the line inside is not Covid friendly at all. Very congested. The donuts are always wonderful but the line is always awful. I guess that's how you know you're successful? Not sure Duck Donuts lives up to the hype. Yes, the donuts are tasty and the flavor combos are ambitious, but no fried batter is worth the time commitment these command (demand?) Two recommendations- one for DD ownership; the other, for those of us with a pronounced sweet tooth. For DD, redesign your shops to have more check in/check out lines. The more the merrier. For those seeking a sweet fix, visit any one of the many local bakeries. They are all awesome and can serve you quickly! read more

Duck Donuts is one of those places where the making of your food is part of the experience. So, they basically have this really cool machine cranking out hot donuts in an constant line of deliciousness. Then you place your order and specify the type of frosting/coating and any toppings you want and they make your donuts to order right there in front of your face. The net result is a box of super hot, delicious donuts. I will say that this is the first donut I encountered where I really truly could not finish two donuts. They are dense, and though they are delicious, they are really sweet. I got a chocolate icing with rainbow sprinkles and a peanut butter iced. The peanut butter was honestly too dense for me... really thick and gloppy. I probably would not order again. The chocolate was better, but by then I was so full that I had trouble finishing it. My husband says the straight powdered donut was awesome and the way to go. At $1.20 per donut, it aint cheap. But it's also not ridiculous and was a fun stop. I could see how stopping here with your kids could be a blast. But be warned that the line can be long (given that each donut is custom ordered and made this should not be surprising). Order a half dozen or dozen and the price comes down accordingly. All in all, a fun stop! read more

Was in NC for Spring Break and had to try the infamous Duck Donuts! When you walk in, you're greeted by the smell of freshly baked dough *drooling* making you want to order one of everything. I nearly did, grabbed a couple dozen and my family and I feasted and landed in a sugar coma, following our fierce game of uno. Anywho, back to the donuts! After hearing all our friends rave about Duck Donuts, and swarming to the location in Cary, we decided to try it out during our visit to the Outer Banks. We ended up coming here twice in 24 hours. The donuts are warm, hot out of the oven, and it's mesmerizing watching the machine pop out dough into the oil. I love that they hand-dip it in whichever permutation of glaze and topping that you want: strawberry, maple, cinnamon, chocolate, shredded coconut, bacon, peanuts, sprinkles, and the list goes on. The donuts were just the right amount of chewiness/cakiness, and didn't feel too oily/greasy. Definitely coming back for donuts every time we pass through the area! read more

I hate to write this review, first and foremost, I love Duck Donuts, they are always cooked to perfection, the cinnamon sugar is warm and crispy while still soft in the middle with just the right amount topping. I don't think you can go wrong with any topping combination, and there an abundance of options. The bad, good luck getting in and out in less than 45 min. I attempted at length to make an order online, however the app continued to say the store wasn't open, when it clearly during their hours of operation. Finally, I was able to get my order in and placed and off we went eagerly anticipating those nice warm delicious donuts. Imagine the disappointment to walk in and find out that the order was sent to a location about 6 miles away. I called that location only to find that none of the locations answer the phone, they only have an answering machine that explicitly states they do not return the calls. I'd love to say this is a staple stop while in the Outer Banks, however, there are so many other great options in the area that create an easier and faster ordering experience that I will start to take my business to. read more

Okay let's begin with these Donuts are not very good, they are AWESOME. After having eaten at Federal Donuts in Philadelphia, Back Door Donuts on Martha's Vineyard, Voodoo Donuts in Portland OR, and Allies in RI . I have been to many of the TOP Donut Places in the USA. That being said this little Donut shop in Duck NC belongs in that elite group of fine establishments. When I come to the Outer Banks, I crave Duck Donuts. Maybe I'm spoiled now that there is one in Pittsburgh, but this time around they were just okay. I think the problem lies in the fact that if you are eating them hot, that's probably your best bet. But if you are taking them to go, the hot donuts and the closed boxes result in a gooey mess with soggy donuts. For to-go orders, I wish they'd actually cook the donuts in advance and let them cool in advance before coating them. Case in point, it's basically impossible to get a powdered sugar donut as it just melts and basically turns into a glazed donut. read more

Sad to say, this was one of the worst cheese steaks subs I have ever had. The combination of ingredients only works if all them play their individual parts. The meat needs to have some char on it to bring out its flavor. The onions have to be caramelized so as to pop with sweetness whenever one is bitten into. The cheese needs accent the meat and onion, not mask it. There are supposed to be multiple layers in a submarine sandwich, not just one bland flavor. I would not recommend this place at all. You are better off going to Subway, at least it will not cost you almost twenty dollars for a flavorless sub.

First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. And, I hope you saved room for dessert, because the key lime pie was a mouth explosion.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. If you are in the Outer Banks- whether you're staying in Kill Devil Hills or nearby- this restaurant is worth the drive and all the hype!

Each year we try one of Morning Views beans they readily have available and while we opt for whole beans they will grind yours if you want. For this week's vacation we ordered up Woodys dark blend and Bootys dark blend because we sampled these last year and they were great. The muffins are awesome and our favorite is cranberry orange....never disappoints and we highly recommend. This place is always busy early in the AM but they seem to be well staffed with experienced crews....owner always seems to be there making sure everything runs smoothly.

Food was good but come on, no air conditioning when it's 90 plus degrees outside. Oh, the flies. There were a lot of them. Hopefully this was an isolated issue with the AC and the flies.

Ms liked the burger saying it had better grill crust flavor than the one she had at Snow Birds a week ago. This one also seemed to be generous for a ¼ pounder and is well priced. I have and their chili dogs before and was not disappointed. I like the bun length dog and their chili is well flavored. Some places' chili is too sweet or heavy-handed with garlic. This is just right. We don't get here often, but when we do, we enjoy it.

I was thrilled to not see an entire list of hazy IPAs. Is this a miracle? I order two two fantastic beers One was an IPA ,but I can't remember the other. Whoops! But such a good selection overall.
