What I didn't expect was how great things can come in small packages. The location is very tight and cozy, as space is small. It was beautifully furnished with some cute and vintage decor. The only downside I had in my experience is that it was really hot when I went, which made it really hot in the building. People were sweating like hot tea. Now what I am excited to talk about the high tea itself! My 3 friends and I shared a pot of cream of earl grey. The taste was rich and creamy (depending on how much cream and sugar you put). I really enjoyed the blend of the tea, it made me start drinking tea again at home. The food was great as it came with an assortment of sweet and savory pasteries. I really enjoyed the spinach puff pastry and lavender lemon tarts! It was just how you would have imagined. Flaky pastry with a creamy spinach and the tart lemon paired with a buttery crust. I just wish I had more of those to eat! You only get one per person. It's also worth mentioning that the staff were super helpful. We mentioned that one guest had a nut allergy and they were able to accommodate by bringing our friend her own separate tray! They also refilled our tea and cream quite often. We really felt like royalty with the service provided! I will be coming again! It definitely was a pleasure being there.

I had heard…read morenegative things about this place compared to other places for tea so I tried to talk her out of going. She said let's give it a try based on a recommendation from a friend. We were all pleasantly surprised. It wasn't so bad although they didn't have cloth napkins, we didn't get a choice of tea, the cups didn't match and there were some cheaper cutlery used, and finally there wasn't really a lot of food and the food was good but not anything remarkable.. I didn't like that the egg salad sandwiches used wonder bread or something of that quality. It could have been made a little more special and I wish there were more savoury items. Nevertheless, when we went, we got a choice of three rooms and it wasn't really busy so it was very nice. Usually your time is for an hour and 15 minutes, but we got to stay as long as we wanted. The staff were all very nice and friendly, which I appreciated and the decor was old-fashioned and the music was from the past so the ambiance was quite lovely. My mother really had a good time there, being her first high tea experience, with the added bonus of being able to spend some time in lovely Fort Langley. I would say it's worth a try.

The restaurant is beautiful with both Indian and Japanese design sensibilities. They have a table service restaurant with both high tea and an extensive a la carte menu, and it looks like you can also buy mithai in bulk. The food isn't really Japanese-Indian fusion as you might expect, but more like Japanese impression of Indian food, if that makes sense? There's a few hints of Japanese and Asian influence, but the menu is mostly modern Indian. All vegetarian. There's no vegan or gluten free options for afternoon tea, but the a la carte menu includes many clearly labeled vegan and GF dishes. I wanted to try the afternoon tea set to get a wide sampling of their offerings. The set included: corn spinach puff, paneer tikka slider, cream cheese cucumber sandwich, samosa, chutneys for dipping, manchurian skewers, orange cranberry scone with whipped cream, rose rasmalai cake, dodha crunch, motichoor cheesecake parfait, and the choice between masala chai, coffee, or hot/iced caffe latte. It's $32/person for the set, which is a great price. I also appreciated that it was possible to order the set for just one person since it seems like many teahouses will only do it for 2+ people. I thought all of the items in the set were pretty good, and there was a balance between the sweet and savoury items. The only things that really left anything to be desired were that the scone was a bit dry and crumbly, and I thought the tandoori paneer could have been more flavourful. In general the flavours of the savoury items were a bit more subtle than in typical authentic Indian food, but for the most part it didn't come across as bland to me, just a different take on it. The standouts in the set were: the paneer slider - even if the paneer itself didn't impress, I loved the almost flaky texture of the pav - the manchurian, and the rose rasmalai cake. Also, the cream cheese cucumber sandwich had cilantro or chutney or something in the cream cheese which made it much more interesting than the plain version of this sandwich. The masala chai (my chosen drink) was also very good. It was served in a pot that contained 2 small servings. My waiter was very friendly and stopped by a few times to check in. When I was done eating and wanted my bill, it was easy to get his attention. I visited at what seemed like a quiet time so I didn't have much competition for attention. One thing that I thought was odd was when he gave me the machine to pay, there was no tip option - it would be cool if they had a no-tip policy, but I never saw any mention of it, so I wonder if he accidentally bypassed the tip when putting in my charge. It was an interesting and very pleasant experience. I was so curious about this place that I made a trip out from Vancouver just to try it (and couldn't get anyone willing to go to Surrey for afternoon tea with me, hence the afternoon tea order for one), and it was worth the trip!

Kudos to the young gentleman who we had the pleasure of dealing with this lovely afternoon .. since it was our first time .. he took the time to explain the menu and made suggestions .. our party of 5 enjoyed immensely and was able to try out a bit of everything! .. after seeing their post on Facebook we decided to take a drive out .. at first we thought we had entered an unauthorized driveway as we had to pass a service road ( unpaved ) .. upon making the last turn we saw a wide open plain with tiny white flowers all over the grounds .. come explore the space and enjoy the organic teas & hand crafted confections ( do try out their Japanese inspired Anko Confections! ) Call ahead if you wanted to reserve specific items as they are all made in-house in a very limited number!

It even said that it's "closed" but really, it was open, but only just for us because we booked the Private Function Room for a bridal shower!! We got to the room and it was like high-tea heaven! They had prepared the room specifically for the shower and it looked spectacular!! I loved every single item we had here- pastries, treats, tea. I loved that everything was organic and made fresh in-house. My favourite would be the orange jelly dessert because I have such a sweet tooth! And my favourite tea is the bubble gum iced tea!! All of the tea was delicious! The wait staff and kitchen staff are so friendly and family-like. They were such amazing hosts. I am definitely coming back again!
