I am new to Southern California and dont know many people yet. I decided to go see Dr. Hazany to remove a knuckle pad on my thumb. I have tried to get it removed before but it wouldn't go away. I have a client facing job and the knuckle pad looks like a wart, so it has made me self conscious. To remedy my problem, Dr. Hazany used a very precise laser to remove it. This review is LONG overdue, after having a mole removed by Dr. Hazany in November 2021... After thorough research into finding the best possible Dr. and Dermatologist for a mole that I had my entire life, right smack in the middle of my chest- I came across Dr. Hazany on Yelp. I saw his insanely good work on skin cancer patients where he left little to no scar, and I was impressed. I'd researched and saw many photos of mole removals and followed my gut and made an appointment with Hazany- my first app was back in April of 2021.... The unexpected happened at this appointment. Hazany was giving me a thorough body exam for cancerous looking moles (as my mother had melanoma in her 20's)- when suddenly he felt the need to look at my husband. Within seconds he noticed a strange looking mole on my husband's torso that he said had to immediately be removed. I was shocked and worried, but we trusted Hazany and of course moved forward. We anxiously awaited results over the long weekend, luckily the mole was completely benign, but it looked extremely suspicious and Hazany made the right move to take it off. Hazany personally called us to tell us the good news, and I appreciate him taking the time to do so. This was a shocking experience but I am glad my husband went with me to my appointment today, as the mole could have just as easily been melanoma. After this experience I took a step back from my mole removal and let our emotions settle, and then made my appointment for my chest mole removal. Hazany suggested peptide shots in a series in order to prevent scaring as I have extremely thin skin on my chest- and I took his advice, I went in for my first peptide shot in Nov, then had the mole removal in December. Hazany is extremely confident, caring, and straightforward with his answers. He's an expert in removals and the removal itself was completely painless... Now to the results: WOW, it's been four months since I had the removal and you'd never even know I had a large mole in the middle of my chest. I have extremely thin skin on my chest and was worried I would have a large scar...my skin has almost completely filled in and there's no "scar" so to speak. I just want to applaud Hazany for his excellent work, care and attention to detail, both to my husbands needs and my own. He has a dry sense of humor which helped calm my anxious self (I'd been procrastinating having my mole removed for years as I was worried about the scarring). Dr. Hazany and Sarah did an amazing job revising my TCA burn scars. I had an unfortunate burn accident which caused disfigurement on my cheeks. I later originally treated for my scars with the use of energy devices by other practioners which unfortunately yielded not nearly as much improvement as I wanted. I was pretty close to giving up hope until I decided to give the Scar Healing Institute a try starting August of last yr. These scars have caused me a ton of agony and in the past I felt like other practioners had zero empathy for me with this accident. However, I felt like the team here at SHI truly cared about me. In addition to them being meticulous in their work, they are also all very fun to talk to btw! I had Phenol Cross, sculptra, and multiple subcisions done ~ including the liberator once ~ across 10 months and the improvement has been game changing. I would say around 80% - my scars have been lifted significantly and blended with the surrounding skin. Some of the scars have seemingly disappeared while the deep ones look much more shallow. I still want to pursue a dermabrasion to go to polish off my skin for further blending, texture, tone, and collagen regeneration (honestly I could skip this step as I am getting compliments for my skin already but I want to get my skin to a degree where it is as good as possible!) This is an invasive procedure but I have faith in Dr Hazany and his team to do a good job I will update the review with pictures to show my dermabrasion once I get it done and allow the redness to settle a bit. Currently started a new nursing job so gotta find time! All in all I'd highly recommend this treatment center and team for any skin issues ~ but especially pertaining to treating scars. I was looking for a good doctor who has experienced with treating acne scarring. I came across Dr Hazany and I decided to give a consultation a try because of his high ratings. I previously tried treatments from other places in the past (including other highly rated dermatologists in Los Angeles), but nothing really worked or gave me the improvement that I wanted. I recently finished the trifecta scar treatment at Hazany Derm over the course of around 6 months (from May to November 2023). Out of all the scar treatments that I've tried before, Dr Hazany has helped me the most by far. At first during the consultation, I was skeptical due to the cost, but I would say that it has definitely been worth it. I started going to Dr. Hazany about 3 months or so ago after going to a different dermatologist in the Beverly Hills area for some years. I've been struggling with acne scarring and hyperpigmentation for quite some time and while the last derm did help with the hyperpigmentation, he was unable to help me with me acne scarring. I remember asking the dermatologist if we could try out subcision because I did my research on the types of scars I had and I felt like that was the best treatment but he kept telling me that I only needed laser. $9,000 later...I still had the acne scars (ice pick, rolling, box car) on my face that I was told only LASER would fix. Anyway, fast forward to meeting Dr. Hazany. The first day I spoke with him I knew I made the right decision because he actually listened to my concerns and tailored a treatment plan that addressed all of the different types of scars I had. The procedures in this treatment plan included: phenol/CROSS, subcision, and laser. -Phenol/CROSS: This procedure was super easy. The staff cleansed my face, went over the areas that I wanted to target which was all the areas I had ice pick scars and they began the procedure. I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. I left the dr's office with a bunch of red dots on my face which turned into scabs 4-5 days later and eventually fell off to reveal a more even texture of skin. I've had regular TCA cross before but wow I was so, so happy with the results after ONE treatment. I cried (seriously I was so happy). - Subcision: I was very nervous for this procedure at first because it is so invasive but once I got to the office I felt better. The team made sure that I was comfortable before, during and after the procedure. I was given medication and topical treatments for numbing to be sure that I didn't feel a thing - and it worked. By the time I realized I was getting subcision the procedure was already done. Shortly after, I took an uber home and rested for the remainder of the day. The swelling lasted about 1.5 weeks for me but once things started to settle I saw amazing results and more even textured skin. - Laser: I'm currently scheduling my laser procedure which is going to help even out the skin after subcision. I'm really excited! Overall, the staff was super great. Everyone working under Dr, Hazany is really bright, professional and extremely friendly. They do a great job checking up on you, ensuring that you are properly prepped before during and after your procedures. I had seen a number of other dermatologists prior to coming to Dr. Hazany and am by far the most satisfied with my experience and results with him. I have suffered with hormone related acne for years that seemed to be incurable until I came to Dr. Hazany six months ago. I have had hidradenitis suppurativa in the axilla (armpits) for 15+ years, meaning I get painful cysts in my armpits. I have seen numerous dermatologists over the years, and treatments have included cyst removal, incision/drainage, spironolactone, isotretinoin...nothing worked. I was referred to Dr. Hazany, and he determined I needed three surgeries to removed all of the "tunnels" with the disease. He just performed the third surgery, and I could not be more happy with the results. I'm so glad I found Dr. Hazany!! After completing accutane last year, I was happy my acne cleared up but devastated by the intense indented scarring left behind. My dermatologist had mentioned laser, but when I researched online I found people with rolling scars who were upset that laser alone didn't work for them. Luckily I found someone on Reddit who had been able to dramatically improve scars that looked like mine, leading me to Dr. Hazany. I was anxious and emotional when I first arrived at Dr. Hazany's office 6 months ago. Every step of the way, Dr. Hazany and his team were supportive and reassuring. I had tons of questions and they were always happy to help clarify the process. I loved that they were available via text as well! That helped keep my anxiety in check because I was able to easily get quick answers when I had questions or concerns come up between appointments. I did phenol, subcision and sculptra. Phenol was a super quick and easy procedure, though it did leave red dots all over my face for about 10 days, I think a bit longer than it lasts for some others. With the pandemic going on it was easy to just go out with a mask on during that period. They also started off with a tiny test spot, so I felt very prepared for how the process would go by the time we did the full procedure. The dots gradually peel off on their own. I didn't notice any big changes from phenol alone, but this procedure was described to me as being useful before subcision because it helps to soften the scar tissue and improves the results of subcision. Subcision was the procedure I felt most nervous about. I did tons of research and by the day of the surgery I felt I had a good understanding of what to expect. I was given drugs that made me nod off for most of the procedure and I felt super calm and relaxed in the handful of moments I do remember. I was ridiculously swollen immediately after but it improved a little every day. For about two to three weeks total I felt I was noticeably swollen and bruised looking. Then in the months following, I've had lingering minor swelling that has been slowly decreasing. That surprised me but ultimately it's a no brainer trade off for the magic of my indentations disappearing. The scars were all lifted immediately after the procedure. My skin is so much flatter than it was before, it's kind of hard to believe. There's some lingering redness and firmness I can feel in the spots where my scars were as well but both of those things are slowly decreasing over time as well. Ultimately I'm very happy with how the procedure went and agree with Dr. Hazany's assessment that it was the best option for my scar type. The last thing I did was Sculptra, which essentially trains your body to produce more collagen and can help make sure the scars stay lifted after subcision. I needed two rounds of injections. I was numbed partially but it did hurt in some places. It was relatively quick though. After the procedure, I was instructed to massage my face for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days. The downtime was much shorter than subcision. Overall I'm super happy with my experience with Dr. Hazany. It was definitely an expensive investment but I feel so much better looking in the mirror and I'm excited to see how my skin continues to improve over time. I feel like myself again. read more
