People (even businesses) I find are shady. I still took a shot at big rob and he DIDNT disappoint!! He replaced my steering gear box and hydroboost on my Silverado for a competitive price in the high desert. He had a great turn around on the project and communicated greatly. It's been a few months since he's completed the work and I have had to request some warranty work BUT rob was welcoming and quick to address the issues. The issues were related to the parts and not his work. Even when he was busy he still got it "in and out" same day or next day. There's always that person that feels they got screwed by a mechanic. I've been out here 19 years and I'll never regret finding Big Rob as my mechanic. He did the upper end of my 2000 explorer and went above and beyond for me. Ford used crap push rods and lifter pieces he let me know first so for a tiny bit more money I'd get a great rebuild. I did. That truck wouldn't pass smog for years and everyone quoted upwards of 5000.00, that whole job back then 1900.00. Just recently I brought my 2000 Corolla in, long story short..... complete rebuilt motor with water pump, plugs etc. out the door 2800.00. It's not totally about the money, the guy does great work. I thought I had a rearend issue with my Bronco , Big Apple gave me an estimate of 4k + tax , another shop 2.5+k ! My friend said before I do anything to take it to Big Rob , besides being a very cool human he had his guys check my Bronco and they found a very simple issue and charged me very little for the repair , I even asked Rob if I could pay a little more and told me don't worry about it !!! The first time we went to Big Rob, we had taken our Honda into the dealership and they gave us a $3000 bill for all the things we needed done. I called my dad, who is a successful mechanic himself, but is getting older and would rather someone else do the work at this point. He told me he had taken his car to Big Rob's and was impressed by their honesty and truthfulness. When I took the car to them, after the $3000 dollar review, he completed the job for $680. Fast forward to this weekend. Big Rob wasn't open so, we decided to take the car to Big Apple. We needed brake work done. They gave us an estimate of $770 and told us all rotors needed to be replaced. We said No Way! We took the car to Big Rob's this morning and they cleaned up the rotors and only replaced the front brake pads and we were out of there for $270. Doing another update. Once everything was put together it was realized that they messed up a lot of things on the vehicle. I had also bought a washable air filter for about $50 and had that in my car already, they took it out and kept it and replaced it with a paper filter. They also messed up the radiator. They car ran great before taking it here, all it needed was a simple oil leak fix. Ended up having to buy a new motor b/c they messed it all up. Shit business, please stop taking your cars here. You aren't getting what you are paying for, I guarantee you are being ripped off. read more
