After a day trip to Sintra in Septmber, 2018, we headed to Cascais from Lisboa for dinner at Duche Bar. We had viewed their menu previously and were drawn in by the single servings of paella. We got off the train at Monte Estoril and stopped at Baiuka and John David's as we wanted to take a walk along the promenade on our way to dinner.
It was a weekday evening and by the time we got to Duche, around 7:30PM, the Cascais promenade bars were all closed. Duche had one table seated with 6 people, but they were still serving. We ordered the o Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato (clams in wine and garlic) to share and it was absolutely delightful. We ordered a serving of paella mariscos each. The dish was advertised as langostines, shrimp, mussels and squid. It was served in a cast iron skillet/dish. It was very good, but there was one lonely langostine and another lonely shrimp, which was disappointing. That said, for the price, it was still a very good meal. We accompanied it with a bottle of Alvarinho Vinho Verde, which we definitely recommend.
Despite there only being 2 tables to serve, our waiter was very slow and missing in action numerous times. He was very friendly, however, and we recommend this establishment for eating on the Cascais promenade and waterfront. read more
