I can't express how great of an experience I've had with Dr. Dubow. I came into his office having some serious issues with my skin. On top of that i was having problems with my insurance. He made me feel comfortable and unashamed as many can feel in certain financial situations. He was able to work with me, insurance and the medication he knew I needed to be on in such a quick period that I had my medication in less than two weeks and already saw results in less than a month since the start of the process. He is a highly intelligent, confident and resourceful man that will make sure you get exactly what you need. I will recommend this doctor all day long! read more

This place is brutal. Doctor is arrogant as if he is above his duties. Cut me off multiple times when I was speaking. Did not attempt in any way explain or make his diagnosis digestible to a common individual. Said he would come back in and never did, left me with multiple unanswered questions. When the nurse came into give me prescriptions she was impatient and offended that I was asking questions and literally developed an attitude. Quite frankly I'm shocked that an establishment such as this is still running and more, manages to keep up a professional appearance, yet lack that very essence that makes us human. read more

Until I moved from LA about 2.5 years ago Dr. Dubow was my dermatologist. He and his staff were absolutely fastastic. I was there for Basal cell carcinoma, something I have a long history. He did a number of biopsys, one time calling to indicate that he had gotten all the problem area in the biopsy. He performed the MOES procedure on me a several times. One time he had to take a significant part of the rim of my ear but patched it up so there is no indication except that one ear lobe is slightly shorter than the other which noone ever notices. The reviewer who commented on the parking was correctly notified that the Beverly Center is the place to park. I am on my second dermatologist since I moved to San Jose. The first was terrible. Just saw the second today and gave him 4 stars, but I really miss Dubow. If I was a millionair, I would fly down there to remain under his care. I also recommended a friend to him and the friend too had a very positive opinion. read more

This review is long over due. I have been going to Dr. Dubow's office for about 2 years now. Growing up in South Florida, my skin had become accustomed to that particular type of climate. As soon as I moved to the West Coast I began having skin nightmares. The second my skin cleared up, I would have another breakout only a couple days later. Facials weren't helping at all and the steam room at the gym wasn't much help either. I was convinced that my skin literally hated LA. After receiving a word of mouth referral from a top Doctor in the area, I made an appointment to see Dr. Dubow. He was kind and informative. I began coming in once every other month for "clean-ups" which essentially are mini 10 minute facials given by one of his Nurses (Craig is amazing btw). Dr. Dubow prescribed me a couple of night creams and some medicine that did the trick and zapped those babies away in less than two weeks. He even gave me some samples to try out before filling me prescriptions. Its been two years and my skin is clear of breakouts. In a pretty town like this, a break out is the last thing a girl needs :) He also offers cosmetic procedures and seems to have pretty good prices that are even comparable to some spas except you are getting treated by an actual Doctor. It's definitely not the cheapest but you get what you pay for...and when it comes to your face, you should never be stingy. Side Note: Try to find parking on the street. Dr. Dubow is a highly skilled doctor, with expertise in basically every aspect of dermatology. I trust his advice, for he is clearly on top of his game. I'm glad I found him; otherwise, I may not have ever realized that I had a basal cell carcinoma that was slowly growing on my nose. I feel like he and supervisor Craig (another amazing person who performs his many medical duties with great confidence and warmth) went out of their way to put my mind at ease after we decided to biopsy another suspicious area that had been there for a long time. Usually patients aren't told results if they are positive, but I got a call from Craig less than 48 hours later telling me that the lesion was benign. That was so appreciated and thoughtful. Dr. Dubow was also able to diagnose a few other issues rather quickly and I believe correctly. He is a consummate professional with a genuine, calm, likable personality. As I intimated above, Craig is a rock star. And I also had a nice experience with their PA, Erin -- friendly, patient, and clearly knowledgable. I know some people are more concerned about this than I, but if you are worried about appointments starting on time, you are in good hands here. They seem to be very punctual, which is made more impressive by the fact that this seems to be a busy office. Highly recommended! read more

I went to this doctor once and feel like I flushed a ton of money down the drain. Here's one positive thing I can say. Getting the appointment was no problem. I could not find street parking so I parked in their structure. I was there for less than an hour and parking was $9.75. I didn't feel like this doctor listened to me. They just wanted to take my money and send me on my way. I went to see him about treatment for acne that I can't get rid of. I was seeing another dermatologist, but got sick of having to call them 4 times every month to get a refill. I told Dr Dubow that I had tried 2 types of medication, one (Doryx) made me nauseous, so I stopped taking it. Then I tried minocycline and that made me less nauseous but also kind of depressed. Minocycline didn't really clear up my problem either so it seemed like I should try something else. His response to that was that he felt these were the right things I should be taking and that the nausea was just something that came with it. What terrible advice. Since he said that he would put me on Doryx time release, I thought it was slightly different and gave it ago. Same crap. Also, he thought my skin was too oily. I told him my skin was in between, when I use things for dry skin it gets a little oily but when I use things for oily skin it gets too dry. So, I use products for dry skin and put up with the oily part (which isn't excessive). He sold me a bunch of products for oily skin. They totally dried out my skin and I had to stop using the moisturizer as well as the topical retin-A. I called and got a returned call the first time I told them the products were drying my skin out too much and was told to reduce the retin-A. I called again a few days later when the Doryx was having the exact same effect as before and no-one returned my call. I hope this review is helpful to people. It's unlikely I would ever go back to this doctor. read more

Never been to a dermatologist before this visit, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I dunno, I come from the very blue-collar South Side of Chicago and a skin doctor, while maybe not unheard of, is definitely something my family would deem unnecessary. However, a minor issue arose and since I'm an Angeleno now, why not try out one of those fancy schmancy skin doctors at the famous Cedars Sinai Hospital? The staff were polite and informative. The front desk receptionist warned me about 3 times that if a procedure is done in-office, it requires you to pay your insurance company's deductible. So I had to do some research on the cost of mine before going in. Luckily, I don't have a deductible, only a co-pay (phew!). The procedure was quick and painless. Neither of the doctors saw me, as they were both on vacation, so the staff Physician's Assistant Erin handled everything. I really enjoyed her. A few cons were parking- ugh, Cedars Sinai lot was $13 I believe... and receiving a bill after the fact. I guess pathology has a co-pay too...so i had a total of 2 co-pays, one the day of, one that was billed to me later. But it beats a $500+ deductible. All in all, I'd return...but only with the good insurance plans! read more

I have been a patient here for close to 15 years and everyone is amazingly wonderful ~ from Carla and Maria at the front desk who always seem to find an appointment for me that works with my crazy schedule, to all of the nursing staff, especially Joanna and Craig who have both held my hand through a number of procedures, even Kelly in billing is a pleasure to work with and I hate parting with money. ....and doctors Goldman and Dubow are both awesome. They are kind, patient, informative, and extremely talented. As a now middle aged beach kid, I have a myriad of skin problems including pre cancers, melasma, and rosacea not to mention the vanity issues that come with aging and both of the doctors are expert at all of them. I'll admit that I am extremely blessed to have not experienced acne in my high school days and even through college. I would have the occasional hormonal outbreak that I attacked, leaving open wounds and scars that I later regretted. Aside from my inability to not pick my face, I breezed through my teens relatively unharmed by the effects of acne and so never once thought to take care of my skin. I tanned a ridiculous amount, never wore sunscreen when I was a lifeguard for four years, and maybe washed my face in the morning before school. At the time it had no obvious damage and it wasn't until the summer after college and a humongous move to Los Angeles from the midwest that I noticed I couldn't continue with my teenage skincare routine. From cystic acne that would bubble and scar to small pimples that broke out amongst my forehead and chin like a rash, I started to experience insane skin problems. I cursed my early twenties and pinned the blame on hormones and stress. While these things most definitely played a part in the eruption on my skin, I knew I was also not treating my skin correctly. I researched and purchased items with no luck and no money left in my bank account. I started to give up and hide in my bed. After many tearful mornings and nights of FOMO, I decided to visit Goldman and Dubow. I was immediately set up with Erin Call and after describing my symptoms she prescribed a topical treatment (Onexton) and also an antibiotic (Actilate). Within weeks my skin cleared up and I was relieved to discover a social life again. I continued to have monthly check ups that then turned into every other month and finally at my sixth month check up Erin's work was done. Each check up I would describe my progress and concern with dryness or small breakouts and Erin would know exactly what to give me whether a soothing hydrocortisone for my undereye or a retina to rectify a few pimples on my forehead. He is professional and to some painfully honest meaning if it's to late he will tell you......... Being a young woman and losing your hair for whatever reason is terrifying! My hair is thinning all over so much so that leaving the house caused me anxiety. I earn my living in the beauty industry and without my hair I have to sell computer supplies! It's been a few months 3 to be exact of receiving monthly injections, daily pills and the magic Rogaine potion the Dr. formulates. Its amazing my bald area already is covered with new hair growth! My employer who goes here recommended I see either doctor. I made an appointment with Dr. Goldman, and specifically asked the receptionist if they were taking new patients, and that my boss referred me. She said yes, so I made an appointment. I was seen 45 minutes after my appointment time, and the little time I interacted with anyone, it was with a nurse. By the time Dr. Goldman actually saw me, it had been another 30 minutes in the exam room. When he did see me, he was practically rushing me out, he wouldn't really hear my problems, and told me my skin looked fine. I had to explain to him that I had makeup on and what I was having issues with, including what ended up being hives (which I had to go to an allergist to determine). All this after explaining to me that he wasn't seeing new patients but saw me as a courtesy to my employer. All he did was write out an Rx for an antihistamine and a refill for the medication I was currently on and walked out. I had to ask the nurse to bring him back because I have one more skin concern. Another 10 minutes later, he came back, and I showed him a patch of skin on my arm that was dry looking and wouldn't go away. he just looked at it and said it was a dry patch. I ended up going to a much better dermatologist who actually spent a lot of time with me addressing my concerns, and said that "dry patch" was actually eczema and prescribed a steroid cream to treat it. After almost two hours there, I only saw Dr. Goldman for less than 10 minutes. I felt like I was being rushed out, my medical concerns were not being heard, and his "courtesy" of seeing me wasted my time, copay money, and very expensive parking that they do not validate, and I was not even diagnosed correctly for my eczema. I want my $54 or so dollars back. read more

Regarding the office STAFF: I have not experienced a more rude or more impatient office staff in my life. Wait is usually over an hour but if you are 10 minutes late they make you wait 4 hours or tell you that YOU must reschedule but you still have to pay for that day's services. They are awful. In the hallway and elevators and waiting room everyone talks about how rude the office staff is. They are awful Dr Goldman's nurses are great and thank god for that because you usually only see the nurses...I think that is the trick, after an hour wait...you're willing to see anyone to get out of there. Dr Goldman is kind enough but its a retail practice, he's making $500 every visit so basically $3,000 and hour CASH (no insurance) and at those rates...I guess he feels he doenst have to care or provide any better service than wham-bam-thank-ya-man and PS, I heard that you waited TWO HOURS...TOO BAD! Lots of other doctors doing the same thing, no magic here, not good rates, not caring, not even really concerned so...if I were to start again. I'd go elsewhere, and frankly I will be looking to switch. I'm spending over $7,000 a year here...how can I do worse? read more

I've seen other derms and I had a really good experience with this one! I saw Dr. Goldman. Firstly, the staff was very nice and professional. I was a new patient and I called in the morning for a same-day appointment and they scheduled me in. They were also very lenient with time and let me work around my schedule. The reason I came in was because I had an acne cyst on my forehead that I wanted to get rid of ASAP. In the past I just got a cortisone injection, but I really liked Dr. Goldman's procedure a lot more. He actually drained out the cyst which I felt a lot better about instead of leaving it in there. He was very generous and took care of some other small spots I had too. Then I got a "cold treatment" afterwards which felt great. Really loved this place and wish I could come back, too bad I'm moving :( Highly recommended! read more

I had the worst hives I have ever had. My mom had some wierd growth and was very uncomfortable. I am writing because every single time we have needed help with very pressing issues this office has delivered every time. Dr. Brian & Goldman were accessable. I had to get a kenalog shot and my mom felt much better after seeing Dr. Goldman (she is very fussy & in the medical field as well). Unlike many places where I have been put on a waiting list only to be contacted 2 weeks later, this office has been accessible and responsive every time. This place is shady!!!!! They sent me a bill dated 01/02/15 saying they owe me a credit of $16.21. I get a bill 02/02/15 saying now I owe them $27.33. I spoke with Kelly who handles billing and she was beyond RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All she kept saying was "She knows what she's talking about, she's been doing this 25 years." She also said I owe a $20 copay from a 10/17 appointment that should be on my November statement and I asked "if I owe $20 from that visit and haven't paid it why isn't in on this 01/02/15 or 02/02/15 statement? If it isn't on my bill how am I suppose to know I owe it?" I asked her to tell me when my November bill was generated and mailed out for that $20 co-pay and she couldn't "find it." Go figure. She also said "It's only $27" If it's only $27 why you billing me for it then? Why don't yall just eat it. It's only $27. The way she went about handling this situation was ridiculous. A couple of years ago I posted a review on Doctor Dubow's practice (the link on his yelp page) which contains more than one doctor without realizing that there was a separate entry specifically for Doctor Dubow. With that said, Yelp removed both and asked me to repost in one or the other. As I'm not looking to critique all doctors I didn't see at a practice, I felt that posting here was more appropriate. To be fair, I'll reiterate again that this review is actually from a couple of years ago when I moved back from Pasadena to this area, I still think it is relevant for people to see ALL experiences, not just the positive ones. I am not questioning Doctor Dubow's expertise or his knowledge as I'm sure given the proper amount of time I would have loved him as he was a very nice person. However, I have every right to question his process when it affects my wallet and my valuable time when I felt I wasn't getting the appropriate amount of time. If things have improved since my appointment and now people are getting more time in front of him, that's great. However, that wasn't my experience when I saw him. My wait time was extremely lengthy (if I recall correctly it was at least an hour), but I understand that happens every once in a while and I can put up with that if I get the time and attention that makes me feel like a valued patient. In this particular instance, it wasn't just that I felt rushed as it wasn't a perception, its a fact. The appointment was rushed. You talk to a nurse first about all the things that are bothering you and the nurse discusses it in private with Doctor Dubow. Since Doctor Dubow is hearing everything 2nd hand, you have no idea if the message you communicated is received properly by him. When he came back into the room, I didn't have an opportunity to really explain everything with the same level of detail I did the nurse and he spent just a couple of minutes with me at most and quickly left the room. Then the nurse comes back and she discusses the treatment plan. However, that just led to more questions. I stated that I have more questions, but he never came back to see me. That left me very frustrated, again, due to the lengthy wait in the waiting room coupled with the very short time in front of Doctor Dubow (maybe 2 minutes at most). It wasn't the first time I felt rushed as it wasn't the first time I saw him. However, this particular time felt more rushed than the previous time. Perhaps my perception is due to the fact that with other doctors I am unfortunately forced to see (General Doctor, Cardiologist, Urologist, Gastroenterologist) I feel as if they give you adequate time, 5-10 minutes at a minimum to discuss things, often more time depending on the nature of the visit. I mean I had at least 3-4 different areas of my body and face with issues related to psoriasis and/or eczema with different prescriptions or lotions and I wasn't clear when leaving which prescription or lotion was tied to which skin issue. One of the issues was left unaddressed. I blame that on poor communication between the nurse and Doctor Dubow and my advice would be to stop overbooking (if that was the cause of the delay) and to get the details directly from the patient, not the nurse. When I chose a doctor, I chose a doctor to see, not a nurse. Anyway, as he did respond to my taken down review offering a free discussion, I'll bump it up one star...but I doubt I'll go back after that ridiculously long wait in the waiting room for such a very short unclear appointment. read more

I was referred by a colleague and have since referred MANY because Dr. Goldman's knowledge and expertise cleared my skin and has stabilized and maintain my clear skin for more than years. I saw Erin Call, the Physician Assistant in the practice. She was super friendly, didn't rush and gave some great suggestions about how to deal with some post-pregnancy skin issues and scar healing. I would definitely recommend her and would certainly see her again. She deserves bonus points for not pushing cosmetic treatments. While you certainly want them after pregnancy, I have enough NICU bills to prevent me from indulging. I noticed here that parking was mentioned in at least one other review. It was $13.50 for me to park for the short appointment, but I thought this was better than having to go to the Beverly Center. The parking garage was pretty full, so I doubt the price will be decreased when the demand is that high no many how many complaints there are. At least the practice tells you up front that they don't validate. The thing I didn't like was their process of getting topical medications. I was told that I should apply a topical medication and a lotion. The lotion was available on-site for $20 in cash (it was branded with the name of the practice physician). While this means you can't use your insurance, this wasn't horrible given the reasonable price. I was told that a local pharmacy would call me to make arrangements to get me the second topical medication. They called about 24 hours later from a blocked number and told me they had received a prescription. While I still don't know the name of the pharmacy, the person repeated the number several times. This was fortunate because the person who left the initial voicemail was really hard to understand. I returned the call about half an hour later and asked about mailing times since they send the prescription by mail. Since there was a holiday weekend, even they concurred that it would take awhile to get me the medication through the mail. I called the practice back and asked to have the medication called in to my local CVS. The nurse said she could do this but it might cost more. Not fifteen minutes later, I get a call from the CVS pharmacist telling me the topical medication retails for over $700 and that even with insurance, it will be over $100. Hmm. I asked him what alternatives might be available, and he said he would get back to me. I then received a call from a frustrated nurse telling me that she tried to explain that they have to use the mail order pharmacy because they have coupons that they can use for patients. I explained that waiting five days only to risk the post office not being able to put it in my mailbox seemed like a bad plan because this often results in taking time off work to track down a package at the post office. I asked if an alternative medication could be utilized. They called back shortly to tell me they helped CVS with the coupon and that I could pick up the medication on Monday because it would need to be ordered. This was still faster than the mail order pharmacy. So, in summary: Five stars for the provider. Four stars for the parking and the pharmacy practice. 1) Definitely see Erin. You will like her, and she will help you. 2) Be prepared for the cost of parking. 3) Ask for prescriptions that your local pharmacy can fill. It will be way less difficult to go to the CVS drive-thru on your way home from your appointment. read more

I'd highly recommend him if you have real medical needs, and/or if you want a little help looking your best without looking plastic. Dr. Dubow is a real find! I saw the great reviews of him on yelp and am so glad I did. After a bad experience at another dermatology office, I went to him for treatment of an infection in an incision. Not only did he make the infection go away within two weeks, but he also recommended Pulsed Dye Laser treatments to help minimize the scar. After one treatment, the bump definitely went down, and I am hoping two more treatments will take the redness away. He took his time with me and seemed very knowledgeable and straight forward, with a good sense of humor to boot. I also had him inject cortisone into two under the skin pimples, which made them disappear much faster than they would have on their own. He is also on my insurance plan (Anthem Blue Cross), which is great. read more

This guy... This guy! Dr. Dubow is a genius. I had super oily skin as a kid that left me a very young looking 42 year old. However, I am a sun worshiper and am paying the price with underlying skin damage. Dr. Dubow has been able to laser and remove my moles that have just started popping up, and has gotten me back on track with a regimen to get back to my youthful glow. Today was my first visit to Dr Dubow. It will not be my last. The entire experience was pleasant. First, I was lucky to find metered street parking nearby. Second, the front desk staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. Third, the assistant, Craig was outstanding. He prepped me, asked a few questions and within moments, Dr Dubow appeared.
