Keith did a great job, shows replaced parts, explains reasoning really well, had my budget in mind. Made recommendations of work to do and not do and hold off. Easily could have done it all and charged me. You can tell he wants to do it right rather than cheap and good enough. read more

My wife's Jeep has the problematic Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L V6. It was throwing a cam sensor error code. I replaced bank 2 cam sensor and harness. No change. I read the reviews about Duane's Automotive and decided to pay them a visit before having the Jeep towed there for service. I was impressed with the cleanliness and modern equipment in the shop and more impressed with how knowledgeable Kieth is. I had the Jeep towed over and discussed the issue with Kieth. He was certain there was a wiring issue. He called the next day and reported there were two broken wires near the throttle position sensor and he needed an hour of labor to make the repair. I was elated it was nothing serious and did not need any parts. I learned Kieth recently took over the business from his father, Duane. It's great to find someone so knowledgeable and professional so young in their career. I will be referring everyone I know to Kieth for auto repair and maintenance. read more

Amazing service and very honest people. Went to a couple different dealerships because my truck was having issues heading north on a trip and these guys made time to diagnose the issue. I gave them 20 different things that were high dollar items and they found it to be a simple solution and didn't try to gouge me or say other items needed to be done. That goes a long way these days. I would highly recommend them if you're in the area and pet the dog while you're at it. read more

I've been going there for decades. Honest and fair pricing. At times his estimates can be high but that's to cover everything just in case, they have to get into the car to see exactly what the issue is. Then when you go to pay the bill he charges actual price, which has always been lower than the estimate. It's hard to trust a mechanic but he's proven himself each and every time. read more

The best in the high desert. Duane's quality of work and integrity makes him the #1 automotive repair business in our area. When we moved here in in 1990 my father told me he was the best mechanic up here and take your car to no one else. My father who knew much about cars, rebuilding many engines knew what he was talking about. Recently, when we took our car to the dealership, they said we needed about $500. worth of work and we only had 37,000 miles on the car. Duane checked it out and said the car was fine after a extensive check and charged us nothing! Even after we said we wanted to give him something for his time. Take your car to no one else! If I can do zero stars I would. Took me truck to get breaks bled and quoted me 180 I went to pay and charged me 280 " said break fluid was extra 100. Then he said I needed a alignment and would be 900 dollars I told him I was good then said I don't think I can give it back to u until u do alignment for safety reasons. I didn't do it and got it back. Look this guy bled the breaks good but then wheel started squeaking real bad. This guy Duane is a crook read more

Duane's is a locally owned business that for years has relied primarily on word of mouth for his customers. The locals often come in after having a painful experience with a dealership. Duane takes the time to go through the dealership service receipt you have brought along, pointing out any inconsistencies between your bill and the work done. Up front he explains that he may charge more, but his work will be done correctly the first time. Duane is rightly proud of the extensive training he and his staff have received. Other service centers bring their problem cars to him for advice and for his expertise. I'm a 'down the hill' commuter, and I can't afford to have my car decide to get sick. It's up to me to get the car in for a checkup, and I count on Duane to make sure I don't get stranded. I've been taking my car to him for 10 years. I completely trust his work, and I trust him. Duane's very open and honest with his women customers. He understands that they have a brain. Thanks, Duane! read more

Duane and Keith saved my bacon. During day two of a cross-country move (San Francisco Bay area to South Florida), the alternator went out on our trusty 1997 RAV 4. I managed to break the wiring pigtail / clip doing a parking lot installation of a new alternator (done successfully eventually and nearly totally by local car enthusiast youths) in an auto parts store parking lot after hours. The next morning asking around at different shops, everyone I spoke with suggested going to Duane for a proper electrical / wiring fix. Noting our travel schedule and situation, Duane and Keith made time that morning to try to source a new part (not in stock in the immediate region). Next up was attempting to source a used part. Failing that, Keith fashioned a beautiful solution with shrink wrap and a used part that held all the way to Florida through today. This was a few days before the Christmas holidays and I believe Duane was recovering from a recent illness. He easily could have turned me away a scruffy looking non-local with an old car and given their apparently nearly full garage of projects but instead he and Keith had us back on the road in under three hours with a solution that I could trust through the desert and beyond. Duane charged a very fair price for the work considering (their shop hour rates are posted clearly in the office). No complaints and clearly the regional go-to team for auto electrical needs and fixes. Thanks guys! read more

My family and I have been going to Duane's Automotive for years! Myself alone, over the last 12 years have had a series of vehicles & Duane has helped make sure my cars were running well and never overcharged. He is the only person I trust with my vehicle and I live three hours away. Whenever I am in town and have an issue with my vehicle I make a point to stop by Duane's Automotive to have him check it out. The staff here are pleasant, Duane is trustworthy. In addition to all of these wonderful qualities, I really appreciate that Duane's Automotive is a sponsor of the Victor Valley Women's club. It shows that they care about the Victor Valley Community. Thank you Duane's Automotive for all you have done and continue to do! read more

Our car's engine light was on so it couldn't pass the smog test. A friend of ours took it to Duane's Automotive in Victorville as this is a second home for us and we don't normally live in Victorville. Duane did some work and we paid him $650. Our friend picked it up, and the engine light was still on. Then Duane told us that we needed a new timing chain to make the light go off, and that would cost us another $2500. The car has 56,000 miles on it. We thought that sounded wrong so we took it to Pep Boys. Pep Boys "reset the system" and did a $99 diagnostic and the light went off and we got the car smogged, no problem. read more

My Jeep's power steering went out Friday afternoon. I stopped by Duane's Automotive and spoke to Duane. He quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me a fair estimate. He said he was pretty busy and could not get to it until Monday. So I left the car thinking great no car this weekend. Much to my surprise he called me a couple of hours later telling me he was able to fix my car. I live close by so he came and picked me up to get my car. Woo hoo! Thanks Duane, You have all my future business. read more

In a world where it seems increasingly challenging to find vehicle repair that is highly competent, reasonably priced, and absent three levels (at least) of upsells to pad technician commissions, Duane's Automotive is a great find. We have been very pleased with several visits we have made there over several years. I recommend them with complete confidence. Skip the hype, advertising, and added costs. Head to Duane's the next time you need vehicle repair. read more

I drove out from Orange County to visit friends at Spring Valley Lake. We had driven up to Lake Arrowhead for the day. On the way back from the mountains my car started to lose power and idle roughly at stop lights. An acquaintance of my friends recommended Duane's Automotive because they had resolved an issue with his car that the dealership couldn't seem to figure out. I called Duane's first thing the next morning and they were able to start diagnosing the issue with my car within a couple of hours. They quickly found the cause of the issue and got the needed parts right away. The staff at Duane's were very polite, friendly, and professional. I was extremely satisfied with the service provided at Duane's. Being from out of town, I felt very fortunate to find such an honest, professional, and reliable mechanic service close by. I was able to travel home with peace of mind knowing that a competent, professional mechanic had completed the repairs on my vehicle. I would definitely take my vehicles to Duane's for service or repairs again in the future. read more

Hey Yelpers! I had a review of Duanes Automotive up for a year or so and somehow a lot of my reviews disappeared this last week!! I am currently re-writing reviews that our lost. Anyhow, I wanted to make sure you all knew about Duane's Automotive Repair. Duane's is a great place to take your car! It is so hard to trust automotive repair businesses especially if you do not know much about car repairs. Duane's is a family owned business and they are great to work with and trustworthy! As an example of great customer service - a few years ago, my son was up in Berkeley and the Ford Ranger he was driving lost brake power. He took it to a shop up there and got an estimate. I called Duane and he took the time to help me over the phone and verify that what needed to be done on the car was legit! That is customer service! They are a super nice family and have been in business for years! Highly recommend!!!!! read more

We will not go near this shop again. Duane's Automotive blew out the transmission of a 2010 Toyota Corolla with a transmission flush leaving my wife having to crawl up the Cajon Pass at 20-25 miles an hour in the middle of the night. Then the hot-tempered owner called me "psycho" when I reported the problem. Should have taken him to small claims court but didn't have the time. This after quoting me one price over the phone and then charging more later. It cost $2,700 to repair and the transmission still isn't working properly. Later, I talked to two transmission shops and a Toyota specialist about it. Bottom-line is that you should change transmission fluid every 50,000 miles or less. The fluid doesn't last 100,000 miles, as Toyota claims. Sediment builds up, and a power flush, such as we had at Duane's, clears out the sediment buildup that previously blocked the weak spot/holes. Using gravity to drain the transmission is a much better process for older cars that haven't have their transmission fluid changed in a long time. All three experts said the same thing. They also said Duane's Automotive should have known better. On a positive note, the female owner of Duane's was very polite and professional. read more

We've been going to Duane's for about 15 years. Before that, I was going from mechanic to mechanic looking for one that would fix the stuff that I paid them to fix--and not have to take it back again and again. Duane's that guy. He's never worked on anything that he hasn't fixed. There have been a couple of times when he told me that there wasn't anything wrong, that it was just a noise. I appreciate honesty like that in a mechanic (in anyone, actually). read more

Duane's is the best place in the high desert for automotive work. He fixed the hack job done by another very big shop shop on main street in Hesperia. Every time I go in or call, I talk directly to Duane himself and he calls with updates every step of the way. No calling and being put on hold for 30 minutes while someone that doesn't really like their job goes to check with the mechanic. I've never had to call and ask for an update with Duane, he is always on top of communicating what's going on with my vehicle. His prices are fair and he actually came in under what he quoted when all was said and done. read more
