On November 19, 2024, I entrusted my vehicle to Mando's Automotive for extensive engine repairs. The shop owner provided a repair estimate of $6,000, for which I paid a $3,000 deposit, with the understanding that the work would be completed within 3 weeks. The agreed-upon repairs included replacing piston rings, connecting rod bearings, resurfacing fuel injectors, and addressing issues with cylinder 3's heads and valves. December 2024: The shop requested additional money to complete the repair, claiming the need to order more parts from Audi. January 28, 2025: The owner confirmed receiving the necessary parts,  February 7th he stated he had an emergency and had to leave the country. February 21 2025: we visit the shop and I discovered my engine disassembled, with parts ordered from China rather than the promised Audi components. After expressing concern, I reluctantly agreed to have the engine reassembled, understanding I might lose the $3,000 deposit but fearing further losses. The owner promised the vehicle would be ready by March 3, 2025, along with the original contract and replaced parts. March 3rd 2025: scott from the BAR visit the shop to obtain the contract and it was closed.  Mando told him he was ill March 4, 2025: After following up, I was informed of a new issue with the rear tensioner, requiring another part. Mando claimed to have the part and promised to finish the repair.  He also confirmed he was not going to try and take any more money since he didn't complete the repairs. March 10, 2025: The shop was closed and is reportedly staying closed for the week, leaving my vehicle in pieces. I have since contacted local law enforcement, who indicated this may constitute embezzlement, and the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) has already issued a citation against the shop. In the meantime: My vehicle remains undrivable and disassembled for 4 months. I had to purchase another car, spending $5,000 on alternate transportation. I am left without my $3,000 deposit, with no resolution in sight. My 2014  Audi Q7 with 109k miles current market value is approximately $10,000 I have no vehicle to this day and no one will help me. read more

Mondo's is simply the best mechanic I Have ever had. He has worked on several of my vehicles over the years. There are no games with him he tells you what's wrong and fixes it with first time quality! You will never get " could be this or that let's replace this first crap". He has literally worked on 20 or more of my vehicles through out the years and I have never had to go back to him for the same problem never. When you find a Master mechanic like Mondo that can fix anything fro Mercedes to my Diesel F-250 there is usually a wait because others have also discovered just how good he is. I waited a whole 5 months before posting this to make sure nothing happened to my car after the repair since it was such an expensive one. My catalytic converter needed to be switched out in order to pass smog and NO ONE had the part. I called around in San Diego first, then Los Angeles, and absolutely no one could help me. He was the only one that was able to assist and he did so within a few days. I was the only one in the lobby and it was quite relaxing. Mando is a good guy. He worked on both my aunts Lexus and my Expedition. Nothing to major. He charges a fair rate and the work has been solid. I waited a couple months to ensure there wasn't any problems. The reason for my review is his excellent customer service. He takes the time to explain things about the repair and other things about the vehicle. No high pressure sales. Worst auto mechanic experience in my life. I believed the yelp reviews and believed in Mando. He kept making promises he couldn't keep. My jeep broke down last year in around June while camping around the Sierras. I had the jeep towed to Mando's since it was the closest and highest rated mechanic at the time. My engine broke due to an oil leak and a rod shooting out. I left him my jeep and the keys. After diagnosis he tells me I need a new engine or a rebuild. He convinces me to do the rebuild guaranteeing his work for 3 years. I decide to go ahead and put a deposit down of about 1.5k as he asked. Fast forward 4 months in he promises to get it done multiple times and does not make due on his promises. Almost 6 months in all he has done is removed my engine and promises he'll be done again. After about 6 unfulfilled promises and 6 months I decide to tow car to my trusted mechanic in Orange. He gave me a bunch of excuses when he could have just told me he couldn't do it so I could just move on. I understand everyone has circumstances but if you can't fulfil the job admit it. I trusted this guy and kept believing him to no avail. I asked for a refund. Wanted to just charge back my card and he didn't. He instead gave me the refund later in cash. Very unprofessional. Should be refunded the same way. Granted he was about 90 miles from where I lived he probably thought he could get away with this. I was on the verge of going through litigation because of this mess. I don't know how his rating is so high after my experience but to each there own. I have receipts and proof of all that has happened. I would not go here ever again and don't know why people do. read more

I sent my van to Mando back in September for an overheating issue. He said it would take about 2 weeks to fix at a reasonable price. He told me it needed a full valve job. Two weeks later he asked for more time. Then, every time after that he kept saying 2 more days, or I had a family emergency, or my health is bad, and I have no help. Finally, after 4 months of having no vehicle, moving out of state, and creating a new life he texted and said the vehicle was ready for pick up. My husband took a grey hound out to pick it up. He then quoted over $2000 more than the original quote which he never approved with us prior to doing the work. He did ask if he could replace the radiator which was only an extra $400. My husband drove the van approximately 30 minutes and it began having issues. It would stall out for no reason while on the freeway, he would coast over and it would start right back up. My husband was able to baby it approximately another 50miles or so as he drove it home to Las Vegas before he had no choice but to call for a tow. Mando was notified and he offered to come to Vegas and see what the problem was, he said he would come to following weekend. He again texted and said there was an emergency and he promised he would show up the following weekend. Which he did. He tested the vehicle and said it was a sensor that had gone bad and that he would be back in a few weekends to fix it. He never showed back up, he always had his usual excuses and then eventually stopped communicating altogether. We took the van to a mechanic out here in Vegas for various diagnostic tests as by this point it will not even start. The mechanic found that the wire harness was not properly reinstalled and had fallen across the exhaust and melted. The wire harness had to be removed to do the valve job according to the mechanic. There were a total of 3 sensors that had all gone bad as well as fuses due to the electrical issues caused by the wire harness melting. We also had taken our vehicle to him Mando approximately 2 years ago for a transmission issue. It has been having numerous transmission leaks. When the other mechanic looked at it and fixed one of the leaks they found that the bolts for the transmission were the wrong size, some were glued in YES glued in place for aesthetics. The last mechanic to do anything with the transmission was Mando and it was a full rebuild. Not other mechanics have touched this van besides Mando in the past two years until this issue here. We trusted Mando to do a great job, to ensure our vehicle was safe and mechanically sound to transport our four small children to a from their events as well as ensure I would get safely to work. I had a very difficult time believing the negative reviews I had read until he did it to my family. Possibly endangering our lives and those of the motorists around us. As a mother and as a nurse I always had great empathy and understanding to every time he said his health wasn't so great, or there was a family emergency. I believe in humanity and patience and doing the right thing. I am now in the process of finding the best paying junk yard to haul away our only family vehicle as we have sunk 1000s into it and it is still unsafe and unsound. read more

My alternator went out in my RV in the middle of the night driving through to Reno. The next morning Mando came to me with a new battery to install and get us to his shop. Then drove me to the grocery store so I could shop while he worked on the RV. His prices are extremely fair and his character is above most I've met. Honest. Quick. Kind. Hands down, best mechanic I've EVER did business with. Mando himself is an all around great man. He is polite, Respectful, and very very knowledgable. He will take his time when speaking with you to really really explain what it is giving you problems and the possibilities and then tell you what it is exactly that needs to be done all while telling you the priority of what should be taken care of first. My family and I were on our way to the Sierras for fishing and camping and my WJ Jeep Cherokee began to over heat. I searched Yelp and found Mando's and called past midnight to leave a message to let them know i was coming in the morning. To my surprise, Mando answered the phone and let me know that they would take care of me. When I arrived in the morning, I was greeted by their office manager and their technician. These guys really made my family and I feel welcome and allowed us to wait in their air conditioned lounge while they identified the problem. It is rare to find this level of service and professionalism in a mechanics shop and you can tell that the entire team gets what it takes to run a top notch operation. My experience has been mostly positive with his attention to detail and his knowledge. However, he claims to be "shorthanded" much of the time, due to unavailable auto mechanical skill in the high desert. If he gives you a time that he will have your car ready, it should be taken with much flexibility. First time coming here a couple weeks ago and I don't think I will ever go anywhere else. Extremely friendly, showed me why each thing he did was done what was wrong with it and what would happen if it was not done. I came for engine light and he let me know about another issue but was honest about it saying it doesn't have to be done right away but if it starts with this symptom it should be done right away to not have it hurt the vehicle. So I went to Mando's Automotive to have my shifter linkage bushings replaced as well as my front and rear. In the STI's this is a common issue of these components wearing and Armando was fully aware of what needed to be done. I not only felt like I was a customer at Mando's but a friend. They were so nice and respectful and the most important thing, I got the job done my shifter feels brand new and Armando quoted me alot less than anyone else had! I need to do my valve cover gasket's next and Armando will be the guy I take it to. His other mechanic German is the man as well, he took the time to chat with me about different questions I had about the vehicle. I simply can't say enough about Mando and his service. Mando has treated me well as far as service and pricing. He is meticulous and very knowledgeable, a true professional. He has earned a customer for life!. But he really out did himself this week. I took my car in, un announced and without an appointment, dropped it off and assumed it would be a day or so before I heard back. I get a call about 3hrs later with diagnostic and estimate, I approved and 3 hrs later I get a call telling me it's ready. Picking it up was going to be an issue as work schedule wouldn't allow, BUT, Mando offered to DELIVER it to my house!. Apparently, he lives near my neighborhood and didn't have a problem doing this for me, reluctantly, I accepted (I didn't want him going out of his way), we met at a shopping center(I was already there with my wife)and I got my car, truly the best customer service I've ever had. If there's anytime you need to trust Yelp it's in regards to Mando's Auto, think this is my fourth Yelp review, cause its something I viewed as pointless. But I say this review with full conviction done on my own no incentive on Mandos shop. With that being said , I came across Mandos on Yelp n was puzzled by the amount of positive 5 star response this place got esp for a mechanic lol . He is the real deal, took it to another shop they said the engine was done but after Mando took a look it just needed spark plugs n ignition coil what went from 1800 job to 350 was such a relief. This guy is honest and that is worth to me more than anything else especially in this line of work. First i'd like to say Thank you Armando! I took in my jeep Comanche to have my differentials fixed. Mando showed me the problem so i could see it, and he showed me that the teeth on the gears were worn and thats why my 4x4 was slipping in and out of gear. Mando finished the job in the time i asked. I needed some extra days to gather the money and he had no problem letting me keep my truck there. Upon paying the bill which i thought would be at least 2k i was suprised to find out it was less then half the price of what i had anticipated. Not only did he fix the gearing but he went above and beyond by taking apart my transfer case and cleaning that too.. He also replaced bolts where i needed them and did a few other things at absolutely no charge... Mechanics like this are really really hard to find, this guy is concerned with quality of work and keeping his customers. Upon finishing my truck we both went out on a road test where we took it to a little off road patch that had a nice incline hill. I drove it in some sand and put it in 4 wheel low and went right up that hill with no slippage. I will never take my jeep anywhere else as long as Mando is still around. I have taken my jeep Comanche off roading 3 times since he fixed it and i dont have any issues.. Mando is a great mechanic. He does all the work himself. I took my SUV to him to have the motor mounts replaced. Any time he does work on your vehicle he does a full inspection that way you can be aware of any other issues your vehicle might have. In the early part of the summer the AC on my 2007 Dodge Nitro failed. As a traveling nurse whose territory is Helendale to Newberry Springs I was unable to continue my practice without it. The High Desert has a wealth of auto mechanics but not many come highly recommended. The reviews on Yelp convinced me to make an appointment at Mando's. I was overwhelmingly delighted with their service and professionalism. They were wonderful and the cost of the repair was reasonable. Nearly six months later and I am still cool and comfortable in my high mileage old lady. I certainly recommend Mando's. Unfortunately, I will be sending more of my broken down old wrecks their way.
