Don't be fooled by the reviews. If you plan to visit this place, beware of a few things:
1. The staff are not very knowledgeable on thier own equipment. The worker stated he has a PS5 himself but couldn't figure out how to download games. After showing him how to, it couldn't download because they had no memory left on the console.
2. The place is very small and after telling him I play on a PS5, he set me up on an Xbox with a controller with buttons that were stuck. The Xbox also wouldn't you let launch any games without signing into an Xbox profile (which I don't have)
3. I called ahead the day before to check if I could bring my own laptop and use their internet (since they didn't have the game I wanted) and they told me yes, only to change that stance after I took over 45 minutes to get there.
4. If you intend to play a game listed on thier website and don't mind being surrounded by 12 year olds, then this place is perfect.
Be prepared if you're gonna show up here, you'll get zero support from the staff and fake empathy. You'll also be surrounded by 12 year olds. If you pay attention to the reviews, they are mostly from parents who are not the actual ones using the machines.
For reference, the game I wanted to play is Call of Duty Warzone which is a large game, but it's also free and widely popular. It should be part of their catalog. Aside from that though, when someone calls ahead to get information, they should get an accurate answer.
Additionally, they do seem to be the only video game cafe in the area but I'm sure if anybody else opened a similar place, this place would go out of business. I truly believe they are surviving because they are the only place of it's kind in a 50 mile radius. I believe the next closest similar place is Cyber Racoon (59 miles south in Santa Clara).
Editing to respond:
I am sorry you felt this was harsh. I am simply detailing out things potential customers should be aware of. Everything in my review is factual and not mean spirited, just true.
There is nothing wrong with new employees but if he is that new, he should not be running the place by himself. Also, he was supposedly talking to the owner via text (I assume that is you) so that points to an even bigger issue/concern.
As to your comment about reaching out before I come in next time, Im sorry, that will not be happening.
There were 3 opportunities to earn my business:
First - with the heads up when I called yesterday (the day before I was coming in). I was very nice and detailed about what I was looking for.
Second - when I showed up and wanted to play
Third - when I left, I sat outside while I waited for my ride to pick me up.
The facts here are that you all messed this one up. I'm not returning. However, I truly hope you take all this feedback and improve so nobody else has the experience I did. I love the concept and it can be done well but you have a long way to go. I truly hope you get it worked out before it's too late.
In response to your technical answers.
Points 1 & 2 - If all that is true, again, your employee should not be running the place by himself
Point 3 - I specifically called and asked for this reason. I would not have wasted my time if he had just given me the correct info. If he didn't know, he should have reached out to someone who did.
Point 4 - I truly hope you do attract more older kids and adults but as of right now, being an adult surrounded by only young kids is not my idea of a good time
Point 5 - I have my own CoD profile but he was unable to get the game on the console so it didn't matter
I will be keeping the review because people need to be informed. Again, I truly hope you take this feedback and improve. I would love to see you be successful.
PS - I am in the area celebrating my birthday so if you feel this was a harsh review, just know I wasted half of a day of the 4 days of vacation I had and the money in transportation to travel to your business read more
